Right off the bat, let me say a few things...

I'm re-reading this entire series. I read (and enjoyed) the Brie Series long before I began reviewing books... I've since read the second Brie Series (After Graduation) and I'm looking forward to reading the Third Brie Series (Submissive in Love)...

I felt like I was doing a disservice to my enjoyment to this series by not having full reviews, so I'm using the excuse of the upcoming third Brie Series to re-read all nine of these novellas.

The first Brie series is one I often recommend to readers new to Erotica and fresh off the FSoG endorphin rush... You can discover and explore submission through the eyes of Brie and see if you have a taste for some of the more serious BDSM Erotica out there...

STACIA'S RETRO PALACE-O-PORN.

Warning : This short story is only for people who can deal with slightly disturbing sexual scenarios featuring old men and hairy bodies. You have been warned.

Has anyone else ever watched 70's porn? You know, the type where the next door neighbor comes over to borrow sugar and within minutes, you're seeing a whole lotta bush and cellulite? No? Just me? Yeah, it figures.

For the record, I haven't actually watched 70's porn since I was a teenager, so if my memory is fuzzy, just humor me. I had boyfriends with crappy VHS collections full of stuff that I'd like to wipe from memory.

Now, I'm not actually comparing this short story to 70's porn in terms of content. I'm only comparing because I had that same, "yeah right...like any of this would actually happen" feeling.

Guess what? I don't care. Sometimes I just need to suspend reality for a moment and get lost in the porn-without-plot (if you're expecting a story, stop now). This short story worked better for me in all of its cheesy splendor than the last "mainstream" erotic book that I read.

Flash Summary : Brie works in a tobacco shop. Hot man and equally hot female partner come in for a purchase. Hot man leaves large tip and a business card with the name of a 'school' for submissives. Brie applies to the school, makes a crazy sex tape as part of her application process, then goes to the school and has crazy encounters on her very first day. Fin.

This story was unbelievable. It was ridiculous in parts. It was disturbing in parts. Not much happened other than a bunch of stupidly horrific sexual encounters. And I enjoyed every moment of it. Okay, well not every moment, but I thought this was a fun read in a bizarre kind of way.

Cringe-worthy sexual terms were in abundance. If this were a mainstream book, I'd have quit reading. I tend to (somewhat) ignore the terminology in small pub erotic short stories. It was a freebie, so I got what I paid for - which was basically a few moments of cringing, laughing, and bizarre sexual entertainment that did sort of border on enticing.

The moment where Brie has to face one of her fears by having sex with a black man sort of made me uncomfortable. I don't think it was meant as disrespectful but this type of subject matter always dances a line of bordering on offensive if it's not handled correctly. Nothing stood out to me as too bad (she ended up getting over her fear and ended up enjoying the time spent), but I wasn't looking for anything either. I'm not sure how others would feel about the same scene.

I want to see what happens next for Brie and the dom who has caught her eye but I'd have to pay for the next installment. Part of me is actually tempted...I have the feeling that their encounter will be a hot little number. But...yeah. Not sure if I'm ready to invest money in a series of short stories.

I'm very glad that I started reading this story! I wasn't able to give this a 5 star rating which I will explain below but first I want to talk about what I enjoyed.

First of all, I know each section of the overall story costs $.99 a piece once you get past the first one (which I did get for free) but honestly that doesn't bother me. Personally I feel like each volume is worth that and once it's complete I really won't feel bad about the amount I've spent on it. I mean really it's a buck a month basically, no complaints here.

Erotica is by the far the most dominant theme is this book. It's not really about the characters or storyline so much as it is about lots and lots of kinky sex. I went into this story expecting nothing less. When I want to read erotica, I want to read erotica. Not relationship drama, not romance, not a love story. That is exactly what this story is about. If you're looking for something deep and emotional this is definitely not the story for you. I basically rated this story a 4 because it's exactly what I was looking for as far as really steamy and graphic sex but it lost that last star because of a couple things that while I was able to get past, still bothered me slightly.

First of all, Brie is only 22. How can you expect to know really anything about yourself for sure at that age? But she goes to submissive training where she basically decides that she is indeed a submissive, even though she's really almost entirely inexperienced when it comes to sex. If all I really knew was bad sex and submissive sex then yeah, I'd decide I was a submissive too, but really there are so many different experiences to be had that it kind of sucks to see a 22 year old put herself into that box so early on. I'm not saying anything bad about people that age, I'm just saying on a psychological level most women aren't going to have any idea what kind of sex they are going to like at that age since most women don't even hit their real sexual prime and heightened libido until almost 30. I appreciate the effort Brie takes in stepping out of her comfort zone to try something different but it just seems like she is allowing this school to define who she is and I kind of have a little bit of a problem with Sir who slightly seems like he is taking advantage of a naive and sexually uneducated individual.

My second somewhat negative comment is around the complete lack of safe sex in this story. I guess I can't say that I know for sure that none of these men are wearing condoms but it would definitely make the whole idea of a submissive school a little more realistic if they talked about a guy actually wearing a condom for sex every once in a while, especially when you're talking about so many different partners like this story does.

In conclusion let me say that I really have been enjoying this story, despite my comments above. It's very sexy and definitely anything other than vanilla. Those things listed above are a couple annoyances for me but really nothing that affects the overall story (which is sex, sex, sex, and...uh...oh yeah more sex). I am going to continue to read about Brie's kinky journey because I've enjoyed it but if you have a problem with any of the items listed in the disclaimer below then I definitely would not suggest this story.

The idea of the author for this book is very original, i have read about a school for spies, a school for maids and a school for wizards but i have never read a book about a school for a submissive. This original idea was exactly the reason why i chose this book, it was very interesting at the beginning of course but as i kept reading i came across a few things i didn't like:

-First, Brie gave in to the idea of The Submissive Training Center very easily and in her first day she did all the things she was asked to do without complaining which i find very unrealistic if you ask me.

-Second, there were some slightly disturbing scenes in this book but of course this is not the authors fault, i should have expected as much after reading the description of this book

-and Last there was no romance. Usually when i read something, no matter how much the author chooses to describe the sexual scenes i always want the main character to be in love with her partner and her partner to be in love with the main character, something which i did not see in this book but i'm hopeful for the rest of the series.

I'm very curious about Brie's Second day in the training center so i plan to read the rest of the series and exploring my limits in reading this kind of books while doing so, just like Brie will continue learning her limits in the special training she is receiving.

Although I am NOT an erotica reader, I was very curious about this series after meeting the author at a recent conference, so I decided to give it a go.

The story is a woman's introduction into the world of BDSM. As to be expected, it is sexually adventurous, extremely explicit and a bit shocking at times, but also well written and engaging.
This first book is purely about sex although the heroine later develops a romantic relationship with her chosen Dom.

Well this was highly unexpected. You never know what you will get with a freebie, but I was surprisingly pleased.

This is the story of Brie, a bored tobacco sales person. Everything changes, when a couple walks in asking for an exotic brand of cigarettes costing over $40 a pack, they settle on a different brand and he leaves $100 bill, with a business card under it.

Her curiosity gets the best of her, and she checks the website that is listed. Much to her horror, there are women bound, pictured. She shuts it down fast, and tries to go to bed. However there is no sleeping that night. She checks it out more, and decides to get more information.

And then there was 4.

But I am left mad as hell. What kind of ending is that? I it would leave me hanging, but that was just cruel. Now I must go find book 2.

Let me start by saying this 1st novella slipped in and out of 1st person/3rd person narrative &I wasn't sure I could finish it because it irritated me so much. I am way past this 1st book but still haven't figured out how to tell what novella I'm on. I finished "teach me" that's all I know. Having read almost all of the Brie Submissive series (though saving her latest for a hot read by the pool in my holidays), I feel ready to lie back in my corset, quill poised to ponder the tomes of this entertaining writer.

Red's chapters, in my eyes, deserve a thesis in the art of fantasy, bondage and challenging her readers.

We all crave a thrill, escape from life's entrapment at times - there's nothing more delicious. We are creatures of pleasure and I'm not one to deny myself certain gratification. So I was very pleased to have found an erotica author who delves into this phenomenon with fun, respect, empathy and lust.

Submissive student Brie Bennett's (Pride & Prejudice perhaps?) self deprecating humour, self doubt and shyness are traits that the series follows. Through each book we see a woman serious about her craft, inquisitive, honing her skills, horny... waiting for the teacher to take a bite of her apple.

She develops a passion for sex, for pleasing, for assuming the position - practising on loads of men in all it's dark, dark, dark. This school could break mere mortals and many fail, but motivating Brie is a love story of sacrifice and moving forward. That is why the Brie Series is best studied complete.

There is so much fun and awkwardness in the pages, a hair brush scene in a subsequent book was drawn so minutely I became Brie, felt all her fear, embarrassment, excitement and jubilation of a difficult task completed.

There are beautiful friendships formed and cleverness in introducing characters that you just want to see more of. I found myself yelling at pages, 'pick Blue Eyes, pick Blue Eyes'. But I have a particular favourite. Tono the Japanese Shibari artist. Red Phoenix's breath really comes to the fore as one becomes suspended in nature. Gliding descriptions as intriguing and succinct as Haiku while The Master turns his Toriko (his pet name for Brie) into a living work of art. You'll often find him either binding Brie in ropes, drawing on her or another core melting scene when he covers her entire torso in wax. "Lie still and let the sensations carry you"

I adored the friends and foes in her class, exposing rivalries and jealousies as bitchy as any 'mean girls' high school, or ladder climbing workplace. The teachers have their hands full at times. Their exasperation when a student is particularly naughty, rebelling the core nature of being a submissive is quite lascivious, but isn't punishment a sweet reward.

Of course you can't have submissive students without Dom wannabes and this school has some of the greatest thought out Masters, returning each series to bid for students and join in the action.
They aren't gods with size 12 shoes, they are real, flawed and... well I lied, they have big cocks.

Bries fantasy journal is another highlight. Her beautifully vivad imagination just waiting to be fulfilled reads like a lust filled fairytale. Her thoroughness to detail constantly chatised by her teachers for being too thorough and descriptive. I feel a switch in the making, control, control, control of how a scene will play out. Brie has her goal in sight - to be the best, and I will continue to follow her quest. You know what they say, practice makes perfect;)

This is a free book, that is actually the first part (37 pages) of a serial fiction series) that I stumbled upon on Amazon. I should have judged it by the cover, but curiosity got to me and I had to see just how bad it really was.

Here we have yet another self-published, should have been fan fiction, fantasy fulfillment (supposed) BDSM erotica. The set up is tissue-paper thin, the narrative is boring and flat. Seriously, it reads like dictation. The heroine is your typical Marry-Sue: unaware of her own attractiveness, inexplicable self sustaining and educated, but completely lacking in even the most basic common sense.

The plot (I use this term VERY loosely) is painfully simplistic. Brie Bennett (the name alone should have made it a fan fiction) meets a well dressed, obviously (ridiculously) rich patron at the smoke shop she works at. He leaves her his business card, which is for a The Submissive Training Center “25 years of Excellence” (no seriously that's what it says). Brie of course applies and gets into said school and starts on her wondrous journey through the BDSM lifestyle by going to college for it.

Like a kink fucking Hogwarts. Can you see my eye rolling?

There is no actual conflict in the story (I only got half way through). Not even from Brie herself, who as far as we know has no experience with BDSM, but it takes her all of one day to go for the idea of the school. Oh, she does put in a call to the Better Business Bureau. (I wish I was kidding about this).

All in all it is really fucking boring. Even the masturbation scene, which I'm sure must be taboo and exciting for someone who has never masturbated, but I actually skimmed it. *snore* Also the writing of the masturbation scene was so clumsy and poorly written I thought at first she was fucking herself with his lipstick, instead of a dildo.

Then there's the BDSM, which is in some parts accurate, but only because large sections of the text is literally copy and pasted for a variety of internet sources (submissiveguide.com, wikipedia and even some tumblr posts). Many of these passages are from Brie's class on submission, a scene that was so brain-suckingly boring I don't know how any newcomers would ever understand how or why BDSM is sexy.

Despite the author's use of internet resources this book misrepresents BDSM through a mixture of oversimplification and misinterpretation. It's like using google traslate, it will get you close, but unless you speak the language (even on the basic level) you miss the meaning.

That kind of sums up this attempt at BDSM erotica. It's not accurate, entertaining or sexy.

Plus because it is just the first segment in a series of stories, it's not really a complete book.

Epic Fail!

I actually really enjoyed this free short story. I kind of figured what it would be about but I was shocked at every part. Brie’s boring life of working at a cigar shop flipped around when a Dom and his Sub walked in. she was turned on by every part of the couple and was at a loss of words. He left his card with her and told her that if she wanted a new Job to give him a call. When she got home that night she googled him and found out that he ran a school for teaching girls how to become Subs. She was shocked with what she saw and shut off her computer. Curiosity got the best of her eventually and she ended up back on the website asking questions and even applying for a scholarship since the five grand was way too much to pay for school when she was already trying to pay off her college loan.

The scholarship application consisted of some very intrusive forms to be filled out as well as a scandalous video as well. She was shocked at what she had to do in the video and threw everything out. The next day she pulled it out from the trash and made the video but didn't plan on sending it in. She filled out the forms but didn't plan on sending those in either. In the end she sent them in and got accepted for the scholarship. They sent her the school uniform and she went on her first day.

I was very interested as to what Sub school would entitle and I was eager to learn more. I was fascinated but could never do that myself. I will just live through Brie. The school was about teaching the girls things about themselves that they didn't even know they were possible of doing. They push them to the limit. They could leave at any time with a full refund or stay and live through the full experience.
I enjoyed the way this book was written. I would definitely recommend this book for someone wanting to learn the 101's of becoming a Sub. I would definitely read the next book... if it was free. Oh well. Too bad it's not.

Brie, a graduate filmmaker, who can't find work in her chosen field ends working in a tobacco shop...a customer leaves a business card and before we know it Brie is off to submissive training school. I don't know whether these schools exist but I can see a queue forming at the door. However, it would take a sexually confidant person who could on her first day get up to sexual activities like butt plugs inserted and sex in front of peers and tutors on the first day like that...but we go with the pretend, the maybe, the oh if only it could be...then it opens a new world, highly erotic scenes that take you on the first step of submissive training. It also made me think about how the school is challenging her soft and even harder limits from the offset...would she cope with this in reality??? Brie is instantly attracted to her Sir or Headteacher, will anything come of this? Red Phoenix has to be rated highly as an erotic writer. I considered this for 4 and even 5 stars, which for a short story surprised me. Initially I thought 5 then tempered it down in hindsight in view of the couple of concerns mentioned above. Good 4 from me and look forward to the next.

Brie works in a tobacco shop and attends 2 clients a very attractive man accompanied by a beautiful woman with red hair. He pays for the woman´s cigarettes and leaves Brie a $100 bill. She claims she doesn´t have change to which the man tells her he doesn´t need it. Under the bill she finds a business card about Submissive training. She gets curious and enters the web page. As she watches pictures of B&D some arouse her and others turn her off. She sends and email then inquiring about the school. She enrolls. And the submissive training starts......


I liked this book because the Doms push their trainees limits even though they have chosen them as turn offs in their application and how some girls respond well just as Brie and others simply run to the hills LOL. I honestly got hot with Brie´s African Dom and the other girl hairy guy :S..... What can I say this is a very well written story it makes you get into the woman´s shoes and feel just exactly like them. I even felt embarrassed when she has to make the video tape and send it to the school or when she has to perform with an audience... looking forward to read the rest of this Serie ... :*

4.5 SUBMISSION TRAINING STARS

That was so HOT... I had low expectations, because I'd read a couple of novella's and they sucked. This one exceeded my expectations or they were so low, this it hit the spot of reading something better. But with the other rating I've read, I believe I'm not the only one.

I like the idea that Brianna aka Brie, is a struggling filmmaker. After graduating from film school she takes a job that pays the bills and feels stuck, like so many of us struggling in the film business. I got that angst. When a good looking man leaves his card for her, she's intrigued by the idea of the Submission Training School. After almost talking herself out of it many times, she ends up with scholarship. Surprised that the place is housed on a college campus, Brie's first day of training makes her rethink all her preconceived notions of who she is and what she wants.

I can't wait to read more...

Really enjoyed the "short story" unfortunately I can't call this a book because it ends after the first day of training. I'm a bit disappointed that this book has been split up into multiple books. I would have prefered all of the "short stories" collaborated into one book. Now my mind is left with an unfinished story, and I've moved on to another book.

During her first day of training at the "speciality" school, she is called out about all of the things she "thinks" she doesn't like, as stated in her submited application. I found it incredibly hot that she ends up really enjoying the things she "thought" she didn't like! Brie is very sexy and eager to "learn" how to be the perfect submissive.

For a short read, I really enjoyed it..this book was about Brie's first day at submission training school..
I actually found that seeing the how's and why's of being a submissive through Brie's eyes, it helped me understand a bit more as to why subs enjoy submission and some of the feelings that sub might go through. As she was learning, I was too!
I am curious whether or not any kind of relationship will develop with "Sir" and Brie. I am finding that I really would like to see them together.
I think it is pretty good when the author has me excited for the next installment..With such a short story you would think all you get is sex and no storyline; but there is a bit of a storyline; enough to keep you emotionally engaged!
Now on to the second day of training!

I also loved Brie's journey, I love the fact that you started it from no experience at all for her, the idea of the training school and other beginners was a wonderful journey to go on throughout the series, I love all the characters and their paths as well, each one is a vital part to the series and for Brie on her journey.

The journey was intended for Brie but I found myself falling in love with Sir and his own personal journey to realizing what he wants and needs.

I have read and re-read this series over and over. I would love any other novellas you may entice us with, even on the other characters lives. I look forward to your future musings.

The Title is very intriguing and I was kinda hesitant at first to read this short read. But as I go through reading this short Hot read about Brie being a first time submissive. She learned that what she was doing is not just because of her curiosity but basically he true calling.

This was very interesting and I'm really suprised how I was hooked about the training of Brie. Will definitely read the second one.

Hmmm... I'd say it's a 50/50 book. Pretty good story line, but not well laid out. It was missing some spark. I'd hope that the author gets a bit deeper in the next book of the series. Although it was interesting, I won't be buying the next one. My standard rule: Do not buy books when the author doesn't finish it... i.e. stops right as the climax begins. I've said it once, unfortunately, I'll say it some more, FINISH THE BOOK!

Interesting story line…A center for training submissives. I wonder if there will be a series for training Dom’s…hmm. I liked this story. Brie was an engaging character and has enticed me to continue reading the series.

It was vaguely ok at first despite how weird the "classes" were set up to be but then during the second practicum I had a major ick and immediately dnf'd and deleted. It's stated that the FMC put in her application that she was bullied while going to a school that had predominantly African American students and so she said she has a fear of people of that ethnicity. Just ew, NO.

ALSO as someone who frequents the scene and on Brie's side of the slash, I can tell you that the first rule is Consent is key. Both practicums involved violating the students' preferences and limits. As an example, she also mentioned in her application that she wasn't cool with anyone over 50. The first practicum was basically being blindfolded and fucked by a stranger (no mention of if it was done with a condom or not) who ended up being like over 65--part of the "weeding out the wannabe submissives" part of the program. yuk. While it seemed to work out for Brie in the end, it still felt extremely icky. Secondly, while I noped out before it got to her turn in the second practicum, I highly suspect it was going to be being in a short scene with someone of African American descent; something she made pretty clear she was not comfortable with.

While I normally try to give eroticas grace for lack of cohesion and plot, this was an absolutely not for me.

I'm so glad that I didn't spend $$ on this.
