4.5 Stars!

This story begins with the hero, Detective Kevin McCoy. He is assigned to investigate two horrific deaths within the Human Vampire Community in New Orleans. Kevin is determined to find out the truth and when his investigation leads him to the heroine, Angel, his life becomes even more compliated. She's beautiful, she's mysterious and he is immediately drawn to her. Their mutual attraction is what keeps Kevin tormented between his desire to be with her and a conviction that she could somehow be involved in the murders.

Angel immediately recognizes that Kevin has more in common with "The Community" then he understands and Angel knows how to cure his constant exhaustion and apathy. Her mission to help Kevin only enhances her desire for him while soothing her own depression with each encounter. Although, even Angel's talent may not be enough to kill Kevin's own demons.

This series holds great sentimental value for me as this author is a personal friend of mine. That being said, this story is well written and executed. Hussey's ability to pack so much in a book and still manage to pull a romance out of it is brilliance! The character development for this trilogy is outstanding and I felt like I knew each of them personally. As most of my GR friends know about me, I enjoy "different" and THIS book/series is definitely that! It's not what you're expecting and I had a blast!

Gripping her ass, he moaned, "What the fuck do you do to me?"

I am so in love with this series, this author, and the world she has created. Deny Your Blood Lust is the third installment in the Human Vampires series. Detective Kevin McCoy is hard nosed, no nonsense, yet most of all...haunted. A gruesome homicide scene not only takes Kevin back to one of his darkest days but also launches his investigation of the Human Vampire Community deep in the heart of New Orleans.

What a wonderful world this author has created. I was hooked from the first book. I've never physically been to New Orleans, but after reading all three books of this series, I feel like I've been right in the heart of the city. I was thrilled to hear about Armand and Julia once again in this book. Armand's attitude was aggravating me and I actually wanted to punch him. I was so happy when he came to his senses and loved he did it in such a hot way! Both Angel and Kevin were likable characters and I wanted to see them get their HEA. It was a bumpy road, but they finally got there. This book ended with several things up in the air and left me curious about Lohr and his intentions. Can't wait to read more from C.D. Hussey.

Another spectacular read by C.D.Hussey!

When Carla asked if I would like to read and review her latest HV book, I couldn't hit reply fast enough. I admit, I have been a huge fan since buying her first book; her perspective on the "vampire" was definitely unexpected (what a relief!),her writing so very realistic and her plot and pacing fine-tuned. This has not changed over 3 novels. Her characters are compelling and very, very human. I can imagine myself having a glass of wine with any of them -- and maybe having a bit more with her sexy males ;)as this author seems to know my "taste" in men ...

Eveillez features Angel, a platinum blonde bombshell vampire who oozes sex, who was introduced in a prior book. Frankly, I did not care much for her then as I perceived her to be callous and self-centered but through Hussey's deft words I learned about Angel's public personna and why she developed it, how her vampiric needs forced her to do so and how alone she actually was even though everyone knew her and was attracted to her energy.. NOLA Detective Kevin McCoy is a total mess: recently relocated to New Orleans after a stakeout went horribly, fatally wrong, Kevin is determined to arrest anyone and everyone connected with the murders of two young women in Lohr's entourage (we met the sexy but very, very dark vampire Lohr in the other books) and Angel is a "person of interest" in way more ways than one. Angel recognizes a human vampire like herself in Kevin and is drawn to him like she's never been drawn to anyone before. Both dishelved and stubborn Kevin and physically perfect sex goddess Angel could easily be unlikeable but are not because we clearly understand their inner turmoil and see their physical frailities. They are more alike than they know.

Ms. Hussey smartly brings back many of her previous characters, and I really enjoyed that. As I read about the problems between newlyweds Armand and Julia, who I adored in the first book,I felt the need to comfort them; their pain and inability to connect and trust so very realistic that I was shocked at strength of it and had to remind myself this is only a book of fiction and these were not my personal friends. What writing!

My disclaimer: you MUST read the first and second books of this series-in order-prior to enjoying this one! The shock of Armand and Julia's book is not evident in this one; it veers in a slightly different direction but does not disappoint. Ms. Hussey's imagination is still in fine form, her writing and editing is close to flawless and La Luxure is still the hottest club in the French Quarter! I recommend these books and look forward to the next Human Vampire book (but don't cut Armand's hair, Carla!).

Another win for the Human Vampire series. It centers around Angel (who I have been looking forward to reading more about since book 1) and a new homicide detective investigating the murders in book 2. He feels that everyone connected to Sang Community has partial guilt in the deaths. It doesn't help that he is inordinately attracted to Angel and that her blood makes him feel invincible. Is she trying to corrupt his investigation?

Eveillez focused on not only the main couple, but the main characters from book 1. Armand is having a hard time not taking responsibility for the deaths that Lohr caused. He doesn't want to burden his new wife with that dark side of him. The book felt divided between the two story lines. I think it might have just had a little middle book syndrome.

I did not love it as much as the first two but it was a very good read and well worth the price. I am a big fan of CD Hussey. The author weaves a good story and builds characters that the reader can care about and be attracted to. I am still hooked on the Human Vampires and look forward to book 4 this summer. I will likely buy it on it as soon as it hits shelves. :)

I really like this series, and Deny Your Blood Lust was good addition. I love this idea of Human Vampires and Angels "Energy/Prana Vampire".........being a Buddhist, this makes quit a bit of sense to me actually. These books are unlike anything that I've read. Which is a huge plus. I really loved the mystery and side stories that come with these books!

The connection between Kevin and Angel was a little shaky for me, but I think I had high expectations for Angel and Kevin wasn't living up to them.

I was a little saddened by the riff between Julia and Armand............Hello you married her and you didn't tell her you had issue with control/anger..........then you couldn't trust her to tell her? You're a Human Vampire, Armand!! Obviously she loves you with no judgements. Okay done with rant. I took a star away because this was not computing.

I wouldn't categorize this Human Vampire series as paranormal, but the spiritual elements push it to the edges of contemporary romance. This is the third book and focuses on Angel and Detective McCoy, however, the H/h from book one hogged a lot of the stage. I enjoyed Julia/Armand the first time around, so this didn't bother me, but it did take away some of the relationship building between Angel/Kevin. None of the characters are actual vampires, but they share some of the attributes that are romanticized in their fictional namesakes. The uniqueness of this underground world makes this series stand-out. I'll be watching for future releases.

I'm still loving C.D. Hussey's Human Vampire series. The story continues with Angel and I am so glad. Angel is such an interesting character. After this story she's even more interesting and complex. Her back story and seeing into her current personal life just make her more human and you love her more. Kevin the Dectective is perfect for her. His story is a new one for this series and I was thrilled to see him discover himself. We also get to revisit the characters in the previous books which I loved.

I really enjoyed this book. A friend of mine recommended this human vampire series and I was pleasently suprised. This is the third installment and I'm looking forward to the fourth. This book really goes in detail about the human vampire culture.
