This is the last book in the Clock of Stars trilogy. Like the others, it features illustrations by Chris Riddell (which was the reason I bought the first one, in the first place). The illustrations are brilliant - I truly wish there were more.
For the final instalment, we see Imogen and Marie back in our own world. Both of them have their own worries, but we also see that both of them have grown, and developed, in different ways since their last adventure. Their relationship is changing too, and this makes the story feel slightly more authentic; for what they have seen and experienced, it would only be natural for them to change over time, and for their relationship to change. The difference with this final part of the tale is that a lot more of the action takes part in our own, real world, rather than the world through the door in Habberdash Gardens. And this one sees them having to help their step-dad, Mark. Ever since he came back from the other world in the second book, he seems to be different. And then he falls ill. Will Imogen and Marie be able to save him?
I really enjoyed this trilogy. There is a part of me that will be sad to see Imogen and Marie go.
