Mackenzie returns home from the summer with her grandma, certain that Wesley is out of her life for good. Until the nightmares resurface, and strange things start to happen. Is Wesley back? When the danger escalates and threatens those closest to her, Mackenzie must fight to save them. Only this time the evil is more powerful, and Mackenzie is faced with an impossible decision.
Amber Garza has had a passion for the written word since she was a child making books out of notebook paper and staples. Her hobbies include reading and singing. Coffee and wine are her drinks of choice (not necessarily in that order). She writes while blaring music, and talks about her characters like they're real people. She lives with her husband and two kids in Folsom, California, which is also home to another Amber Garza.
“She stood on the grass, her sheer nightgown billowing around her like a cloud. Her blond hair framed her face in a ragged mess. She spoke in a monotonous voice like a chant. Almost as if she was reciting something. Her eyes were glassy, her pupils wide.”
This was very similar to the first in the series, but thankfully this one was shorter.
Kenzie was pretty rude again in this story, she was mean to her mother, she was mean to her best friend, and it wasn’t surprising that people didn’t seem to like her very much.
The storyline in this was about Kenzie not liking her mother’s new boyfriend, and not liking her best friend’s new boyfriend, and becoming friends with a new boy (who obviously wasn’t her boyfriend) – looks like most of this story is about boyfriends. Huh. We also got a couple of cameos from the demon that was stalking Kenzie in book 1.
The ending to this left us with a romantic cliff-hanger. Like I said, most of this book was about boyfriends so I suppose it was fitting! 6 out of 10
Right of the bat I want to give a huge thank you to Author Amber Garza for “Entice”, the enthralling second book of the “Prowl Trilogy”, that Amber so graciously gifted me after I had won “Unveil” which is book 3 of the trilogy. (I contacted her so I could read the trilogy together)
Now I’d like to give my fair and unbiased opinion on Entice, in a review for this jammed packed amazing book!!!
Mackenzie returns home from spending the summer with her Grandmother. So many things had happened while she was there, some good, but some bad also - (Wesley) She felt certain that Wesley (a ghost-spirit) was out of her life for good. Until the nightmares return to the surface, and strange things begin to happen… (raaah ooh) is Wesley back again?
When the danger escalates, and threatens those closest to Kenzie, Mackenzie must fight to save them. Only this time around the evil is so much more powerful, and Mackenzie is faced with one of the most impossible decisions that she must make.
Mackenzie, still has the love interest from her Grandmother’s. her best friend is mad at her, now theres a new boy showing a great deal of interest in her!!! (oh man, another one) oh and did I mention about Wesley being back in her nightmares? Yep, I did… there’s a twist though, because it seems that Wesley has possessed Mackenzie’s mom (this can’t be good) * shakes head*
I think that I can honestly say that I enjoyed “Entice” better than Prowl… don’t get me wrong, Prowl was a great debut novel to start this phenomenal trilogy off - it’s just that with Entice the storyline gets more intense with a much more fast paced continuation from Prowl, which is a GOOD thing not a not bad thing.
There’s powerful life lessons, with huge choices or decisions that have to be made. Lessons, and choices just like teenagers and or adults face daily in our own lives…. A unique opportunity for parents to approach and engage their teenager in a open conversation about the situations that come up in Entice… actually that are in the whole trilogy. (I love that Amber has done this)
Entice brings you face to face with self reflection, (to me this is something that is so critical in life) honesty, (an absolute must) some pretty eye opening truths, and then some heart wrenching choices that also must be made.
*HATS OFF* to Author Amber Garza for “Entice”, with it’s amazing storyline combined with true lessons in life!!!
I know for a fact that I wouldn’t want to be a teenager in today’s crazy world. No sirie!!!
But always remember that through all of the choices or decisions we make, whether that are right or wrong - we learn from each one. And above all, remember we are “always” loved from above. (-:
Entice picks up where Prowl left off, with Kenzie back home and starting her last year of school. She’s continued her relationship with Isaac, despite the difficulties of long distance. Although Kenzie thinks she defeated the demon haunting her life, he has managed to maneuver his way into the lives of those she loves. Plus, an old crush comes around and begins to make time for Kenzie and be a solid presence when she’s struggling. I’m going to start off by saying I really liked Tanner’s character. He wasn’t overdone, or one dimensional and I felt like we got a better glimpse into this new relationship than we did with Isaac and Kenzie. Drake was dark and entertaining, and I was happy to see Haley come around at the end. Although a book with strong Christian views, I was still able to enjoy the story as a paranormal fan and have to give props to Amber for the cliffhanger at the end!
The Good: Entice was fast paced and an even better read than Prowl. Excellent pacing, dialogue, and world building.
The Issue: I hate to say it, but I had an issue with Isaac in this one. Although there were glimpses of it in Prowl, I found him to be very judgmental and pushy in wanting Kenzie to only hang out with people from church, as if no one else is approved. It definitely made me appreciate Tanner more.
The Rating: 4.5 conch. An intriguing story with great characters that leaves you wanting more. You will read this in a day and you better have Unveil in your hands ready to go!
Just like the first book, this was great! I cannot wait to get started on the third book!
So. I was kinda right and kinda wrong with what I said before. Wesley is back! He's not a really prominent character like the first book, but he's there. In the shadows.
I was super sad that Haley and Mackenzie got into this rift and weren't really talking throughout the whole book. I really do like Haley! I'm glad that they 'kissed and made up' in the end.
And there's new romance in this book! We all thought that Isaac was the one for her, but there's another guy who she has feelings for also! Tanner. Okay, but I have to say I am totally shipping Kensic. (That's Mackenzie and Isaac's names mashed together) I feel so proud that I came out with that. I agree with what Isaac said too. What guy would hit on another guy's girl? Like, really Tanner. Really?
Kenzie's mom was really a shocker for me. We learn about some of her past when she was pregnant with Kenzie. And Wesley is really, really, really, really mean. Okay. He's super duper uper mean. Yeah. I really hope that Kenzie's mom gets better and fights off her demons!
The cliffy at the end was so mean! If I didn't have the third book right here up and ready, I would be totally screaming and yelling and ranting about how I so wanted to read the third book. Really Amber. That was a really mean cliffhanger! I just have to say, I am hoping she'll pick Isaac over Tanner.
Overall, this book was great! After I finish writing this post, I am ready to go back into my hole and read Unveil! 4 Stars!
what can i say about Entice??? that it's the HOTTEST BOOK EVER!!!!!!!!!! Amber Garza brought us back into Kenzie's world in this explosive new book! don't pick up this book until you have nothing but time to read it because i assure you that once you start reading your not going to put it down because i sure didn't! i had the whole book read in 2 hours! its powerful, gripping, heart breaking and emotional all wrapped up in one and im DYING waiting for book 3 to finish so i can find out what happens next!!!
Kenzie is back and the world around her seems to be crashing all around her.. her friend Kayla is upset with her, she has a new boy interested in her and is it possible that the old demon Wesley is back and has taken over Kenzie's mom? can she fight wesley off and save her mom in time, make up with her best friend and choose between two guys shes fallen in love with? get Enticed!
Grrr... I hate cliffhangers!!! I'm just thankful that I have the entire series at hand and only have to wait a couple of minutes to continue the story instead of having to wait months for the release of the third book
This one didn't have a lot of chilling moments but it did have a lot of frustrating ones. I hate when you're trying to tell someone something important and they either don't believe you, don't hear what you're really saying or they're simply not answering the phone!!!
It was a great story and continuation of the series. I just wish that Kenzie had learned her leason during the summer and hadn't doubted what she was seeing/experiencing so much and would have acted sooner.
Once again the second book was just as great as the first! I couldn't put it down read it in one day! This Series really makes you stop and think I can't wait to read the next!
I received the opportunity to read Prowl and to follow is my fair and unbiased review:
Prowl is the first book in the Prowl trilogy.
Blurb:
Seventeen-year-old Mackenzie Smith is sent away to spend a boring summer at her grandma’s. But then she meet Wesley. He tells her exactly what she want to hear and has information about her past that no one else knows . It’s almost like he can read her mind. Only Wesley isn’t who he seems. By the time Mackenzie discovers his true identity it may be too late. She’s in too deep and he won’t let her go. Now Mackenzie must call on the strongest power of all in order to save her life.
My review:
The book is well written fast paced and interesting it keeps you glued to the pages trying to figure out what’s happening and how Mackenzie is going to handle everything . You get a look into the life of a teen and see how they see the would. It has a good story, plot, very strong stand alone characters and character building is very good.
“O My Goodness Prowl is hard to put down .”
Mackenzie is shipped off to her grandmothers for the summer where she meets a hot Christian boy named Isaac and a strange new friend named Rhiannon. Mackenzie has a lot of questions are they going to get answered or not. And Mackenzie biggest question is who is her dad. Her mother won’t tell her and her grandmother doesn’t know much about him. Rhiannon showed Mackenzie her Ouija board and they started playing with it. Now there’s a spirit after Mackenzie and he is making her life miserable. At the end of the book does Mackenzie find God and does he save her ?. Can Mackenzie keep her faith in him?..
I don’t know but I’m gonna after I get started on #2 Entice Bye gone reading…
Recommend: teens and up Rating: 4/5 Soul Stars Soulfyre Reviews
In book 2 Kenzie has returned home from the summer with her grandmother. Even though she wasn't look for it she found love with Issac and together they are continuing their relationship however long distance. Kenzie is glad to be home to be with her best friend Haley yet she's not so sure of her new boyfriend who she doesn't trust. She let's it slip to Haley she doesn't think he's not a good guy for her and that let's loose Haley on a war path putting there friendship on hold.
Kenzie also has a new friend this year Tanner who she attends her church group with but people are starting to suspect that he's more then just a friend, even Kenzie. She has a hard time being long distance from Issac and the distraction of Tanner may just be to much for her. As if fighting with her best friend, dealing with a new love interest, now her mom has decided to go bonkers from who she used to be. Kenzie is also having nightmares from Wesley, and doesn't trust her mom's new boyfriend.
I had to read book two after such a great first book, didn't hurt that I also had it for the upcoming blog tour either. I really like Kenzie as a character she's grown a lot from the girl she started out in Prowl. I really like the Issac relationship I think he's good for her, and helps her see what's better for her. I was a little shocked at the way her mom reacts to some things in the book, but I think that goes back to both of them having their own personal demons to deal with. It's such a great series a honest must read for everyone because the series gives a little to everyone.
Entice is the second book I've read by Amber Garza (the first being Prowl earlier this year) and I really enjoyed it! It was easy to read and very interesting!
The characters were great and the love triangle between Kenzie, Isaac, and Tanner kept me intrigued (even though I knew who Kenzie ended up with, having read a spoiler review).
Entice dealt a lot with spiritual warfare and demons/angels, which was interesting; but I will say, a few things I found weird and didn't like.
Entice ended with a major cliffhanger, so if/when you read it, you'll probably want to have Unveil (book three) on hand - I had to read it right after I finished Entice. :)
If you enjoy YA fiction with some supernatural elements, then I think you might enjoy Entice, although you'll probably want to read Prowl (book one) first to completely understand what had happened to Kenzie earlier.
*I received a complimentary eBook copy of this book for my review. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion, which I've done. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*
Entice picks up where Prowl left off. Kenzie has come home after spending the summer with her grandmother and having a demon try to possess her. She leaves behind her boyfriend Isaac who she misses but she is so happy to be able to hang out with her best friend Haley. That is until she and Haley have a fight about Haley’s new boyfriend Ian.
Kenzie starts going to church and sees Tanner, the guy she used to have a crush on, there. During the summer Tanner had also become a Christian and now he wants to be friends with Kenzie. While their friendship deepens, Kenzie has to deal with her mom acting strange and her mom’s creepy boyfriend Drake. She comes to find out that Drake once sold some drugs to Tanner and now he sold the same to Haley’s boyfriend.
Entice is even more intense than Prowl. There are so many lessons and choices to be made but who will Kenzie turn to when she needs helps. Watch for an awesome cliffhanger ending!
WOW! I was not sure if I had my expectations set to high starting this second book in this outstanding series, "Prowl Trilogy" or not. Right here and now let me say NO I DIDN'T!!! I was once again thrown into the book and yanked around with my emotions all over again as the main character Mackenzie returns for the summer.
I could not contain myself while once again getting all wrapped up:
I was so excited to pick up this book! I just couldn't wait to see what happened next for Kenzie, her mom, and of course Isaac! I have to say..... I was definitely not disappointed. We stay with Kenzie now that she's gone back home. She is back in all of her old surroundings and finding out that being a new Christian is increasingly lonely and difficult...
This book was even darker than the first if that's at all possible. The story picks up with Kenzie having returned home to find that her new found faith is going to be tested on all fronts. As with the first book in the series I would recommend this one for older teens/YA due to the graphic descriptions. Know that you really need to have the next book on hand to begin reading immediately following this book or you will be left with a lot of unanswered questions.
Amber I loved the book, I am becoming more than simply a fan of reading your books, I can't wait till the next one comes out. I love how you are able to share you faith and convictions in such a way that cuts to the chase without sugar coating it, and without distorting the plot of your storyline. Simple and to the point, yet so powerful and effective.
Entice is the second book in the Prowl Trilogy. I was amazed at the twists and turns in the plot, much more than the first book. I actually enjoyed this book very much. Amber pens her characters in this second book very believable and emotional.
This review is based on a complimentary copy which was provided for an honest review.
Ok, this love triangle is annoying! I mean honestly, both guys were insta-love to start with and no offense to Kenzie but she definitely made a lot of stupid moves. The demons are frickin creepy though!
Oh don't get me started on Tanner, what he did was so not ok. Maybe I'm just not that forgiving of a person, but I would never be able to trust him at all in a relationship.
I had so much fun writing this book and continuing on with Kenzie's journey. The characters kept surprising me and I felt even more connected to them than in the first book of the trilogy. After reading this book, make sure to visit my blog and vote on the ending of the trilogy. Thanks for reading!
