Is there anywhere safe when you're the object of someone's obsession?
Alexandria Stevens is a New York Times best-selling romance novelist. After she makes a guest appearance on a popular TV talk show, she creates a Twitter account. Within a few short weeks she meets a fan, and they become fast friends…or that's what Alex thinks. When Alex finds herself being stalked, the person she least suspects is her new friend Jillian. What she doesn't know is that Jillian has been obsessed with her for years. She wants everything Alex has, even her husband.
Content sexual situations, adult language, violence.
I loved that this was an interesting way to bring the potential problems of social media to the romance genre. The premise is very clever and unique. I liked Obsession enough to finish it. However, there were numerous grammatical errors that drove me nuts (Her and Hudson instead of She and Hudson, at least twice). A writer should know better and an editor definitely should have caught that. There was also way too much "moaning and groaning" in the love scenes. Was it sexy time or were they moving furniture? The character of Alex Stevens is pretty well developed but Jillian and the rest of the cast felt very one-dimensional. After the first scene, we really have no inkling what is going on in Jillian's head. There is no real suspense or build up to the climax. Finally, the book went on for way too long. I kept thinking it was over and then we got "8 months later" "6 months later" "22 months later" I thought it would never end! What was worse is those additional "endings" didn't really add much to the story. It almost felt like two books were crammed and merged together. A romance and a romantic suspense and neither were woven into the other very well. I did enjoy reading a romance with an already established married couple. That was a nice touch. Overall, it's a good read, but not a great read. It was a great idea that could have been much, much better.
Where can I even begin to describe this book...........other than Double WOW??!! I do not normally read this type of book but I absolutely could not put down my kindle once I started reading this story. Alexandria Stevens is a best selling romance author. After being on a talk show and getting talked into starting her own Twitter account, so that her fans could "follow" her, little did she know that one of those fans has a grudge against Alex & will go to any measure to get back at Alex for something that happened many years ago. When Alex starts getting threatening notes & presents, nobody can figure out who would be doing it. It is obvious that who ever this stalker is, they mean business about causing harm to Alex.
I absolutely loved the relationship between Alex and her husband, Hudson. The love scenes between the two are HOT HOT HOT and the reader might just need to be splashed with water to cool down!! :-)
Obsession is a very well written story that has a fantastic storyline, hot romance scenes and suspense that literally keeps the reader on the edge of their chairs!!
I definitely recommend this book and I know it will for sure be on my to read again list.
Ms. Soana brings the "twitterverse" to the Romance world. That's not something I've ever read before. This book takes contemporary to a whole new level. Obsession is a suspenseful story of a woman who takes her "obsession" much too far. I had chills reading some of the scenes. Romance authors everywhere beware;)
This is Ms. Soana's debut novel and I think she did a great job out of the gate. I look forward to seeing what she brings us next!
Social Media is everywhere, and lots of us use it. Obsession by Tamaria Soana is a novel about how vulnerable we truly are. Even when we’re careful sometimes we trust the wrong person and it can turn out horrific.
Alexandra is an author, with a loving devoted husband, she’s a new times best selling author and while on a televised talk show, the hosts are shocked to find that she’s not on twitter. Alex agrees with their help to create her an account. Now she’s tweeting and there’s a woman with a grudge…
I’ll tell you right off that this is a book you’re not going to be able to put down. It’s highly addicting and engaging. The way that it’s written you know who has it out for Alex, and I think that’s a brilliant way to tell the story. You’ll say Alex don’t do it several times during the course of the book. It has several twists and turns, that will leave you wondering until the very end.
I loved how she brought so much of today into play millions of people tweet daily, it's become an obsession amoung us. The enter action between Alex and Hudson was refreshing to read. Not many authors choose to us married people in their books. The story kept me on my toes until the very end. As with so many books being pubished these days there are some small grammatical errors, but the story line lets you over look them. This will be on my self and I will be telling others to read it. I live with my nose in books, so it will be read again and again over the years. I know this is her first book to be published and for a first time author I feel Tamaria did great. I will be looking for anything else she writes. She is an author to look out for.
A friend of mine had recently published her book Obsession.
I don't want to give away too much, but it really does open a person's eyes that they should be cautious when on social network sites.
If you have watched lifetime movies most in particular "The Craigslist Killer", you will definitely get a kick out of this book! It made me want to delete all of my accounts on social network sites. It's available through Amazon and Barnes and Noble for a very reasonable price. Hope everyone enjoys
Alexandria is a New York Times best selling artist. Her friends convince her to join Twitter so they can keep up with her and her fans can follow her. What she doesn't count on is one of her fans holding a grudge against her and not only wanting everything that she has to include her husband, but wants her to pay for what they accuse her of doing long ago.
Its a book full of very sexy love scenes, great friendships and suspense that will not let you put the book down until you finish it!
I loved how Jillian had completely morphed herself into someone new to hide her true identity from Alex and slid into her life. It's amazing what her jealousy led her to do & the lengths she took to get what she wanted.
Great job showing the love of the family & true friends who helped Alex through the whole ordeal.
Without giving away spoilers, I can safely say that Tamaria Soana did an excellent job of pushing the genre forward into the twenty-first century. Her innovative use of social networking as a tool for the protagonist to get embroiled in a world of suspense, intrigue, and love is strikingly new (at least to me) and delightfully refreshing.
Alex thought she had a great life. Good friends, a sexy husband and a great career as an author. Things were going well until she started getting threats. Jillian had a plan and she set out to put it in action. This was a great book and I loved how fast you got connected to the characters. If you are looking for a great short read then look no further!
This book will definitely make you think the next time you log into Twitter about just who might be on the other side of the twitter handle. A great book. One you will find yourself on the edge of your seat waiting to see what is going to happen.
I read this in just a couple of hours. I couldn't put it down. I love how Tamaria took social media and put the negative spin on what can happen. There is no way to guarantee that you know who is on the other end of that screen name.
I'll admit it, I can get obsessed with my favorite authors, but Jillian takes that to a whole new level. Her obsession with Alexandria Stevens is diabolical.
Tamaria gives us a story about a writer just trying to do what she loves and make a future with her husband. Jillian will stop at nothing to get what she wants, revenge.
I enjoyed this story, a lot. Tamaria's storytelling is superb. You really get to know Alex and feel for her as everything start happening. And Hudson is such an amazing husband to Alex, and extremely handsome to boot.
Just be careful who you get close to in the "twitterverse".
This is a wonderful book, and a very talented author. This book crabs you from the start and I love how she brings in the world of twitter which most people use all the time. Really makes you take a look at who you are befriending. Cannot wait to see what other great stories this author brings us.
I really didn't like this book. I don't want to be mean but I have to say this was one of the worst books I've ever read and I've read some crap books before. I couldn't even finish it. After reading this I don't want to see or hear the name Alex for a long time!!
