Robert Gamble Blakewood, one of the CIA's top sources in the Cold War, has died under suspicious circumstances in Prague. The Czechs appear to have known of Blakewood's clandestine operations--and yet they've raised no alarms at all for years, and are simply shipping Blakewood's remains back to the US as fast as they can, no questions asked.Jonathan Chase has been dispatched to Praugue to unravel the mystery of the Czech government's unusual behavior, and the secrets that Blakewood had been in the midst of uncovering that appear to have gotten him killed. But Chase has a personal matter to attend to as well. The Chinese Colonel who tortured him mercilessly decades ago has resurfaced. And while Chase may be devoted to peace, the Colonel is the one man for whom Chase has no choice but to break his vows.In SPYSCRAPER, Q. R. Markham once again offers up the smart storytelling that Kirkus called a ""brainy and enticing ... narrative hall of mirrors in which nothing and no one are as they seem and emotion is a perilous thing to have."
