With a cover featuring pale hands with super long red nails wearing lacy gloves I could not resist this book. Of course, I found it in some boxes that belong to my mother...what a steal! This book originated in Japan, and by the charming illustrations that line the page it is fairly obvious. No patterns are shown, but it is a great reference when following other patterns. The instructions are precise, detailed, classic, and varied. Should you hold your yarn in your left hand, right hand, or in a completely unconvential way you will be covered by the instructions. Some sections even have different drawings for different techniques. Entertaining to flip through, and good to follow step by step when you encounter trouble. In a world full of “hip, funky, fabulous, modern, chic, glorious, sexy, hot, rebellious” knits it is good to revisit the days of simple instructions, which many of the new knitting books are lacking. Great for beginners, enjoyable for those with a bit more experience. And really inspiring...what is cooler than wearing lacy gloves to knit?

A little confusing, but they jam a lot of information into this slim, little booklet.
