But sometimes they find their own lives in need of a healing touch. Jonica Carr is a respected nurse, but behind her calm and capable demeanor beats the heart of a scared and frightened little girl. Can she find her Lamp in Darkness? A friendship has developed since Nurse Galbraith and Dr. Barton have worked together. Now, as love starts to blossom, terrible Flickering Flames of the past also break through. Lindsey Best is proud to be a nurse at the prestigious hospital, but outside forces war against her newly Kindled Spark of peace...and may ruin a chance for love. COLLEEN L. REECE writes under the pen name Connie Loraine and is one of Heartsong's most popular authors. Colleen learned to read beneath the rays of a kerosene lamp. The kitchen, dining room, and her bedroom in her home near the small logging town of Darrington, Washington, were once a one-room schoolhouse where her mother taught all eight grades! An abundance of love for God outweighed the lack of electricity or running water and provided the basis for many of Colleen's 140+ books.

Her rigid "refuse to compromise" stance has helped sell more than 6 million copies that help spread the good news of repentance, forgiveness, and salvation through Christ. Colleen helped launch Barbour Publishing's Romance Reader flip books, the American Adventure series, and her own Juli Scott Super Sleuth Christian teen mystery series. In 1998 Colleen was inducted into the HeartSong Hall of Fame in recognition for her contribution to Heartsong's success.

This a Christian Romance that is broken up into four different Novellas. Each novella is about 100-110 pages long. These stories are interwoven with the same characters.

There are four nurses who are independent, have strong Christian values, and all work at this Christian hospital in Seattle, Washington called Shepherd of Love. Each nurse either faces problems from their past or mysterious people who come into their life that may have hidden secrets. During each story the nurses rely on God to get them through whatever rough patch in life they face and their relationship with God is thus strengthened.

Here are the the synopsises for each story;
1. Lamp in Darkness: Jonica Carr is a hard working nurse that ran away from a terrible home life. Because of her plain looks, height, and strong work ethic she has never made any real friends. She also has a very shallow relationship with God. But when a surgeon at work wants to be her friend but he also has an ex-fiancee that wants to rekindle their romance.

2. Flickering Flames: Nancy Galbraith works in pediatrics and is getting too emotionally involved with her patience. Dr. Barton expresses concern about how she might to be affected by her emotions at work. Both Nancy and Dr. Barton have pasts that are heavily affecting their lives now. Nancy lost people very close to her when she was only 5 and Dr. Barton has a troublesome brother that he is trying to leave in the Lord's hands instead of bailing him out all the time.

3. Kindled Spark: At Shepherd of Love two new eligeble men come to work. Both seem to take an interest in Lindsey Best. Lindsey finds herself attracted to both but when mysterious things start occuring in the hospital she finds that she trusts one more than the other instinctively.

4. Hearth of Fire: Patti Thompson has been falling in love with the wrong guys recently. She meets a kind older patient who invites her to come take a vacation in his home town. She jumps at the chance to get away from work and her latest romantic interest. What she doesn't expect is that this vacation will open her eyes and change her life.

I enjoyed all four stories about these wonderful, strong, and lovable nurses. I found their stories truly inspiring and heart-warming. I give it five stars and recommend it to anyone who likes Christian Romances.
