Well written, D/s story about a woman who doesn't realize she is a submissive until she meets Mark. I thought the discipline and assignments went rather fast, for a girl who never lived the life before, she was certainly putting in butt plugs and crawling around on her knees pretty quickly. And there is one whipping/punishment scene that made me feel pain. Otherwise, it's a generally familiar story line, with f/f action also. The ending will literally have your mouth drop open! And it's part of a series!

I liked this very much. The story follows Heather, a recently qualified lawyer, to a night out with old college mate Rebecca as she tries to get her life back and move on from a two-timing fiancee relationship. It becomes a pivotal moment that will change her life; that introduces her to Mark a Master in the BDSM community. He recognizes her natural submissive tendencies then leads and educates her into the world of submission with his strong Dominance to guide and control her. In all honesty there are many aspects of BDSM that she learns of and experiences that can be found in other books, plus some original situations in this Sadey Quinn 276 page novel. There are some hot erotic, titillatingly delicious scenes for adult readers to enjoy.
This is the first of two completed novels that follow each other and the end of this has quite a surprise in it that will test Heather's strength of character and submission as a slave, in her relationship and place she believes she holds within her Master's life. it also covers aspects of isolated BDSM town communities that are self ruling and self regulating that has been new, interesting and well thought out in terms of pros and cons for all its inhabitants which I found fascinating. I like the way Heather's mindset and her psychology changes. Some of the problems that a well educated and intelligent independent woman would have difficulty with as in handing control and submitting to a Dom for punishment or things she initially has on her initial hard limits list that by submitting to and experiencing become softer or no limits. The negative that keeps this a four not five star novel are a few typos that were missed but insufficient to interfere with the reading process...more an irritation to discerning readers that should have been edited out. I have sufficient faith and enjoyment to purchase the rest of Sadey Quinns novels and novellas and look forward with anticipation of reading the follow on to this novel.

I just could not get into the relationship between Heather and Mark. He came off as sort of plastic and uncaring to me and I was puzzled why she would want to submit to him let alone give away her brain.

I thought some of the BDSM scenes were pretty intense especially the wall sit punishment scene but that kind of beating doesn't really do much for me because the aftermath always seems unrealistic. I am always amazed at the resiliency of these women who can take that kind of beating and not ever mention how much it f'ing hurts afterward. It is always like it never happened and they go on plopping beaten butts into chairs without a care in the world. Fictional subs must come with teflon butts.

But, I digress.....

The twist at the end was a nice touch touch- I should have suspected considering how many others were involved. I know there is a follow up book and I imagine I will read it too. I will be hoping that Mark finds a personality and Heather retrieves her brain.

We aren't in Kansas anymore Toto - we are in Rock Creek.

I had read some of the reviews of this book. I had noted how most people seemed to be surprised by the ending. I bought the book. I started reading it. I even sneak-peaked a bit at one of the chapters close to the end. It seemed obvious what was going to happen. All the pieces were falling into place. I could see it a mile away. And then I get to the last chapter and it's just as I expected.
And then I get to the last page.
And then my jaw hit the floor.
I didn't see that coming. There was an extra piece that I hadn't accounted for. But it fell quite nicely into place, I must say.

So yeah, this is a great book. It's super hot. It's exceptionally well-written. It's difficult to write sex well. It often falls into one of two pitfalls. Either it's too mechanical (in, out, in, out, grunt, in, out...) or it's too poetic (her bossom was like the morning dew glistening upon the window in early Spring whilst...). The great sex is somewhere in-between these two. This book nails it perfectly. And all the sex scenes are so interesting. They're inventive, even for a perverted mind like mine who has read plenty of these kind of books already. And it never gets gross or sick or otherwise too hardcore. It mostly uses humiliation as a driving force for the D/s, and it works so well.

I'm not sure I'm a big fan of the whole Rock Creek idea that the story starts pushing by the end, and which will probably be the focus of the second book. I kind of prefer the realism that the story revolves around initially. Rock Creek presents a fantasy, and though the author does a lot to make it seem plausible, I still feel as if the story slips a bit from contemporary to sci-fi / make-believe / fantasy.
But despite saying all that, I'm going straight into the second book, so yeah.

This book is for only readers interested in BDSM novels and related antics associated with this lifestyle.

The descriptions are very vivid and straight forward, Sadey has not held back in this story what so ever. If profanity displeases you then this read is not for you. Words are used as part of play and the slave lifestyle - which some reader may find quiet offensive. So be warned!! lol.

The blurb says it all for an introduction into what the book vaguely entails. There is anal, oral, menage , submissive behaviour and many aspects associated with the BDSM - ** Bondage - Discipline - Dominance and Submission lifestyle.

Keep in mind whilst reading this novel that Sadey has put forth that all activities taken and performed are all consensual.

My thoughts.

Sadey has definitely has done her homework within this story, giving the reader a good in-depth story containing many ventures and antics involved in the lifestyle she has put forth. The only thing I can say is I disliked , was Mark constantly told Heather he could trust her but in the end I felt he abused that trust ??

We can see Mark here is the Domineering partner - I must say I didn’t feel any connection to him what so ever as her Dom Master - Sir he did not practice what I would call a normal BDSM relationship, he told Heather to trust him and he not only manipulated her but lied to her... It’s about trust and honesty. I DID NOT LIKE MARK WHAT SO EVER...(( at first I did - he was strong, domineering and sexy as sin - but after the last pages I was like hmm a scorned woman lol )).. Im sure Ill get over it lol..

I would like to have seen more heart involved with him. But at times he did show his Sub A LITTLE care and love she needed.

The storyline was well put forth = giving the reader vivid descriptions and at times, I was slightly held back, in certain scenes. Wandering if his sub was really able to cope with the new lifestyle he put forth. I found him quiet aggressive at first, in the sense of he was very full on straight off, not weening her into submission gentler. !

Sadey has written this book well. It’s delivered with all the aspects and information, great descriptions and all scenes set out well. The only justice I can say for what Mark did at the end is he figures she is his slave and is only on a need to know basis.. But really ?? This is not normal DOM behaviour ! Mistrust or better deceit is not an issue I like to read in these novels.

THE ENDING!! I was like - WTF.... you’re shittin me! Id surely packs my bags and high tale it out of there. I felt for Heather - betrayed and used - and most definitely peeved off loll... I like BDSM based novels, but I feel with this one, Mark just didn’t do it for me... however I read this in one sitting and was compelled to read on.

How is this so lol - Sadey most certainly did something right In writing this novel, it compels the reader to read on to find out how Heather’s new life pans out ! I’m not into slavery or humiliation but saying this each to their own as far as what they read and enjoy. ** Everyone has a flavour they enjoy ** wink

I will be reading the next book in this series to see how it goes.

I have rated this book on Sadey's compelling writing style that does draw the reader in ,, and have you wanting more at each page turn . Overall I enjoyed this story and the BDSM content.

As my GR friends know I read some of the kinkiest books out there I love BDSM, menage and even a lot of non-con books. It takes a lot for me to hate a book..... well, this author did it, she made me hate it!! (Note: I did read the sequel, which is also very well written and makes me hope for a third. So while this book really pissed me off and I have some major issues with some of the charactors it still is a very compelling book.)

Before I get into the below spoilers I must say that Ms. Quinn's style of writing was wonderful, she certainly kept my attention and I actually still remember the whole story even after reading another book. Which, as my GR's friends know is rare for me, sadly. I've got to admit that shows how good of an author Ms. Quinn is that this story was able to touch my emotions so strongly. I've decided to change my one star rating to a four star solely because of Ms. Quinn's writing. She really kept me in my seat reading and I still am emotional about these charators 24 hours after reading it. That's a sign of excellent writing!

I honestly have no problem with menages or polyamorous relationships, nor do I have a problem with violent scenes in fiction. I just have major issues with dishonesty.

WARNING! MAJOR SPOILER ALERTS BELOW!!!

I'm sorry but the number one thing with BDSM MUST BE TRUST!!!!
This is NOT BDSM! This is deceit and manipulation!!!

WARNING! MAJOR SPOILER ALERT BELOW!!!

This whole book, as Mark taught the already betrayed Heather how to be a slave he kept telling her that she HAD TO TRUST HIM!!!!! And sadly she did, to the point that she changed her entire life for the scum sucking lying, cheating dirt bag!!!!!! What a way to end this book.... the author began it with a betrayal and ended it with more betrayal from not only almost everyone else but from Mark and her friend?!

This was a free read and I downloaded and read it because I wanted to see how much more intense a BDSM themed erotic novel was in comparison to a BDSM themed erotic romance. The answer? Much...too much...more.

The book's Dom requires that his "slave" trust him unconditionally, yet does nothing to earn this sort of trust. Instead, his submissive is thrown into a very heavy-duty lifestyle change that involves her degradation, humiliation, and pain almost immediately. Even worse is the ending. It serves as a lead-in to a sequel, but left me horrified.

On the one hand I feel as though the author must have some ability because reading the ending put me in the submissive's head--feeling like the rug had been pulled out from under me--but on the other, I did not enjoy finishing this book in such an unsettled fashion.

It's one thing to read literary fiction and feel unsettled. It's another to have that feeling from erotica, as far as I'm concerned.

Perhaps those who read and enjoyed this one aren't romantics at heart. I am, though, and I honestly don't understand the author's intent. I imagine that in a succesful D/s relationship there must be joy and love. None of that comes across here.

Had I been able to give this book zero stars, I would have.

OMG! This was a very additive book to read. I so wanted things to work out for Heather and Mark (I love HEA). I loved Heather and really enjoyed how she worked out her inner demons. This book was very well written. The last page was a major shock to me. Hello my mouth fell open and I literally said "WTF" out loud. I can usually tell how a book will end, since so many are way to predictable. I hated Mark after reading this book. I am currently on the sequal, Social Service, because I had to find out what happened. I am about 35% done and it is a page turner. Sadey Quinn is a fantastic writer. This, her first novel is GREAT!

I liked and disliked this book. It was very hot, don't get me wrong, but some of it was pretty intense, even for me! And the ending @_@! I definitely did not see that coming! Definitely better than 50 shades, and I say that as someone who actually did not hate 50 shades like a lot of people did.

I definitely agree with some other readers that Mark seems to demand trust, even though I don't feel he did anything to deserve it. His treatment of Heather was extreme, especially because she is new to BDSM. I feel like that level should have been worked up to, not expected of her in the beginning.

I loved this book, steamy interludes, surprise twists. I found myself confused with the dom/sub relationship at times. It kept me wanting more. I immediately started reading the sequel, Social Service. I can definitely suggest this one.

I tried to keep this spoiler free, and I did steer away from the biggies, but certain things I mention may give away just a few small things.

I did enjoy this storyline, hence the 4 stars, but several things really bugged me. I did not care for Mark. At first I thought he was charismatic and sexy, but as the story progressed he just seemed manipulative and dishonest. Since I don't live this lifestyle, maybe I'm just not in the know about how things are usually handled, but I'm pretty sure that I would want to be submissive to someone who cherished me and who I felt like I could trust. I didn't enjoy the beatings (some of which I felt were pretty severe) nor the humilation that seemed to be done just for the hell of it. Again, I don't participate in this lifestyle, so maybe they are more commonplace in a M/s relationship than I realized, but as I read about them, they just pissed me off. Although it's not marked as such, this is the first book in a series and should be read before the 2nd installment, Social Service.

Under Order is extremely well written and the character development of Heather, showing her emotions and reactions to Mark's manipulations is done in a way that the reader soon realizes the author must live this live style. I found the humiliation and forced nudity personally distasteful but could see where the character found them stimulating. I enjoy reading erotica and BDSM is my favorite; it would not be a life style choice for me but it is fascinating that others find the attraction to it. This story is erotica at its finest, with good plot development, hot sex scenes and a twist at the end to make you want to read the next book about Heather. If you seek BDSM stories both books are superior.

Great story. Quiet a bit of romance and kink mixed together.
Included quiet moments, discussions about the lifestyle from Heather's perspective and the use of safewords.

Bit of a twist at the end, but not completely unexpected.
'll definitely pick up the sequel.

One note. if the amount of time spent workings is accurate, I'm glad I'm not a lawyer.

Was kind of enjoying it until the end, this went against everything, definitely not a HEA. Took the rating from a 3.5 to a 2.5. Decided not to read the next book in the series, at least not yet and quickly grabbed a book with a HEA.

This is a well-written debut. I would classify it as erotica rather than erotic romance. It deeply explores an M/s relationship with a focus on humiliation and pain.
