About the author

William Hunter Workman practiced medicine for thirteen years at Worcester, Massachusetts. Ill-health caused retirement from practice. Has since traveled extensively by bicycle and in other ways in out-of-the-way parts of Europe, North Africa, and Asia, including Greece, Spain, Sicily, Morocco, Algeria, Tunis, Turkey, Egypt, Syria, Palestine, India, Ceylon, Java, Burma, and Cambodia.
