"Ghost Hunt 2: More Chilling Tales of the Unknown" was written by the stars of the popular reality television series "Ghost Hunters." All of the ghost stories in this book are supposed actual paranormal investigations that these two have been on together. Most of the actual paranormal activity is relatively simple and, outside of actually being there yourself, it would be hard to feel any real fear reading this book. I was not that impressed with the stories since they are little more than Jason Hawes's and Grant Wilson's own, personal, "Ghost Files," but it was somewhat interesting to learn about some of the paranormal experiences their past clients have claimed to have. Given how dull the material is I don't think there are many teenagers who would be much interested in reading it.
I was disappointed in this book. Even though I knew it was for young people, it was too elementary. I think the collaborative writer did most of the writing. I don't think the stories included were actual cases from TAPS. One of the stories was recognizable as being from the TV show, but some of the facts were not the same, or at least were not how they showed them then. If these things had really happened to them, you know that they would have been shown on TV!
The same formula was the first one, advertisements for their show and boring ass ghost stories. I think it's safe to say that I will not be reading the third installment.
I bought this book for my daughter who enjoys a good paranormal story. She never read it, so I thought I’d give it a try to see what she might be missing. I have to say, I wasn’t impressed. I really only liked a few of the stories and probably one mainly, because I had visited the town of Tombstone where one of the ghost stories took place. I honestly had a hard time reading the entire book and thought the stories were more like a kids detective series similar to how the book ends. Not chilling or the unknown at all.
Book Review Angel Cancinos review of ghost hunters 2 more chilling tales of the unknown This book is about a team named taps and what they do is hunt ghost. People around the world send them letters to investigate to see if their place is haunted. They even have a show as well the two people that started ghost hunters are grant wilson and jason hawes.
What i like about this book it that there's two of these books and that each book has more than one stories and when you read this book it makes you feel like if your actually with them. This stories are based on true stories because not to long ago on their tv show they were here in carthage missouri because the building that got burned down by the jouir high was haunted.
I would recommend this book if your into ghost stories. This book is pretty long but it's also interesting to read because it based on true stories.
Jason and Grant took some of their best cases and turned them into stories that most ages could read. I enjoyed for the simple entertainment that it was.
This is an addendum to a previous book, which contains more short stories about investigations and personal experiences. I love this team and their personalities. This was a good book. I enjoyed it.
I dunno what's worse, the fact that this is a sequel of sorts or the fact that I shelled out money to pay for it. With the extremely trite book cover, I should have guessed A) that I, as a 25 yr old woman, am not the target audience and B)that it wasn't going to be scary in the slightest.
It's one of those books that doesn't appear to have had an author at all. It's just lifeless words on paper with nothing to them. It's so unbelievably dull and boring and repetitive. And, like I said, not scary. Don't let the title or the fact that this is apparently case files from "real life" ghost hunters fool you, there is nothing scary about this book.
The characters, if I can call them that, are all the same. There is no difference between them, only that the girls are outnumbered by the boys two to one and the girls are the only ones screaming, getting scared and trying to act brave whilst feeling safe there is a boy nearby.
The writing is bleak and miserably repetitive. One character will say something, internally, and then voice that same thing, then another character will agree out loud, and then the first character will agree with their own words. Its so painful.
Character 1: We should go back now. Character 2: Yeah, I was just thinking that. We should go back. Character 1: Good, let's go back. Character 2: Yep, lead the way back! Character 1: Haha, let's get moving.
Whilst being painful, the writing is also obvious. Example, at one point a character thinks about himself "If he hurt his leg, he wouldn't be able to run". What a stunningly intricate observation! Another is the cabin revelation. The ghost hunting group stumble upon a cabin. Whilst in the head of one of the team, she thinks to herself. "Is that a cabin?" and then the group arrive at the cabin and each one says "Yes, that's a cabin. It looks like a old cabin." Makes for a group of incredibly stupid people.
In every "story" there is a conversation like this. There are also paragraphs upon paragraphs of info dumps jammed within parentheses to give the illusion that it's speech and not something copy/pasted from a website.
But like I said at the start of this, I'm not the target audience. This reminds me of a book a teacher would read her third grade class, putting on silly voices for each character and pausing for effect before making a loud clapping noise to make the kids giggle.
A team of investigators called TAPS, (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) go on a series of investigations on what people claim to be paranormal activity. This book was written by the stars of a reality TV show called "Ghost Hunters." There are several stories, all of them telling a different story of one of the cases these people have investigated full of cliffhangers and excitement. At the end of the book, the author include a part where the readers get to learn the ins and outs of ghost hunting, how to spot a hoax, and how to face their fear of the paranormal.
This book was written in a format for children, yet, it was still exciting and thrilling to hear about the personal experiences and investigations they made. The stories are short, but concise, and tell a lot about the "unknown." Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson take the reader into the book and make the goosebumps creep up people's spines.
The only things that were a bit disappointing were that the book made it sound like everything that happened in it was fake or somewhat fictional.
i liked this book for kids only because i love watching jason and grant's tv show. but overall, i only found 2 stories to be somewhat chilling. the thing that bothered me about all the stories is that the TAPS team experienced a lot of paranormal activity, exactly what was experienced by the people that made the claims who called the TAPS team in to investigate. this bothers me because on the television show, most often, they do not have the same crazy paranormal experiences of seeing drawers open and shut or doors slam in front of them, or of entities pushing them. but that seems to happen in all the stories. on the show, they hear sounds and record voices of entities but rarely do doors close while they are still in the room, and if they do they can often debunk it. anyway, the last story, the one about the st augustine lighthouse was a chilling read because i do remember that episode and i do recall the TAPS team filming the entity of a woman at the top of the light house.
I really enjoyed taking my time and reading the case studies of the popular ghost hunting team. These were older studies but written so that you could even hear their voices. They covered all types of hauntings and experiences.
Included were dreams, animal ghosts, children, a 'wayward' child, runaway ghosts, and the famous St. Augustine Lighthouse and Alcatraz haunts that we saw on television.
The book has a back section with glossary, and experimental case studies for those of us who dream of joining a 'TAPS' near us. These were fun to read also.
With Halloween coming up and the televised 'Ghost Hunters' doing their traditional all evening ghost hunt on SciFy....this is a perfect 'get in the mood' book to read.
I really enjoyed reading this despite the fact that it was geared towards children. If I were a kid and read this, I would totally be on the move and researching the paranormal.
I have to agree with Sharon's review, though. I wonder when these cases took place, it at all. The St. Augustine one does sound very close to the case they featured in the show. Who are these investigators? Were they with TAPS before the show and that is why these cases are being highlighted now?
Otherwise, if these were true, they would most certainly have been featured in the show unless the clients refused to be identified.
I enjoyed reading this book. It might not have been an action packed mystery book, but it definitely made me want to keep reading it. It was not very realistic because it is about hunting ghosts, but Jason Hawes made it feel somewhat real because of the gadgets the characters used. The characters seemed like actual people who know what they are doing, even if they are hunting ghosts. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading mystery books. The fact of hunting ghosts makes you want to keep reading the book until you finish it. The solutions to the problems might be confusing, but you will enjoy the book anyway.
Though I find the show mildly entertaining (at least I did the last time I sat down and watched it, which was a while ago) this book just didn't do it for me. It felt very much like the TAPS team was doing some self advertising without really understanding who they were writing for. The stories are less intriguing than a Goosebumps book, and are filled to overflowing with name drops and the kind of 'We only accept solid evidence' stuff that’s in the show. That's not to say there weren't some good story ideas in here, there are, they just weren't executed very well. All in all, I'd recommend just about any other horror anthology besides this one.
Ghost Hunt 2 is about how a group called T.A.P.S. received a letter from a girl saying that his uncle lives in this very old house in the woods. "We keep hearing strange noises at night". We thought it was a raccoon or a rat but nothing there. Later that night the T.A.P.S. team came to the house and found some suspicious evidence that the house was really haunted after all,and wanted to find out what are they doing hear, and why are they hurting these nice people in there home. Want to find out more about this realistic fiction book, then you should read this book, if you like ghost books.
The book is written by the stars of the reality TV show, "Ghost Hunters." The team of investigators known as TAPS, (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) go on a series of investigations from people calling or writing to them about the paranormal activity they are experiencing. Though the book seems to be written/geared more for children, it was still exciting to hear about the teams personal experiences and investigations... the end of the book also includes a section that allows the reader an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of ghost hunting.
Ghost Hunt 2 is an interesting book that I really liked. This unique book is about a team that helps people by investigating about ghosts. The writing in this book was effective and powerful at the same time. This book was good because it hooked the reader from the beginning all the way to the end. In addition, this book was detailed. The one bad thing about this book was that every story in the book was written in the same way. Overall, this book was amazing and I advise everyone to read it.
I didn't like the style of this one. It was based on true cases but fictionalized. I was hoping for real cases like the first book & some behind the scenes info on the real TAPS investigations. This one was a disappointment.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was not as exciting as the show but still fun. Its written in simple words so everyone, no matter whether young or old can enjoy it. It includes cases shown on the show but also ones that did not and the expert guide in the back is also a fun addition.
This book is about a team of real ghost hunters who investigate the paranormal and unknown. I recommend this book to anyone that likes ghost stories, or anyone that likes the television show "Ghost Hunters".
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the stories, but the title claims chilling and only one of the two stories even fall close. there was nothing really scary about them. I even thought one of the stories was cute. chilling isn't supposed to equal cute.
I know the writing in these books is pretty simplistic, but I thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless. It is definitely geared more towards kids, but I like reading about the cases. If you enjoy the show, or ghost hunting in general, I would definitely recommend this book.
