I read this because I heard it was one of the best arguments against a President whose policies I mostly support. I’ll admit that, at his best, Hewitt is a formidable arguer, laying several aspects of his case with a lawyer’s precision and restraint. In particular, he really succeeds in nailing Obama on the housing crisis, and racks up some real points on foreign policy. However, Hugh The Clear-Headed Lawyer doesn’t stick around for the whole book, and too often we’re stuck with Hugh The Zealous Tea Partier. Claiming that “no one knows” where stimulus money went when the Obama Administration has created a website that tells us, attempting to argue that the President’s frequent golf-playing is actually a window into his psyche—these are not well-structured arguments, they’re fringe-based drivel. Significant chunks of the book serve as smart, savvy rebuttals to the decisions of our (now re-elected) President. But it’s hard to take Hewitt’s whole argument seriously when so much of it consists of robotic repetitions of Fox News orthodoxies.

This book is for those not paying attention to politics who see that the United States is struggling, but hear that Obama is doing a bang up job, and wonder why reality doesn't match up with Rachael Maddows analysis. This long brief covers Mr. Hewitts views of the failures of the Obama Presidency, covering domestic, foreign and leadership failures, highlighting throughout the 25 chapters the most glaring weaknesses. I follow politics fairly close so I wouldn't say I learned a lot but I enjoyed the trip down memory lane. Great book if you would like to walk into the booth in November with some knowledge of what the President has been up to the last 3.5 years from someone other than the sycophants in congress and the lamestream media.

THE FAMOUS COMMENTATOR MAKES HIS CASE AGAINST OBAMA

Hugh Hewitt (born 1956) is an American radio talk show host and law professor at Chapman University School of Law; he has written many books, such as 'A Mormon in the White House?: 10 Things Every American Should Know about Mitt Romney,' ;In, But Not Of: A Guide to Christian Ambition and the Desire to Influence the World,' 'If It's Not Close, They Can't Cheat: Crushing the Democrats in Every Election and Why Your Life Depends on It,' 'The Embarrassed Believer: Reviving Christian Witness in an Age of Unbelief,' etc.

He states his basic case in the Introduction of this 2012 book: "(1) Obamacare was a disaster... (2) Unemployment is much too high... and (3) the 2009 'stimulus' that was supposed to fund the 'shovel ready' infrastructure ... was a huge bust. The fourth big argument is that President Obama has seriously weakened our national security by harming our friends abroad and empowering our enemies while stripping defenses. The fifth is that he has relentlessly abused the powers of the presidency in a single-minded assault on the powers of the other branches, the states' governments, and the citizens." (Pg. 5-6)

He observes, "Solyndra provides a good example... Obama and his administration repeatedly chose Solyndra as an example of his economic and green energy policies at work... But despite the president's cheery assessment, worries about Solyndra's viability continued... Solyndra filed for bankruptcy on September 6, 2012. Two days later, the FBI raided Solyndra's offices, possibly looking for evidence of accounting fraud." (Pg. 65-69)

Of the infamous Operation Fast and Furious, he notes, "The Obama administration had approved selling guns to Mexican drug cartels in the hope of tracing those guns to the big dealers of weapons and the big dealers of drugs. It... is now the subject of a massive government cover-up that has reached deep into the Department of Justice and perhaps the White House... U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered... by suspected drug-smuggling operatives with two weapons that a known straw purchaser had purchased ... as a part of Operation Fast and Furious." (Pg. 79)

Concerning foreign policy, he asserts, "the president must renounce the language of moral equivalence to Israel when talking about terrorist organizations like Hamas, which refuse to even recognize Israel's right to exist. His fantasy of reforming Hamas cripples would-be peacemakers on the Palestinian side while simultaneously casting Israel ... (as) equal partner of a bloodthirsty, nihilist terrorist organization." (Pg. 115) He charges, "President Obama's decision to abandon Iraq... was... stunning... for the United States is not a second-tier world power trimming its reach to match its resources but the only global superpower, with responsibilities to maintain global security as best as it can, with a special obligation to at least quarantine the most belligerent of sinister nations." (Pg. 127)

This comprehensive critique will be of great interest to fans of Hewitt, as well as critics of the Obama administration.

Hugh Hewitt the Author is a remarkable man. He teaches Constitutional Law, has Law Practice, is an author of several books, and is a radio Talk Show Host - Hewitt wrote this book molded after the famous "Brandeis Brief". Being a professional Lawyer, Hewitt is an excellent interviewer.

The Book Therefore covers several issues Hewitt believes President Barack Obama's were wrong and are detrimental to America. It is well researched and regardless of your outlook on Obama's Presidency is well worth reading before the November 2012 Election.
