The Brief Against Obama: The Rise, Fall & Epic Fail of the Hope & Change Presidency

Rate this book
Voters can do nothing until they have the facts---the hard, cold, true facts, and that is what Hugh Hewitt provides in THE BRIEF AGAINST The Rise, Fall & Epic Fail of the Hope & Change Presidency . Hugh makes the case that Obama's has been a disastrous presidency, a fiasco in fact, and reveals the president to be a wholly unprepared and incapable-of-learning ideologue whose nearly every move has been wrong, and whose almost every decision has been ill-conceived and poorly executed. But for the SEALs' dispatch of bin Laden and the military's removal of al-Awalki and other terrorists---whom the president still seeks to remove from Gitmo to domestic courts in the United States---Obama would be wholly without anything to claim as an achievement of his time in the Oval Office.

In addition to the monumental failures of Obamacare, the soaring unemployment rate, the 2009 "stimulus" and the massive debt, Hugh Hewitt examines the scores and scores of broken promises and fraudulent forecasts, dozens of dodges and hundreds of disastrous innovations that President Obama has inflicted on America. It has been a reign of incompetency not before seen in the country---ever. According to Hewitt, President Obama is not just a failed president, but the most spectacularly failed president of modern times, and Hewitt's precise and lawyerly indictment is made to help the American people see what has happened, and what desperately needs to be done in the upcoming election.

The path for the American people is clear and Barack Obama mustn't be allowed to run the country into the ground as the Commander-in-Chief for four more years.

I read this because I heard it was one of the best arguments against a President whose policies I mostly support. I’ll admit that, at his best, Hewitt is a formidable arguer, laying several aspects of his case with a lawyer’s precision and restraint. In particular, he really succeeds in nailing Obama on the housing crisis, and racks up some real points on foreign policy. However, Hugh The Clear-Headed Lawyer doesn’t stick around for the whole book, and too often we’re stuck with Hugh The Zealous Tea Partier. Claiming that “no one knows” where stimulus money went when the Obama Administration has created a website that tells us, attempting to argue that the President’s frequent golf-playing is actually a window into his psyche—these are not well-structured arguments, they’re fringe-based drivel. Significant chunks of the book serve as smart, savvy rebuttals to the decisions of our (now re-elected) President. But it’s hard to take Hewitt’s whole argument seriously when so much of it consists of robotic repetitions of Fox News orthodoxies.

"This country simply does not force vast changes unless at least some of the opposition party can be brought to the side of change. This tradition - unwritten but real - has worked to preserve the republic and civic space. President Obama has trashed this tradition." - Pg 20

"President Obama lied about your health care and your insurance. Why would you trust him on anything else?" - Pg 25

President Obama on his American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan or Stimulus: "Only gov't can break the vicious cycles that are crippling our economy ... this is why we need to act boldly and act now to reverse these cycles... that work begins with a plan - a plan I am confident will save or create three million jobs over the next few years." - Pg 26 Quoting Obama.

"We taxpayers have shelled out more than $940 billion for the Stimulus already, with billions more to come for the many years the borrowing remains unpaid." - Pg 27

This book is for those not paying attention to politics who see that the United States is struggling, but hear that Obama is doing a bang up job, and wonder why reality doesn't match up with Rachael Maddows analysis. This long brief covers Mr. Hewitts views of the failures of the Obama Presidency, covering domestic, foreign and leadership failures, highlighting throughout the 25 chapters the most glaring weaknesses. I follow politics fairly close so I wouldn't say I learned a lot but I enjoyed the trip down memory lane. Great book if you would like to walk into the booth in November with some knowledge of what the President has been up to the last 3.5 years from someone other than the sycophants in congress and the lamestream media.

First book on politics that I have ever read. It took me forever and a half because I really don't like politics. However, this is an interesting and insightful read.

Hugh Hewitt the Author is a remarkable man. He teaches Constitutional Law, has Law Practice, is an author of several books, and is a radio Talk Show Host - Hewitt wrote this book molded after the famous "Brandeis Brief". Being a professional Lawyer, Hewitt is an excellent interviewer.

The Book Therefore covers several issues Hewitt believes President Barack Obama's were wrong and are detrimental to America. It is well researched and regardless of your outlook on Obama's Presidency is well worth reading before the November 2012 Election.

This is a must read for every serious-minded voter who wants to make a difference in November: no one can read the mountain of facts and statistics compiled by Hugh Hewitt and, with a sound mind and clear conscience, vote for anyone but Mitt Romney in November!

I encourage everyone to read this book, memorize the arguments, and inform all open-minded voters you know. Then buy books for others and exhort them to do like-wise!

Hugh Hewitt rests his case in this excellent collection of arguments and supporting references against the fitness of President Obama for a second term in the White House.

This review should be easy, it's 2015 and Obama's still my president. The end.
