Positive views on money, success and abundance are a great help if you're struggling with how to reconcile the compromise to live within the societal structure. And how perhaps, to not make it a compromise at all.
I can definitely apply a lot of the principles of this book into my life. Lots of practical wisdom for simplifying and rejecting societal norms. It was a bit arduous - it took me FOREVER to read, but mostly because I stopped to think about each passage as I read. Highly recommended to anyone seeking to understand Tao principles related to living a truly abundant life.
A book about everything. One of the simplest books with all the life lessons one could need. A must read for those who are introspective, invested in growth, both personal and material and are thirsty for self knowledge.
The book seems daunting and copious even unwieldy because of its size, but as you read, the pages just roll off so smoothly and simply, dripping with answers and solutions for all of life's questions, that one never thought of.
A good book. Not what I expected. The only reason I gave it only 4 stars is because it seemed a bit drudgerous at times. Otherwise, I would have given it a solid 5 stars.
This book addresses the ways in which the values of contemporary Western society promote the mentality of scarcity and block people's ability to receive the natural abundance of living as espoused by the philosophies of Taoism.
While the author offers many practical ways, with which to shift one's perspective toward abundance, he spends so much time explaining the problems with culture that have made this necessary, that the book becomes largely a downer.
This book certainly presents an abundance... of academic text. Devotes lots of ink to expositing and bemoaning the anthropological origins of capitalism. I was hoping for a book whose tone more closely mirrored the holistic, practice-oriented mindset of the tao, rather than the analytical, abstract-theoretical approach of the Western philosophies that the author disfavors.
