Erstaunlich erfrischend und spannend. Es hat kurz gedauert, richtig reinzukommen, aber es liest sich gut und bei dem Namen Gaylord kann man auch nicht so viel falsch machen ;). Auf jeden Fall als Lektüre, die sich lohnt zu lesen, wenn man nicht zu viel erwartet und über das Alter des Buches (inklusive gesellschaftlichen Mülls) hinwegsehen kann. Oh, und mit dem Ende wird literarisch sehr gut der Bogen gespannt. Top.

The Pentecosts are an incredibly charming family and seven year old Gaylord is like a gentler, more realistic version of Just William who made me laugh out loud at times. Eric Malpass obviously had a real love for the countryside, you get such a sense of it in this book-- rivers, seas, fields all provide balm for the soul and a respite from lifes troubles and the power of the full moon is a central theme. I just had one niggling problem with this book. It was written in the early sixties and one part of the story involves the lovely, married writer Jocelyn's flirtation with his 15 year old niece. Although its describe as relatively harmless, we now know that such dalliances are never really harmless and its astonishing that this could be treated so lightly.

Das Buch endet wie das erste, Gaylord befindet sich in massiver Lebensgefahr. Also ich als Mutter wäre mit meinen Kindern längst woanders hingezogen, aber nunja. Ansonsten wie auch das erste Buch eine reizende Geschichte, mit flüssigem Schreibstil angenehem zu lesen.

Le charme a moins opéré que pour "le matin est servi". Mais c'est quand même très agréable à lire. J'aurais évidemment préféré le lire en anglais.

Der zweite Teil über den kleinen gaylord und seine Familie. Für alle Liebhaber von englischer Landschaft, britischem Humor und amüsanten Geschichten ein Muss!

Seguito di Alle sette del mattino il mondo è ancora in ordine.
Anche A luna piena l'ho letto (più volte) alle medie, ma di questo già mi ricordo qualcosina in più rispetto all'altro.
Ricordo una narrazione maggiormente coesa e meno episodica, e una trama vagamente gialla-thriller, coi consueti colpi di scena è-lui-il-colpevole-no-non-è-lui.
Ricordo che m'inquietava molto.
Ricordo la luna piena (ovviamente) e coltelli insanguinati.
Ricordo molto bene la figura del cugino (era un cugino?) pallido e taciturno, e il momento inquietante in cui il protagonista lo osserva, non visto, mentre seppelliva un gabbiano morto (era un gabbiano?) nella sabbia sulla spiaggia... o qualcosa del genere.
E poi, le solite considerazioni: chissà se lo rileggessi oggi e blablabla.

La suite de la vie de Gaylord, bien connu de "Matin est servi", et aussi drôle, sympathique et tendre. Son papa toujours dans les nuages et ses romans, sa maman toujours aussi perspicace, et puis c'est l'été... et les monstres sortent pendant la pleine lune!
