Breaking Pride

Rate this book
So many of us desire freedom – the freedom that is promised to us when we decide to follow Jesus. The freedom from the burden of our sin, the need to be “good enough”, anger, jealousy, and envy.

Even though we are believers we would be ashamed to say that we don’t always experience peace, contentment, and joy in our life. We are looking for the grace that God has so graciously given to us to be real in our life…

Breaking Pride is an eBook based on one simple truth:

In order to walk in God’s grace we need to tear down the the walls of pride.

A lot of believers, even though saved by God’s grace, are still walking in pride rather than walking in His grace. Knowing what pride is and learning to identify pride in your life is the first step to overcoming a life filled with pride.

Pride is rooted in fear and leads to anger, jealousy, and envy.

Sin isn’t keeping us from having a relationship with the Lord, it’s our pride.

So many of us long to have an authentic and REAL relationship with the Lord, and we long to have the fruit of the spirit filled in our heart. Our desire is to achieve these fruits through will power. But we do not even realize that the pride that lives within our heart is what is blocking the fruit of the spirit from living within us.

In Breaking Pride you will learn to identify different areas of pride in your life. Filled with encouragement, Breaking Pride will take you through a practical reading of what pride may look like in your life…

Let’s stop building walls of pride and start building the foundation of grace within our lives…

Hello, My name is Heather! I am a mom of three, married to a firefighter, and I am a writer. In 2005 I ventured into the online world to simply start an online community for moms. Little did I know the adventure God had in store for me. It has been a roller coaster with many ups and downs, but each step has led me to where I am today. I pray this is a place where you will find encouragement and maybe even a laugh or two. My heart is to share God’s word with you in a loving and practical way.

Truly Truly loved this book. Not a wasted word, all encouragement in the area of pride. Our pride goes deeper than we can know, however, it starts with our brokenness. It does'nt start with our sin, we stay in sin because of pride and we sin because of pride. Our pride keeps us in bondage and keeps us from deep relationships. This is a short book and I think I got a great deal on kindle so I encourage you to look it up. Very interested now in reading more from Heather. An insight that is worth reflection is that our pride in many times is a way that we protect ourselves. But by doing that we hide the truth, we put up walls and by putting up walls, put ourselves in a prison. Quotes that I liked....Love comes through resisting hate, joy comes through resisting fear, peace comes through resisting wrate, patience comes through resisting control, kindness comes through resisting rudeness...

She ends by how do we break our pride..through truth of who God is, prayer and grace.

Pride is one of my greatest enemies as a Christian. It pops up its ugly head in so many areas of my life. And so this short ebook was a great reminder for me. I have experienced the walls of pride that keep others out and isolate me from true relationships. It takes an empowering of the Holy Spirit to remove that wall of pride and replace it with humility...and for me it's a daily process. In different seasons of my life I have used Beth Moore's book, "Praying God's Word" to pray through the scriptures on pride and have also found that helpful. Thanks for these reminders Heather!

A powerful book. Anyone who struggles with pride will find help in this book to free yourself from this struggle. This is a book that doesn't condemn, but helps you identify what is preventing a closer walk with God. I found this to be helpful as I learn to give up control and walk in the Grace of God's love.

This book really helped me to identify pride and its symptoms manifesting in my life. Now that I know that it is my pride that is keeping me from enjoying joy in the Lord. I will close the door on pride and continue to walk in the grace of the Lord

With scripture, Heather Bixler clearly addresses the causes of pride:
the desires to protect, to defend, to be in control

Nothing profound, but needed reminders.

A quick and easy read with no wasted words, no coddling, just telling you like it is. I'm sure we all deal with pride at some point in our lives, even if we don't call it that. There is a lot of great nuggets in this book as well as some points that are hard to hear because they can hit a little too close to home, but, she is not afraid to have the tough conversation.

Great read!

This was a great read and didn't take long to get through it. It gave me a lot to think about and I have a lot to work on! The only negative is that there were several typos throughout the book. The content was very helpful though.

It loses a star only because most of the advice is what to do, not how to do it. The last chapter was a how to, though.

More like 3.5. Not a super deep book, but it did spark some great conversations in our small group.

Truth

I would have given this book four and a half stars, if I could, because the content is excellent. The topic is not one that is often addressed and the author addresses it brilliantly. She is spot on. I believe God has revealed these truths to her. What is missing is most of the personal story showing how God brought her to this very difficult to acknowledge place in her life. Maybe in a revised version sometime? Still, this is an important book. I plan to read it again.

Originally I gave this title 3 stars. I am revising my stars to zero.

The reason I am doing so is that since reading this title, several things about my faith journey and expression have changed and I no longer subscribe to evangelical ideologies.

This is a good book. It was a short book and it got me thinking about the goodness and grace of God. Led to some deep conversations with God about my own pride and lack of humility.

This book wasn't long, but it was great. Bixler went into the deeper reason for pride and practical ways to deal with it. it isn't an exhaustive book on the subject, but it is helpful and very good.

Great book

Gets right to the point. Uses scripture to back up key points. Is written simply, for simple people, the ones God calls home.
