Wolf Springs was just going to be a short stop for Katelyn McBride--until she turned 18 and could return to LA on her own. But Katelyn's plans have unraveled.

Katelyn wasn't in Wolf Springs a month when she was attacked by a werewolf. And now she carries that creature's curse in her veins.

But she's not alone. Wolf Springs is home to werewolves. And they swear that it wasn't any of them who bit her. Changing humans without permission means the death penalty, and they're none too happy about Katelyn.

The only explanation is that there's a monster on the loose--something wild and uncontrollable. Because Katelyn has some of its power.

And two guys want Katelyn: one dark and mysterious, yet perhaps the perfect confidant; the other ferocious and forbidden--a werewolf that she can't keep her hands off of.

I have a bad feeling about that ending... I mean, there's a murderer out there, and she leaves the safety of the pack... c'mon girl, you could've pretended to like the pack!

This didn't feel like another BOOK to me.... it just felt like an 'in-between' chapter... nothing interesting goes on.

Everyone always say the forbidden love always wins against the fated love... and I abso-fucking-lutley adore Justin, but for some reason I'm thinking she ends up with Trick. Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with that guy, but I think she has more spark with Justin, a helluva lot more spark!
and his motorbike... *sigh* there is nothing sexier than a guy with a motorbike... nothing! (I am not shallow! I swear ;])

Who do you run from?

Katelyn McBride fears have come true p, during the last full moon she turned into a werewolf and her friend Cordelia was banished from her pack for keeping Kat's secret.

Cordelia doesn't have long until she has to swear loyalty to another pack making her a traitor to her own family her only chance of returning home is if Kat finds the Silver Mine and quickly.

Kat still struggles with her love triangle. Her heart wants Trick but the wolf within is hot for Justin. (I'm still team Trick. I just don't like Justin there's something off about him to me. For one he has a girlfriend and two he's very domineering and icky) so go Tick I'm rooting for you!

Hot Blooded also delves more into the McBride family. Mordecai's past and the murder of Sean McBride.

I liked the characters even less in this book than I did in the last one (other than her grandfather- he's pretty awesome). I am reading the series for the thrill, though, not the characterization, so that's alright.

What I see in a lot of the other reviews has really surprised me. Many reviewers say Trick is 'mysterious' and 'hiding something'. Um, yeah. His name is VLADIMIR. Has no one else considered that he might be a vampire?! Or in the very least not human. He is extremely wealthy, his parents are never around (I feel like I've heard this one before)... Yeah, so he's kind of young for a vampire. But this wouldn't be the first young vampire in YA literature. Maybe vampires are 'born' like humans in this series. He also spazzes out every once in a while- like that time at the dance- and there is still no explanation. Typical supernatural behavior. His godfather Oh and the werewolves really dislike him with no explanation (so far), and have hesitated before calling him human or a boy.

I think the least of our worries is good ol' Vladimir getting bitten.

***This is book 2 in the series, major spoilers for book one are likely***

I liked book 1 (Unleashed) it wasn’t a page turner were book like Raised by Wolves but it was an easy enough read. Holder and Viguie had gone back to a classic type were story, and it was fun.

I was looking forward to book 2, there was plenty of story to build on and to take the next level, but I was disappointed. Which I hate.

Hot Blooded follows Katelyn’s transition into werewolf, and into the Fenner pack. Cordelia has been shunned, and its all Kat’s fault. Add to that Lee Fenner’s mental deterioration, her immunity to silver (which only Justin knows about) and her attraction to both Justin and Trick and she’s in a heap of trouble. Kat believes the only way to get Cordelia back is to find the mine (and the hellhound she insists exists), but she has to do so whilst keeping her identity a secret from her grandfather, Trick and the town. Additionally the Fenner’s insist she is trained, and brought into the were world, where things work very differently. Secrets are uncovered, loyalty tested and time is running out.....

It all sounds great, but its not. Kat is meant to be finding the mine to save Cordelia but she does bugger all about finding it. She occasionally looks in a book, or has a sniff around but thats it. More time is spent on Kat, the term ‘me, myself and I’ suits her, she's unlikeable, selfish and brattish. Trick or Justin. Justin or Trick. and round again. What happened to the strong, feisty Katelyn from book 1?

Then there’s the wolf pack. The whole issue about dominance which instantly puts my back up. We know I love wolves, and I study them a lot, and its apparent that neither author bothered to research their pack structure, dominance relations or communication methods, the Fenner’s are nothing like a wolf pack. I could go on and on about it, but all the book has done is anger me, Holder and Viguie have just reinforced the stereotype that wolves are driven by aggression and dominance, and violence (lets not talk about the pack murder in this book, it makes me seethe). The writers attitudes towards animals are obvious from the line about the gator’s eyes showing no intelligence, just intent (or something along that line), what a presumption to make, and once again reinforcing a stereotype of an animal that really could do without the bad press.

The book took me an awful long time to get through. It wasn’t entertaining, it was slow to build up, and nothing really happened, there was a bit of a ending/climax but it was something I’d of expected in the middle of a book. I am seriously disappointed, Holder in particular was always a favorite of mine, and this time she’s let me down. I gave the book 3 stars, but writing this review I’m going for 2. I cannot think of anything good to say about it. Book 3 is off my list I’m afraid.

I liked it and can't wait to see what is to come, but I wish Kat would have stuck up for herself more. Hopeful she will not die by the hellhound (sorry spoiler), but I think she needed to use her secret weapon better than she did. I do love not really knowing where this story will go next that is what made this a wonderful 2nd book. Thanks for the series, keep it up!

So, so, so GOOD!!!

I didn't want to stop reading, and yet I didn't want to reach the end.

Kat, now a werewolf, has become a more solid character. She fears for the lives of herself and her grandfather if she doesn't do as the alpha says. Unfortunately, this is made extra difficult by the fact that the alpha is suffering from dementia and a lot of his decisions are crazy.

Cordelia has been banished from her pack for keeping Kat a secret from her dad, the alpha. Now Kat can't have any contact with her, can't even speak her name for fear of her life, and she's alone to deal with this pack, most of whom would have preferred the alpha to just have killed her. Cordelia goes to the alpha of a rival pack whose alpha, Dom, is in love with her and marry's him, causing the Fenner alpha to declare war on them.

I felt I got to know Trick and Justin a lot more in this sequel, and while I now love them both, I can't decide on my favourite. I think we know any mystery there was surrounding Justin but Trick is still a conundrum. I feel there's more to him than we're seeing. The same with Kat's grandfather, he seems to have a lot of secrets too. Especially with the revelation about Kat's dad's death.

The war between the packs happens at the end of the book, and is just chaos. People have died, and maybe even more than I know about when they eventually regroup. And to add to all the questions that I'll have going into the next book, this ends on a massive cliffhanger. I can't wait to get my hands on the third book. And I feel this is one that's going to be hard for another book to follow.

Awesome!!!

I thought that in this book the love triangle would be resolved, well 'love' isn't the right term...more who will Kat stay be with.
I keep wanting to like Justin, but the whole wolf and Lucy aspects kept getting in the way.
But I still don't like Trick, there's something off and fishy about him? I keep getting odd vibes from his character.
In the end off the book I really thought Kat would just end up and obey Justin or become his mate/girlfriend, but instead she just ran. That's were the cliff hanger left us...

Kat also said that she loved Trick and was planning on running to him, which I find really annoying. This is because Trick can't know that Kat is a werewolf, Kat nearly at one one point in the novel bit Tick. If her saliva got into his bloodstream he would change into a werewolf. Which is bad because Kat would off had no permission from the pack leader and she may be banished from the group altogether or even killed.

So her running from Justin, who she was attracted too, and going to Trick has completely changed and possibly ruined her life? Because I was lead to believe a werewolf survives better in a pack and won't go rouge?

I felt really sympathetic towards Cordelia, but I think she will be maybe excepted back into the pack in the next book or rewarded with forgiveness because Justin is now pack leader, and he wanted to keep Cordelia alive and safe.

Oh my, so much happening all at once, especially coming towards the end of this book. I am literally craving the next one. So much is explained, yet I have so many questions still.
In the first books, werewolves are hinted at but not particularly mentioned until closer to the end, in this book it is full of werewolves and more mysteries to unfold, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I had been waiting a whole year for this book after reading Unleashed last Christmas. It ended on a huge cliffhanger so I couldn’t wait to find out what was next for Katelyn.

The story began with Katelyn having a nightmare (her nightmares were a recurring theme throughout the book) and this confused me a little as I couldn’t figure out the meaning of it. Then came some brief reminders of what had happened previously, it was at this point that everything came rushing back to me and I was swiftly transported back to Wolf Springs.

Katelyn was adjusting to her new life as a werewolf and all the changes that went with it, she was confused by her feelings for Trick and Justin and I have to admit that I really loved this side of the story. It was a classic love triangle – Katelyn and Trick seemed natural around each other and he had the whole cheeky boy-next-door thing going on, but Katelyn and Justin were electric together and the sparks between them practically jumped out of the page at me. This was very exciting to read and I found myself switching opinions on who she should choose throughout the entire book!

Another thing I really liked was that I could never predict what was coming next – it kept me on my toes throughout and I felt like I was constantly searching for clues to find answers to the many questions I had in my mind. The darkness and danger from the first book continued into this one with the murder count rising and no-one actually knowing who, or what, was responsible.

There was much more about the history of the werewolves in this story and I found this particularly interesting as I attempted to fit the mysterious pieces of the puzzle together.

The storyline was intense and exciting, the intensity built throughout until it reached the final showdown and this resulted in yet another cliffhanger ending. I just didn’t want it to end and I’m so sad that I have to wait until next year to find out what happens.

This was a fantastic book which I ended up reading in just one day because it was utterly unputdownable and addictive.

Kat now a werewolf has to learn the ways of her pack, but it's pretty hard when she feels no loyalty to The Fenners, she definitely has no love for Cordelia's awful sisters Regan or Arial or their Alpha Pack father Lee Fenner who turned his back on his own daughter, Cordelia. On top of all the constant rules and training that are put upon her she has to constantly watch her back and make sure The Fenner pack don't take out her (basically a mistake) and her Grandfather because he could learn the truth. The only person who seems to be on her side is Justin, but can she truly trust him? She has to constantly fight off her attraction to him, because he is already spoken for, but Justin seems to be the one going after Kat. On top of all her double life as a werewolf she has another person to protect Trick, who she seems to really want to be with, but can't because of her secret life. And she still has not found the werewolf who attacked her or learned anymore of The Legendary Hellhound. And all around her bodies keep building up. Can Kat escape Wolf Springs or is her destiny now with The Fenners.

I enjoyed this book even more than the first. There was never a dull moment. There were some interesting secrets revealed, but still a lot more to learn. The only complaint I had was with Kat's flip flopping between wanting to be with Trick than not, then maybe Justin. I'm all for a love triangle I think it makes things more interesting, but it got a little too much. I'm still hoping Kat will end up with Justin. But the end of the book leaves everything up in the air and I am so looking forward to it! Werewolf Genres now officially have a place in my heart!

I was really disappointed with this book sadly to say :-(
I read Unleashed a couple of years ago, and I decided to pick up the series again, the first book was good but this book just went nowhere for me.
One big problem I had with this book, was that I could not remember anything from the first book, I was left to try to remember the characters again as it made little/no reference to past events, it took me quite a while to get back into the gist of things.
I didn't really care for Katelyn or any of the characters in this book, I got really fed up about hearing kat's gymnastic dreams and talents :-/
The relationship between Kat and Justin, and Kat and Trick, went absolutely nowhere, there was no actual bond. We learn absolutely nothing about Trick and Justin's personal lives, it's almost like they're their for convenience, they just pop up randomly throughout the story, their is no passion.
It was so annoying, the plot just went nowhere, Cordelia also just popped up randomly yapping about finding that mine.
I would not recommend this book, the first book was dead on, but was severely let down in this one. It wasn't helped by the Cowboy language, I just find it so cheesy, along with the cowboys boots :-/

Wow, Hot Blooded sees Kat trying to deal with being a werewolf and the Fenners. We dont see too much of Trick which is a down side but the book has so much suspense and mystery that I loved it. The ending though was killer!!!!

Still can't get the image of a naked Lee Fenner out of my mind- my fault, not the author's. What is Trick? What is the hellhound? What does grandpa know? This author leaves the reader in pain and suffering at the end of a book, asking lots of questions...

After finishing Unleashed I was left with a ton of questions. I was hoping Hot Blooded would answer some of these questions. While it did manage to answer a few of them, I was left with even more questions than when I started!

Holder & Viguie are like the wonder twins of young adult fantasy! The worlds that they create are vivid and they somehow manage to get me invested in their characters! I absolutely love Katelyn! In this installment she is learning more about herself and the world that she has been thrown into. She is a super strong individual and despite having Trick’s perfect muscular shoulder to lean on, she handles everything going on herself. After all, she can’t jeopardize anyone’s safety, despite the fact that I’m pretty sure that Trick and her grandpa could handle themselves just fine...

Speaking of Trick and her grandpa, something isn’t quite right with either one of them. I think they are keeping some secrets and I can’t wait to hear about them in the next book! However, I do have another major question that I desperately need answered, what is the connection between Kat and Justin? I know it can’t be just because of the wolf hormones, since they’ve felt it from the moment they met. Hmmmm......I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.

This is the second volume of the ‘Wolf Springs Chronicles’, following straight on from where ‘Unleased’ finished.
Well, it does and it doesn’t for in this book, school and all its challenges and complications takes mostly a back seat. This volume belongs to the Fenners and the clan rules. Kat, reluctantly, joins them because quite simply she is not given the choice of refusing.
When certain qualities that she possess come to light, when she turns out to be a potential secret weapon, she is kept closer still. Cordelia plays less of a part in this, as does Trick, while much more attention is paid to Justin and his father Lee. Malachai, it seems knows more than he is letting on, although his relationship is strengthening with his granddaughter.
Whereas the first volume was packed full with backstories this volume is much less so, devoting more time to the happenings of the present, while still pursuing mysteries touched on in ‘Unleashed’.
I definitely preferred this one. The main characters have been identified, and there are a good few surprises there. Again it ends on a cliff-hanger; this is very much a trilogy read as attempting to read just one volume will leave way too many questions hanging.

I loved this sequel to unleashed. Katelyn was only in wolf springs for a little while when she was bitten by a wolf and she started changing into a werewolf. This is st after her first full moon transformation and her friend Cordelia is banished from the pack on punishment from hiding Katelyns turning from the rest of the pack. Lately struggles to learn the way of being a part of a werewolf pack while keeping it a secret from her grandfather and Trick. She struggles with her wolf urges in particular her feelings between Trick and Justin. Terrified she will accidentally hurt or turn Trick and her forbidden feelings for fellow werewolf Justin who's with someone else. Together they hold a secret of Katelyn's immunity to silver. The town is rocked by more killings leaving Katelyn and the rest of the pack wondering who's gone rouge and started killing humans. This book is full of mystery and suspense with a little romance in it. Katelyn struggles with her dreams of being hunted by the hellhound but the pack don't believe in the hellhound to them it's a myth to keep wolves in line but Katelyn isn't so sure it's a myth she has a strong feeling that the hellhound is real and closer than she thinks. This book is a thrilling read a definite must read.

Ok, I love this book and I love Kat, despite being thrust into a new reality and having her friend Cordelia outcast by the alpha (Cordelia's father), Kat tries to embrace it all. And also deal with being immune to silver and dealing with boy drama on top of werewolf drama. She faces the possibility of marriage to a stranger then the alpha kills him and then she has to deal with a war now about to break loose between the Fenner pack and the Gaudin pack and worry about the Hellhound. And on top of that deal with the mysteries surrounding her father's murder and what might be the truth and the possibility of a silver horde in a cave that both packs want to get their hands on and then the war really starting and packmates dying. This book has so much packed into it and I love it and I love how the characters are developing and changing as the story goes on and I can't wait to read the last book.

I loved the continuity of this book. It's the second one in the series and it's obvious by the way the author writes it. I basically read this book in the span of a few hours because I didn't want to put it down. I'm looking forward to seeing how things end in the next book as it should be the last one of the series. I like the interactions between the characters and I can't wait to see how they will continue.

Pokračování fantasy série o vlkodlacích a nováčkovi ve smečce - Katelyn.
Příběh více méně pokračuje tam, kde předchozí kniha skončila a pouze získáváte další informace a zažíváte nové životní situace hlavní hrdinky ve smečce, kterým moc nerozumí a přijdou jí divné.

I really hope that the series will get better. I think the only thing that encourages me to finish the series, was I want to see where author is going with the plot. I like the ideal of the mystery and it is easy to read, but it just hasn’t pull together like it should.
