Growing up in the cold, wet, north of England, Nina Croft spent a lot of time dreaming of faraway sunnier places and ponies. When she discovered both, along with a whole load of other things, could be found between the covers of a book, her life changed forever.

Later, she headed south, picked up the perfect husband along the way, and together they volunteered to work in Africa. There they discovered a love of exotic places and a dislike of 9-5 work. Afterward they spent a number of years travelling (whenever possible) intermingled with working (whenever necessary.) Eventually they stumbled upon a remote area in the mountains of southern Spain and the small almond farm they now call home.

Nina spends her days reading, writing and riding her mare, Gencianna, under the blue Spanish skies—sunshine and ponies. She reckons this is proof that dreams really can come true if you want them enough.

Nina's writing mixes romance with elements of the paranormal and science fiction

I do love Handle with Care from Miss Croft. So when her other book, Blackmailed by Italian Billionaire shows up on my audio book list, I have high expectation on this book. But unfortunately, I do not like Blackmailed by Italian Billionaire. The story reminds me of Pretty Woman. Richard Gere keep flashing on my imagination although I know Richard Gere is not Italian.

What does not works for me:
1. The story. The promising story of crime underworld does not highlighted on this book. Instead the story is more focus on the steamy romance between Luc and Olivia.
2. The character, especially Olivia is also disappointing. She is stupid and needy heroine. She is so naive and weak. I do like damsel in distress but Olivia is just annoying.
3. The twist and plot is so weak and almost non existence. Its so boring actually.

Again I am disappointed with this book.

4 - "It seemed like a good idea at the time." Stars!

Nina Croft has certainly developed her own inimitable style when it comes to writing contempory romance, and for me Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire pretty much exemplifies what I am looking for from her with this kind of story.

~Sex.
~Alpha male.
~Chemistry.
~Sassy, but slightly naïve female.
~More sex.
~A decently developed story-line, with minimal erroneous drama.

All of the above attributes were achieved and offered up a quick, enjoyable and easy to get along-with reading experience.

All these years she had thought herself immune to men. Why did he have to be the one to prove her wrong.

Lia was likeable, and Luc was lickable, perfect combination for this reader!

ARC generously provided via Netgalley, and it was a pleasure to provide the above honest review.

She spun around. He was leaning on the wooden fence, dressed in a dark grey suit, white shirt and red tie, incongruous in these surroundings. as though he had just stepped out of an office. For a moment, she wondered if she had conjured him up. His face was expressionless, his eyes hidden behind dark glasses, but she could sense him watching her. -
Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire

Luc Severino seeks retribution than is 10 years overdue and he won't be satisfied until Jimmy Brent pays in full for what he did to him. Olivia Brent lives on her Country estate that she is now in risk of losing; her only chance to save it is by locating her father Jimmy Brent. He left her and her mother 10 years ago with money from the estate and never looked back. The problem is if Olivia wants to find her father she must now enter into the world he was in. A world of Criminals.

When Olivia gets in touch with Harley an old contact of her fathers she thinks she has found a way in. However Jimmy Brent has more enemies than friends and Harley is not a friend. Luc Severino is visiting his friend Harley and asking for clues to the whereabouts of Jimmy Brent when he strikes gold with Olivia. Under false pretense he leads Olivia to belive that he was an associate of her fathers. Luc does not trust Olivia but he believes she can lead him to Jimmy. Olivia is a beauty and Luc thinks he can charm and seduce information from her.

Both Olivia and Luc believe they are using eachother for information. But the need for Jimmy's location falls to the waste side when the two go back to Luc's offices and have mind blowing sex. Regardless Olivia gives up scared of the connection she felt after having sex with Luc. And Luc pushes forward with his plan no matter the feelings he felt. He goes to Olivia and Blackmails her. Now Olivia has no choice she must help Luc sniff out her father or else.

Thoughts
I enjoyed this story it was a quick read. The writing style was pretty good and the plot pulls you in at intervals, mainly when Luc's pov was given.
The two main Characters
- Luc was a sexy arrogant asshole and he continued to push Olivia and lie to her in order to get his way. He was very controlling and very possessive. I enjoy reading about controlling possessive men but the lies to get his way was not cool.
- Olivia was a sweetheart yet very naive at times i think she remained that way to the end. Imo of course.

My Ratings
Characters- Likable
Writing Style- Good
Plot/Storyline- Good
Steam Factor- Very Steamy
Overall- I liked it!

UPDATE!!!

My Rating: 4.5 of 5 Stars!!! :D

***I would first like to thank Nina Croft for providing me with a copy of her book and for giving me an opportunity to read and review it! You Rock, Ms. Croft! :D***

I simply adored Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire! It was a very cute contemporary read and I enjoyed every word of it! It was fast-paced and a quick read but despite that, the story-line didn’t feel like it was rushed. Everything flowed very nicely and you can’t help but get sucked in! :D It had a great plot, irresistible characters, humor and steamy, sexy and heart melting romance! It’s no wonder I stayed up all night just to finish it! Amazing job Ms. Croft, in creating such a wonderful and sensual story!

When opportunity comes knocking, you take it and exact your revenge. Luc has been wanting to get revenge on Jimmy Brent, the man who ruined his and his family’s life, for 10 years but he’s hit dead ends trying to find him. Just as Luc abandons his obsession for revenge and starts to move on, enters Olivia Brent. She is the last person Luc expected to see, but she’s here, in the flesh, and she’s given Luc the perfect leverage to exact his revenge once again - her. But what Luc doesn’t know, is that Olivia has her own reasons for showing up at a strip club looking for a job. Olivia - Lia Brent is searching for her father, to get back the money he took when he left her family, so she can save the only home she and her little brother have. When things don’t go as planned Lia becomes desperate and accepts help from the totally gorgeous billionaire, Luc Severino. Little does she know, that Luc’s only agenda is to blackmail her into compliance. Thrown into a world of criminals, secrets, betrayal and forbidden love, Olivia and Luc both need to learn what’s more important: each other or revenge - before it’s too late.

The plot was amazing! It got me hooked and I just couldn’t stop reading! It was that good. There was some suspense and the mystery with Lia’s dad’s past was a nice touch. My only concern would be, not getting enough about Luc’s past with Jimmy Brent. It would have been nice to know more about him! But other than that, it was brilliant! :)

The main characters in this book were very enjoyable and had me completely hypnotized! Olivia was a treat and I loved her shy, naive personality. It was very adorable and sweet. Now don’t get me wrong, this chick also has some fire in her! ;p Whatever B.S. Luc gave her, she dished it right back...if not more. She was feisty and I enjoyed that side of her. It gave readers a break from the wanton and stupid heroines that are sometimes found in contemporary romance books. I liked that Lia’s character had depth and character development, throughout the story! :D It was refreshing. Then we have Luc. He is sexy as sin, arrogant, charming, and a total alpha male! Did I mention, he was possessive!? *fanning self* Yeah...he was total eye candy and I loved him! The only thing I didn’t like about Luc was his constant lying to Lia...even after their feelings are out in the open. He just wanted his revenge and when it came down to it, he still used Olivia. I mean, come on dude, she’s giving you her heart and all you’re doing is stepping on it! D: Not cool.

But, I am glad Ms. Croft redeemed Luc’s “ugly” trait by not only creating believable characters but also with their relationship. The attraction, the tension, the sizzling chemistry was just brilliant. I was glued to the pages, just praying for their HEA! Not to mention, the love scenes were beautiful, hot, panty melting but totally sweet and romantic! I loved Luc and Lia’s growing relationship! :)

Overall, this book kept me engaged from beginning to end! It was a spicy and romantic read that I would recommend to all romantics out there! You don’t want to miss this one! It was very enjoyable and a fast read - a great way to pass the time. Incredible characters, humor and scorching romance, this was definitely one hot book! I look forward to reading more by Nina Croft in the future! :D

Review:

"Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire" by Nina Croft was a very good spicy romance novel. This novel was was definitely one that was hard to put down until I was finished with it...very addicting read. I felt this was a well written novel.

The authors characters were really interesting as well as believable .... Luc (hero)was something to behold...sexy, hot, sweet... lovable eyes with a scar on his face.. and still beautiful all rolled up in one... however, their were dark secrets.. a grudge that he had been holding on to for over ten years...he had a strange friend who owned a strip-club...and then their was the heroine... Olivia who was very naive in many ways.... but lovable...was looking for her father...Jimmy Brent...(Was this the same person that Luc was holding a grudge for?)... moving on...who didn't treat her or her mom very well and left them not knowing he had a son.... Now Olivia(Lia) is wanting to find her father ...she is about to lose everything she has...and she goes to a former friend of her mom's....who owned a strip-club... And this is how it all is coming together... Were both of these two people looking for the same person and equally hated him?? Now how this all comes together you will just have to pick up this read.... and you will find out just how this 'blackmail' occurred in "Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire."

"Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire" was located from the countryside of London, England. The plot thickens in the wonderful story of love and romance....adding in some mystery with Mr. Brents' past. It was simply wonderful how the author wrote the loves scenes that were very passionate, romantic and yes Hot!

If you are a romantic and love hot spicy romance and even so laughter... then this novel "Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire" is a good read. This is definitely a Adult Read.

Ceritanya standar ala Harlequin biasa. Luka masa lalu. Keinginan balas dendam.

“Why the hell would I trust you?” she snarled. “What have you ever done to gain my trust? You slept with me, then you blackmailed me into staying here. You want me to help you find my father, but you won’t tell me why. I find out you've been in prison, but you refuse to talk about it. You…” she paused then forced herself to go on, “…you make me want you, and then you walk away as if I don’t matter at all.”

Romansa mereka berdua menurutku juga gak diburu-buru. Plotnya enak buat diikutin.

Didn't like it. I was just mostly skimming when I read this. And mostly saying this to the annoying heroine..
description
description
description

She get easily distracted. Like she was "supposedly" mad at the guy, but then, he'll say something, or she'll be consumed with lust towards him or whatever and forgets she's bloody mad at him and they'll start making out.
Blech.

description

That's what I HATE the most. Clear the air first; talk to each other, then, maybe you could bang after that, I don't care, just don't start making out when you both still have unresolved issues with each other. It is NOT arousing, it's INFURIATING.
description
description
description

And the emotions! I WANT MORE!
I didn't laugh whilst reading this, smile or even cried and that just mean that the author isn't so effective. Hate to say it...but that's how I felt it.

I received an ARC through NetGalley.

Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire was also sadly disappointing. I did like it at first, because it opens with Lia going to a strip club to ask for a job! But really she's looking for her father, and the owner of the club is someone she remembers who knew him. Well, someone else is also there looking for Lia's father. While Lia is hoping to track him down and get the money he stole from her family, Luc wants revenge! And Luc sees a very good opportunity to finally get it by using Lia as bait.

Of course, I don't think blackmail is okay is any circumstances, but I was expecting Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire to be kind of light on the blackmail. Maybe even that it's nothing too serious and the title is just dramatic for attention. Nope. Luc threatens to post naked photos of Lia on the internet and send them out to papers if she doesn't help him. That is not okay! Obviously, he's never going to do that because this is a Romance novel and the hero isn't suppose to do something unforgivable. But he does have the pictures, which were taken without her knowledge! I could not forgive this at all! It's despicable! And unnecessary! He just does it because he thinks she's a lying, "treacherous" bitch, not actually a daughter looking for her missing father. What a jerk.

Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire could have been a fun read about family secrets and sexy criminals, but I really could not get passed the hero threatening the woman he's suppose to be falling in love with with nude pics. That is a very big no-no.

On the verge of losing her home, Lia is in dire need of finding her missing father who took off a decade before. The only way she can think of starting her search is going to London and talking to old acquaintances of his. This will lead her to Luc’s door, who, unbeknownst to her, has wanted revenge on her father for a very long time.

Luc sees Lia as the key to finding that bastard and finally getting even. When Lia doesn’t turn out to be exactly what he expected, he decides blackmailing her into a relationship to lure her father out is the way to go. The fake engagement is the starting point of true emotions and soon both of them are more involved than they expected, but what happens when Lia’s father appears? And what if he doesn’t?

While I enjoyed the overall story in Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire, I can’t say I was ever really sold on their relationship. Their first encounter was a great start, but I felt that we should have witnessed the time they spent together when she was moved in to his apartment. As it was it felt like during those weeks they shared close to no time in the same space. This made it difficult for me to believe in the reason for the depth of their feelings for the other.

Other than that, the story was well paced with steamy and hot moments. Luc was a bit of a jerk who had a tendency to manipulate everything around him to get what he wanted regardless of the possible consequences to others. While I understood where his reluctance to trust a woman came from, I wish he could have been more honest with himself earlier on in the story.

Lia I had a bit more trouble liking, as I felt she come across as far away from assertive as you could get. Her plan was half-assed and then she lets herself be dragged into Luc’s scheming, and though she accepts her feelings she keeps running away at the first difficulty. I just wanted her to make up her mind already and stick to her decision!

I would have loved an epilogue as a little glimpse into their future as a couple might have given me what I felt I missed during the story. As it was, Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire was a good story, with nice characters I couldn’t completely connect with.

Review time. The plot wasn't too terribly bad. Olivia innocently looking for her father who disappeared 10 years ago, her mother has died and she's now looking after her 10 year old brother with the help of a live in life long housekeeper/now friend. Olivia has a job at a local stable and is a rider, and hopeful to get sponsorship to further her riding career. That item plays a minor role in the story. Armed with some information she seeks out someone who she remember her mother talking about who knew her father. All she wants from him is his financial help with the mortgage. Nothing more. She thinks he is a small time crook, who was in and out of their lives and who her Mother hinged her every breath on. Meeting this man, owner of a strip club who knew her mother and her father, also happens that Luc shows up that night. She meets with Harley under false pretenses and then Luc makes her a better "job" offer, whisking her away getting her drunk and seducing her. He doesn't trust her, and his lust for revenge against her father seems to come back to the surface again in his life. He's going to use Olivia to lure her father out so he can get the satisfaction for his wrong doing. Which we're left in the dark on. Olivia obviously doesn't know this. She wants no part of him after that first night and he leaves her no choice but to return to London with him. Tired trope here.
Luc was a walking mass of deception, ran hot and cold and I didn't believe a word that came out of his mouth. He treated Olivia for the most part like dirt. I never got the connection between these two, even sexually and couldn't relate to either character. She's a doormat and he's a lying, manipulative SOB. The story was tired, you got bits and scatters of a back story and the end was just pat.
Nina Croft is a great writer and crafter of stories. This just wasn't one of her finer moments.

Luc Severino has a grudge against Lia's father, Jimmy Brent. A grudge that he has been holding for over 10 years. Lia is searching for her father for different reasons. What neither of them know is that they both equally hate him. Lia for the way he treated her and her mom, for him leaving without ever knowing that he had a son and for him leaving them broke. Luc for what Jimmy Brent did to his father and for trying to have him killed while in jail.

When Lia goes to a strip-club owned by a former acquaintance of her father's, she doesn't realize that she is being set up to help Luc exact his revenge on Jimmy Brent. What Luc doesn't know is how hard he will fall for the daughter of his enemy. Luc offers her a job, takes her back to his office and then blackmails her with the pictures that she didn't know were being taken. What happens from here will have you wishing that you had your own Italian Billionaire to blackmail you.

“Blackmailed” takes you from the countryside of England, to London and then to a secluded island in Italy. Ms. Croft took two people from different back-grounds with different goals and wove a wonderful tale of love and romance. She showed all sides of both Lia and Luc, threw a little mystery in with Jimmy Brent and his past and brought it all together in one hot book.

I have not had the pleasure of reading Nina Croft before but I so look forward to reading more of her. Lia and Luc were just plain sizzling! The book had love, laughter and some smoking hot love scenes.

I really liked Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire. It is a good contemporary romance with a good plot, great characters, and it’s steamy hot too! Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire is one of Entangled Publishing’s new Indulgence line and I think it’s a winner! I fell in love with Luc from the beginning (I mean look at that smoking hot cover!) he’s one of those flawed alpha heroes with a possessive streak and a go after what you want attitude. I really would have loved to be in Lia’s place with Luc on his private island…what’s not to love about that? I thought at the beginning that Olivia was a little too naïve but then by the end she had really grown into her character.

I would have liked a little more back-story about what happened between Luc and Olivia’s father the story was a little foggy on that part of the plot. All in all it was an enjoyable short escape for a couple hours and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys hot romance!

Favorite Quote: “I have to admit to a certain level of moral flexibility when it comes to getting what I want,” he said. “It’s probably best you know that right from the start.”

This book has some Harlequin Presents vibe. What with the title, the billionaire with his penthouse, Ferrari, private jet & private island. it is an engrossing and passionate read. The writing style is pretty good and the plot very compelling with the mystery about Lia's father.
Lia is looking for the father she didn't see in 10 years because he took a mortgage on their home and she needs the money back or she - and her brother- will lose their home. When Lia goes to a strip-club owned by a former acquaintance of her father's, she doesn't realize that she is being set up by Luc who thinks Lia is the link to her father who killed Luc's father and set Luc up in prison when he was 18y.
Luc is arrogant and ruthless. He is very controlling and very manipulating, constantly pushing Lia & lying to her in order to get what he wants. What Luc doesn't know is how hard he will fall for the daughter of his enemy.

This book was actually shaping up to be a pretty good read for me. I could ignore the fact that there weren’t really any crime scenes and it just focused on the romance. I could ignore how naive the heroine was. I could even almost ignore what a jerk the male love interest was bc he had his moments. Then this scene came up. Basically the guy had leaked a story to the press that was very damaging to the reputation of the heroine and her little brother, forcing the heroine to leave the country and go with him to Italy. When she found out, her reaction was “I can’t be mad at him because all he wanted was for us to be alone together and I wanted it too”, I kid u not!. To make matters worse this was the guy’s apology which this girl decided to accept : “ Look, Lia, I was wrong, but I’m used to going after what I want, and I wanted you.” That’s the earth defying apology that this guy came up with. That scene ruined this book for me. I truly expected better.

I love this book! Made my day every time I read it. I kind of thought at first that this will be some typical novel.. but heck NO! This is just so much more. I didn't expect to love the characters so much. I also like that they're personalities didn't matched up but hey they really are meant to be together. This just proves that no matter wrong the situation is for both of you.. Love will still find a way to resolve it.

Revenge is never a good thing. Love is something that happens unexpectedly and one can’t chose who you fall in love with.

This was a great read. I love reading about billionaire men and how they fall so unexpectedly. How they think that they need to do something and they have this great plan and nothing pans out. This is exactly what happens with Olivia “Lia” and Luc. Lia needs to find her father and she will do anything to find him even do something she never thought she would do. Now as for Luc when that phone call comes in he knows what he needs to do but the moment he sees her he is a goner especially after the first time that he kisses her. It was like they instantly fell in love but before they can reach that happily ever after all the cards have to be shown. He needs to tell her why he is looking for her father and she needs to trust in him even though sometimes he can be an asshat.

Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire was a great read. The chemistry between these two characters was passionate, it was steaming HOT. They were meant for each other they just needed to find a way to be together.

I totally recommend this read!!!

A nice, quick read.

Olivia is searching for her father who left her family years ago. While searching, she meets Luc. Luc also searches for Olivia's father. I like the plot. This is an easy read. There are a lot of steamy scenes.
