Robert N. Linscott
38 books4 followersRobert Newton Linscott (May 1, 1886 – September 25, 1964) was an American editor. From 1904 to 1944, Linscott was an editor at Houghton-Mifflin. He served as editor for early Truman Capote and Carson McCullers works. From 1944 until his retirement in 1957, Linscott was the senior editor for Random House.
Linscott himself edited a number of collections for both houses, among them Best American Humorous Short Stories (1945), Best Short Stories of Bret Harte (1947), The World's Great Thinkers: A Boston Reader (1948), Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci (1957), and Letters and Poems of Emily Dickinson (1959).
