MEIKA HASHIMOTO's first baking foray was a chocolate cake. She was eight years old and, in her excitement, forgot a few key ingredients like sugar and baking powder. She also left the cake in the oven for far too long. Although it resembled a brick, her parents politely ate it and gave her very encouraging feedback. Meika's baking techniques have improved greatly since then. When she's not kneading bread dough or baking cheesecakes, she can be found editing children's books.
My preschooler adores Barbie, her sisters and the colorful storybooks. I find them a bit stiff on dialogue and lacking in plot/storyline. We will continue to read them though because they make the little happy and happy to read.
Barbie arrives at her aunt's shop, Millicent's, to see that it's being closed. Business has been dropping out lately, since competitors have copied her designs and sold them as their own. Millicent feels like there is no reason to keep it open, due to the lack of business. But, with help from Amy, Millicent's worker, they discover the Flairies, who make any dress that they love into a shimmering, glimmering, shining masterpiece that anyone would love. The Flairies help Barbie and Amy make several wonderful dresses. However, the thievious competitors steal the Flairies to try to make them beautify their dresses. The Flairies refuse, but are tricked into it. So, the dresses turn to stinky garbage at the fashion show. Barbie and Amy get the Flairies back, and Millicent's fashion show turns out magnificent. Then, there is no reason for her to close the shop. ---------------- For some reason, I keep feeling like the name Amy is wrong. Sorry if it was a different name.
