Sarah's husband, Thierry got a mysterious email. An amulet he has been searching for for centuries, one he thought destroyed, is going to be at an auction. Of course they have to go, it could be dangerous after all. When the house locks them in, that is proven true.
At every step of the book, From Fear to Eternity reminded me of oh so many other ones I have read. This draws inspiration from countless others before it. I've gotten hints of that before throughout the other series. I could see the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Anita Blake, Vampire Executioner influences. I could see a few other series I'm sure the author read at some point. Nothing prior to this had this level of familiarity, though.
From Fear to Eternity has a very simple premise. They're locked in a house with a killer on the loose and an even bigger danger to come if they don't find an amulet. If they do not find it by sunrise, everyone will die. This is nothing new. You have probably seen this exact story a hundred times before. The book isn't even really different within the series. The only thing that is different is that Sarah is mostly alone this time around. Oh wait, no it isn't. This happens every book!
It has been four years since this book has been released, and I'm confident that it is unlikely we'll get more in this series. This didn't actually feel like the end to the series, but it isn't not an end. I didn't actually expect anything specific about these books other than some mysteries until she ran out of idea or people stopped buying. For an ending, this works just as well as anything else.
From Fear to Eternity is yet another lovely cozy paranormal mystery by the incredibly brilliant Michelle Rowen! It might even be the last one, I am not positive on that but even this ending has an air of finality, but yet, there is definitely loads of room for more! I mean Thierry and Sarah are only 1 month into Thierry's 50-year contract with the Ring!
This time, the couple is interrupted during their honeymoon by a peculiar invitation to come to a private auction where an item of interest will be offered. The item is a magical amulet containing a djinn, and Thierry is hoping to get this lost item back as he thought it lost many, many years ago.
The night will be one that no one will forget and it's filled with several surprises too! The host, Sebastian has a connection to Thierry, not only that, but one of the other guests is Veronique, his ex-wife. Yeah, this is definitely going to be a fun night! At the auction's end, just as Sarah and Thierry believe they have bought the amulet, the amulet is missing and a powerful deity proclaims that they must find it and the djinn who escaped before sunrise...or else bad things will happen to them all. And this is what leads to a group of vampires traipsing around a mansion searching for a small, delicate necklace...and a djinn. Fun times!
What really starts to rack up the tension is when the partygoers start to be murdered one by one. This was an unexpected twist to the mystery because naturally, that means the murderer is one of them. Hello Clue! The signs are obviously pointing to the host Sebastian that Thierry is tied to from the past, but there's still the matter of the djinn and amulet to find before everyone else is likely to die by a powerful deity.
This mystery was quite fun too! There's a rather unexpected twist towards the middle that completely derails our characters, but it was rather interesting, fun, and a tad bit funny too! Wouldn't mind having that experience myself with other "works"--you'll know what I mean by that once you read the book as I don't want to give you more details!
This was yet another fast-paced read that I managed in a day! Cozy paranormal mysteries are a lot of fun for me! There's just enough paranormal element to enjoy and a mystery is always great too! Plus, just because this is deemed "cozy" doesn't mean there's no danger or action, there's plenty of that in here as well! One that has you on the edge of your seat and gripping the pages!
I found myself able to successfully guess who-dun-it this time around, but not their whole master plan in details. It's always fun to guess right too! If only you follow the clues...and yet, sometimes you really do just need to guess!
It was a delightful read and I once again found myself enjoying the story and characters quite a bit, despite not knowing their full backstory from the previous series. All in all, a very good read!
THE GOOD: I want to JUMP.THEIRRY'S.BONES! Like I've always had. I'm such a sucker for old and dangerous powerful men with dour and cold disposition. I know. Sarah and have issues.
THE GOOD: I know some book decreases in quality as the series progresses but this one is seriously as deserving of 5 stars as the other. I've been following this series from the beginning. Way in the beginning when Thierry was trying to kill himself? And I HAVE never been disappointed. The mystery is as enchanting. The characters are engaging. The plot is just as amusing and funny.
THE BAD: Some scenes are cheesy. Other times it borders to corny.
THE GOOD: I'm a sucker for corny, cheezy chick lit. Especially if Thierry de Bennicoeur's in there. Put him in any chick lit- good or bad and I'd totally adore it.
THE GOOD: I'm in love with this series. Like, TAKE MY LIFE AND MY BLOOD AND GIVE ME SOME MORE twisted kind of love. I'm even beginning to like Veronica. No matter how bitchy she is from the beginning. And that Altricus ring leader is kinda cool. I'd LOVE to see a story of Sebastian and Melanie like the one for Quinn and that heartless, bitch Jannie (?) who I still think should be staked but as long as she makes Quinn happy, I'll tolerate her.
THE BAD: Is this the end of Sarah and Thierry's tale?? Can there be like- 13 more installment to come??
The start of the book feels like the Clue movie. Really fun. I expected Tim Curry to pop out at some point. Heck of a ride. A mix of characters are trapped in a mansion with a seemingly impossible task demanded of them and death a very real possibility. The difference from other mysteries is that the main characters are vampires, some friendly, some not, a werewolf, maybe a witch and possibly even a ghost. Noone is beyond suspicion and Sarah Dearly is faced with her most challenging puzzle yet.
I flew through the first three books in this series. I hope there are more to come. Lots of fun. Really exciting. A bit madcap at times. Always entertaining. I highly recommend this if you are a fan of paranormal mysteries with a touch of romance. This is a real page turner. They just keep getting better.
This series gets better and better. The mystery is well-executed and entertaining, but what made this especially moving and satisfying is the long running conflicts about Thierry's addiction and Veronique's dismissive attitude toward her ex-husband's love for Sarah are faced and make significant progress in believable (given that this a paranormal novel) ways that deepens the characters and strengthens their relationships. Sarah's growth as a character beginning to come into her own and trusting herself, Thierry and their relationship was fun to read.
Wow. What a great read. I was pulled into the story immediately with the mysterious email that Thierry receives. I love supernatural stories, and mystery so this book was a perfect fit for me.
Loved -The variety of characters. The famous actress Tasha Evans, disgruntled and vengeful Sebastien, powerful Veronique, tenacious Sarah Dearly, strong and composed Thierry, a werewolf, a Djinn, the headless dude, and vampires throughout! -The writing style and dialogue was really enjoyable it, the story flowed well and I never grew tired of reading it. -Elements of magic, the parallel world so to speak, the different magical tools (dagger, amulet), and the fate of Vampires when they expire. -Conclusion; I loved how Sarah holds her ground and the ending is still satisfying!
What I did not love -SPOILER. The head in the freezer is there initially, page 73 Thierry looks for him and he is absent, but 246 when she checks again he is there again. Where did he go in between? I know it's a small gripe but I like things to make logical sense. He's got no legs, how would he travel. If someone can clarify this, I would love to know if there is an explanation.
I may read this again; it's a good, speedy read and a good story. I am definitely going to check out the other mysteries by her!
Some plots have me guessing until the end. But, not on the mystery to the talking head. I could see it from miles away 😉. The ending to the story was very satisfying. I'm pleased to have the conclusion to Veronique's romance.
It seemed like almost all the characters we knew from the previous series had their romance life sorted out. But, what about Barkley? Sarah did mention him in this book and thought of pairing him with the lone wolf, but in the end, it seems like she might be with Sebastian.
Overall, it was a fun and easy read over both series. It doesn't look like the author will continue with another book in this series since this was published almost seven years ago, and there is no mention of it. But, who knows 🙂. Adios Sarah!
This is honestly my favorite paranormal romance series that I've ever read and let me tell you, I read A LOT!!! That's is a very high praise! I am so glad I found this suggestion in my box. It was a great reading their paranormal journey! I will definitely read them again in the next few years! If you love romance and the paranormal then you MUST read this series! I just wish there were more books in the series because I seriously CANNOT get enough of it!
I enjoyed this series. The stories are quirky and filled with action and romance. Sometimes you just want a happy ever after moment and this particular book in the series handed that up on a silver platter.
This series continues to be just as addictive as the first book 😃. Lots of Love, intense situations, nasty bad people, Fantastic characters and a wonderful HEA 😉. Thanks again Michelle, I truly Love this series and can't wait to read more 🤓.
Really enjoyed reading this book in the series. Highly recommend reading. Loved it as much as the previous ones in this series. Looking forward to reading more by Michelle Rowen.
Sarah and her husband Thierry attend an auction run by an unidentified vampire, with the hint that the Jacquerra Amulet containing a genie is up for bid. There have been murders of key leaders of the Ring, a powerful and shadowy Vampire council, and suspicion is running high. Thierry is asked by some Ring leadership members to secure the Amulet and keep even the head of Ring from getting hold of it for possible murderous intents. What should have been a few hours of work turns into a long night full of vengeance, evil magic, and several dead bodies. In the midst of this, Sarah and Thierry's trust is tested more than ever before. Can they survive the night alive...and still together?
Sarah Dearly is still a bit impulsive and tenacious, but her loyalty to Thierry will be tested in this adventure with political landmines and a dangerous spell. Thierry de Bennicoeur, the 600 year old master vampire has to face his past come back to hunt him and Sarah seeing a less pleasant side to him. Veronique, Thierry's ex-wife, is bold, condescending, and a thorn in Sarah's life. Sebastian, the long missing vampire Thierry sired, shows up to complicate everything. The troublesome genie of the coveted amulet is a surprise character...that is all I can say without any spoilers.
The Beverly Hills mansion is vast and has great gothic suspense touches, making it feel like a medieval castle. It was not only a creepy setting, but added to the sense of being trapped. The mansion was utilized so well that the pacing kept going in-spite of the entire book occurring in one location. The plot was deftly handled with some good twists and plenty of shadowy motives. The climax was icing, delivering some good suspense. The wrap-up left me wanting more.
This series doesn't disappoint, with another exciting addition and it keeps getting better. The characters are developing, the plots are meaty, and the action is hair-raising. I love this light urban fantasy that supplies just enough "grit" while keeping upbeat touches.
Near Perfect - Buy two copies: one for you and one for a friend.
I had not read the first 2 in this series and have to say I do not think you have to in order to enjoy this book. Sarah (Dearly) de Bennicoeur is still a very young and impulsive vampire. Newly married and just back from her honeymoon, she hopes to settle in to bliss with her husband Thierry de Bennicoeur. Even as he works as a consultant for the Ring, she believes they can enjoy their new life without too many adventures. She is about to be disappointed.
The happy couple is sent an invitation to attend an auction that may include the Jacquerra Amulet. This amulet contains a genie and could be used for all sorts of murderous and evil intent. Thierry has been asked to get it and keep it from falling into the wrong hands. Events get hectic when the 600 year old master vampire is faced with his past. And not just his ex wife Veronique who is not Sarah’s favorite person.
The setting is a great and gothic Beverly Hills mansion; no one knows who the owner is and what is ahead during this long night. Surprise characters include the genie, an unattached head, a werewolf servant, a witch and the long lost Sebastian who was sired by Thierry. All the action takes place in one night, starting at midnight and must be completed before dawn.
The characters are engaging and diverse. The settling is intriguing and large enough to hold all the action. The storyline is fun and keeps you guessing. Subplots include trust issues for Sarah and Thierry, the past of several characters, genies, witches and more. This installment leaves things open for more in the series.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves the vampire genre for sure. I am not one of those and I still really enjoyed it. The action was fast paced and not frivolous. Everything had a reason and a purpose. Ms. Rowen’s writing style is fast paced yet easy to read and enjoy. I would say that those who enjoy a good mystery, yet are not into the vampire scene could still appreciate this book.

Have you ever heard of those mystery on a train games where you solve a murder during the ride? Well fledgling vampire Sarah Dearly-de Bennicoeur and her master vampire, new husband Thierry received an invitation to an auction that has an amulet Thierry has been searching for centuries to obtain. When Sarah unwittingly submits the winning bid, several people there hit her with hate filled eyes. As they are paying for the amulet the people who remain past midnight find themselves locked in the mansion with no way to escape, the amulet missing and a werewolf server taken over by a witch to send out a message: Find the evil that has been loosed by the amulet by dawn and return it or everyone in the mansion or die. With deaths happening and lies floating everywhere, a decapitated ghost of a Djinn pleading for his body to be returned and her beloved Thierry's bloodlust brought forth by a cursed drink, Sarah has her work cut out for her! Sweet will gain you more than threats? Time will tell!
I love Sarah's voice - it's unique and hilarious! (Sarcastic humour is right up my alley.) In what sounds like the last book in the series (boo, but it is a logically way to end it), Sarah has to think on her feet (I love the way she talks through her mysteries) or else her and Thierry's happily ever after won't last beyond dawn. Fun and light, I was sucked in with Sarah as she tried to discover what happened - and why. I liked the characters - lots of profiles and, as always, Sarah never doubts Thierry.
I am now tempted to go back to the very beginning and read Bitten & Smitten (I skipped the romance series, and went right to the mystery), though this series may deserve a reread in the future.
From the author's note at the start, I'm not sure if this will be the last book in the series or if there are more to come. With how things ended it could go either way.
I did find it funny how Theirry and Sarah were at a party with so many vampires from Theirry's past. Some of them were friends, others not so much. I loved how things quickly devolved to a "who-done-it". At first there wasn't a clear suspect, however it clearly changed, the person surprising me, along with their motive. I thought that Sarah did a great job of thinking on her feet to thwart the bad guy time and time again, but the last time was the best yet. Karma, she is a bitch sometimes.
I REALLY like this series and truly hope this isn't the last one. The ending made it look like it could go either way. This was a good story and I went back and forth on who the bad guy really was. I like the relationship between Sarah & Thierry. She brings out all the good things in him. if you like this series anyway, this one will just add to your enjoyment, and if you like a little vampire in your stories, give this series a shot! RECOMMEND!
I really enjoyed this book and the little spin off series. It was nice to see some more of Thierry and Sarah's love story as they are such a perfect couple. This book in particular was great because it dipped into it on a different level with how much Sarah believed in Thierry.
I also love how Veronique got her happy ending finally.
The only critism I have is that I found it a little predicatable.
Dis book was so interesting dat I frgot 2 even update my progress in it. Seriously, dis book was worth d wait. Now, I am waiting patiently for d nxt book, so the stories of new characters can be written.
love these books. sara and Thierry are off to Cailf. for an auction by a mysterious host. The usual happens when sarah is invited and hilarity ensues. Read the vampire with a heart, sarah Dearly, who even thaws master vamp's Thierry's heart.
I enjoy this series and this book started with promise to be another fun one in the series. I unfortunately lost interest part way through as it was very wordy and could have expanded more in certain parts. I will most likely read the next book in the series as I enjoyed the first 2.
Enjoyed Sarah and Thierry's adventure as always however the end seemed so final I hope this isn't the last book in the series cause I'd miss the characters a lot :(
