This fun book packed full of fascinating facts will keep you entertained on any car journey, and which certainly beats doing homework!!

This drivetime book of really useful (and remarkable) information is based on the BBC 2 Radio show series, presented by host Simon Mayo whose channel is extremely popular. What originally started out as a show where children could phone in with their homework issues, for the radio 2 team to answer, now has turned into a wide-raging discussion on Q & A format for all ages. These days the ‘Homework Sucks’ segment of Simon Mayo’s award-winning drivetime show invites listeners of any age, to ask those questions that they have always wanted an answer to; regardless of how bizarre or out of the ordinary. There is then a great chance that a member of the very clever radio 2 audience will have an answer, and so the highlights of the show have now been recorded down in this wonderful book that will delight both old and new listeners of the show!

I can guarantee (and sincerely apologize beforehand) that in the process of reading this extraordinary book, you will become…

*smarter – with the mindset of a combination of Bamber Gascoigne and Jeremy Paxman.

* More interesting - like being able to randomly mention over the dinner table with the family the most peculiar but astonishing fact, from the Queen’s menu to the meaning of time

* Better at pub quizzes – so that you are not sat with a glass of wine pulling out your hair, to then suddenly jump up in your seat and give the incorrect answer whilst boasting about it & then looking a complete idiot (that ‘Bridget Jones moment!)

*All of the above and more…

This spectacular book is something that I will treasure and which I can certainly envisage taking with me on my next holiday, to the beach or definitely when I next go on a tedious 2+ hours car journey into London. Not only does the eye-catching cover make you fall over in fits of giggles but the question and answer format within the book is easy to read, complete with comical and delightful illustrations that bring each tale to life! From mind-boggling mathematics to cultural conundrums, biological brainteasers and random ruminations; this book is just bursting with personality, wit and cleverness!!

Some of my favorite questions have to include…
“…why are badge logos and pockets always on the left side of shirts?”

“How soon after eating Cake do we put on weight?!”

“…what would happen if the moon disappeared?”

“I discovered today that JK Rowling has sold 400 million books. While I appreciate this is a fantastic achievement, I wondered how many trees would be needed to make that many books?”

*I would like to take this opportunity of thanking ‘What shall I read?’ book blog for hosting a giveaway, of a signed copy of Simon Mayo’s fantastic & utterly brilliant book.*
