Scott Harper is the bestselling, award-winning author of more than 30 published short stories and several novels. There has been talk, from several fronts, about turning his fourth novel, "Predators or Prey?", the first book in his Wendy Markland series, into a live-action project. Interest from a movie producer has also been voiced about turning his bestselling, award-winning eighth novel, "Quintana Roo, Yucatan", into a film.
Harper grew up in Ohio, and graduated from Marysville High School in 1993, and began screenwriting in 2007, after the publication of several short stories and novels. He has worked on projects for James Tucker Productions and 11th Dimension Films. He is currently involved with several projects, covering literature, film and comic books. He is also a contributing writer for the sasquatch blog known as "Bigtruth".
Scott is very happily married to bestselling paranormal author Desirée Lee. Together, they have a wonderful little girl, and are working jointly on several projects. I had just finished reading the first two books in this series Predator or Prey? and Necromancer. This is the third book in Scott Harper’s Wendy Markland series. In our first story, the title is a subtle reminder of what can and does happen. We meet Jacob Iverson, Wendy and her nine year old brother, Glen traveling the country. They are a con duo, calling themselves vampire hunters, armed with a trunk full of stakes, garlic and assorted garbage to attest to the validity. When the unimaginable happens, they stumble on a nest of vampires, their lives change forever.
Two years later, Wendy has seen a newspaper article of Karen Weinstock in Pinewick NJ who claims to have seen a dead friend walking in her yard. No one believes her, and Wendy arrives into town to question the woman. Wendy thinks they might be vampires. With the help of Karen and Sheriff Keely they come upon a nest of zombies all started by someone with all good intentions. Remember that old adage “No good deed goes unpunished?” There is always a love interest for our Wendy and this time she falls for Garland Potash, and, alas, she leaves him to continue his life in N.J. After helping Sheriff Keely and her new friends save their town, she leaves New Jersey alone, driving to Florida as we open Vindicated.
Wendy finds as she is traveling through Florida there has been a truck in her rear view mirror for hours. Finally feeling this was getting way out of hand, she gets out of her car at a gas station and meets Colm Price, Vampire Hunter. This is where our story begins. Colm has told her he has heard in his travels, a very fearsome group has been formed called the Kindred of Malignity. It is different from the first Cultus,. These are self styled assassins who pursue vampire hunters. Their target will be Wendy Markland. The group is at Nine. Each vampire was specifically chosen to be part of this group. If one member should perish, their strength is passed to the others to strengthen them against her. Colm tells he has decided to find her and help her fight these demons.
With each book, Wendy has many of the same traits. She has fought enemies against terrible odds, she is growing as a warrior. Her desire is to rid the world of this evil still pushes her buttons. Her desire to be loved now by a good man is utmost in her mind , after her time with Jacob and her loss of her baby brother, Glen.
Mr Harper puts them in an area very close to my home. They go to the Gulf Coast of Florida to a town called Tarpon Springs. This is one of my favorite places to go and also bring my visitors to see. It is a quaint old fishing village, where many of the Greek population settled, known as The Sponge Docks. Large fishing boats line either side of the river leading out to the Gulf of Mexico and you usually find excursion boats and fishing boats to rent as well. Mr Harpers descriptions are wonderful about this sea side town, the many tourist areas, the foods you can even smell in the air. This all adds to the flavor of this wonderful area. This is where Wendy and Colm become friends, become lovers and learn of the evil that is lurking. This vampire coven has them running in circles and as one is killed you can feel and see the others grow stronger…
This book has Wendy and Colm as a great team, sharing love and trust, and battling the vampires who now can walk in the sun! My only impression was the final show down. Our author has shown us these vampires take no hostages; it is a fight to the death. Here in the hull of an old fishing ship all the horrors and fear and blood and gore surround us, to which our vampire leader shows us a human moment. I scratched my head at him allowing our two hunters a ‘moment’ to speak their love to each other….Never would have thought that…
This series has grown in my estimation from the first in the series and I look forward to Mr. Harper continuing. I certainly will read more.

The third book in the Wendy Markland Series is Vindicated by Scott Harper.
The third book has us picking up directly after Wendy’s encounter with the walking dead and other nefarious creatures. She has left an opportunity to find happiness with survivalist Garland Potash and is on her way to Florida, searching for more vampires and trying to lose someone on her tail. Enter Colm Pryce, a hunter with a heart of gold.
Scott Harper once again ramps up the adrenaline as Wendy is now the hunted, as a group of mercenary vampires are seeking to destroy her. This book like the others is well crafted and paced beautifully. Mr. Harper has taken his readers on a wonderful ride and we have seen Wendy grow and mature on an emotional level. Just as the books before, Wendy is pinned against a horrible foe, but now she has Mr. Pryce. And once again, she may be given a chance to be happy and find love… the chance to have a normal life.
I have loved reading this series and I hope that there will be more to come. I’ve really grown to like Wendy, although I should hate her for all of her beauty, but I can’t help it. I love her. Scott Harper has created a wonderful character and world that I enjoy visiting, I hope I get to go back for more.
