Alone
A young man awakens from a long hibernation sleep on board an eerie and haunting, crew-less space shuttle, with no memory of who he is or how he ended up on board the 'lost in space' vessel.
When a young woman awakens from hibernation shortly after him and curiously has no previous memories about her past existence either, the young man has no choice but to solve the mystery of the shuttle, who they both really are and what became of the other crew members who haunt him frequently with chilling, ghostly visions, from all corners of the ship.
All this leads him too, though, is the realization of a slow, but imminent death, a fate of a never-ending solitude to be trapped in space for the remainder of his life and a surreal but dangerous, sexual urge towards his new and mysterious female companion, which is made all the more chilling when his basic animalistic urges are encouraged by the main apparition who haunts him.

A short novel "The Desolation of Solitude" by Sean Paul Thomas is for me a complete surprise in the writer's opus. I read a few of his books, but none was a SciFi genre. I have to admit that I'm pleasantly surprised because Sean-Paul Thomas writes very well in this area as well. The story itself is very dark and leads us to the world of the psyche of a man wandering in an unknown place, without remembering the past. Since I did not reveal too many stories, I can tell you that what is being revealed during the story will not be so comfortable. The author positively surprised me with this short novel, and I am confused that there will be plenty of books before him that can surprise you. With pleasure, I read and recommend a book to fans of psychological SciFi.

Stupid and pointless
This book was nothing more than a selfish expose of all that is wrong with the human race except in a way justice was served .
I certainly did not find it fascinating but rather frustrating.
I will however find it was all too human. You know a
survival epoch of something with a goal.
It should have been titled Lust in Space.

April 5, 2020Dreadful writing! Just terrible! When the writing is this bad I can't even bring myself to read on.

i really enjoyed this short story, the title character wakes up without his memory of whom and where he is, w/o his memory he is like a child, lost, scared and alone
as the story progresses you are taken on this wild ride between “what the heck is going on” and “whoa, didn’t see that coming”, when you discover the truths behind the whys and how’s, you still find yourself routing for the main character
the ending gives you a true feeling of just what alone can truely mean,you are also left with a big question of just how long of a sleep they all had
the only thing i felt could have been done better was anna, i felt like the author could have given her a little more depth, she comes off as being too weak to make that risky sexual advance just after david pushed away from the shower scene

Stories about amnesia or loss of memory have always intrigued me. So when I saw the description of this book, I was hooked.
I did enjoy the book quite a bit. The story was interesting. The development of the characters was good. And there were a few very interesting twists along the way.
However, the ending left me clueless. I reread the last few pages several times, thinking I must have missed something. But I still have no idea what the ending means. It felt like the book just suddenly stopped, and was missing the final chapter.

Not a bad story but the book could be vastly improved by a good editor.

SAY SOMETHING NICE: Some twists. Things got slightly more interesting in the last 30% (in spite of the aggravating cliffhanger ending).
TWO HUGE AWARDS:
1) The worst grammar and spelling I've seen in a published "novel" in at least 15 years.
2) A hilarious number of stirred loins. You've been warned.
VERDICT: 0.25 solar units. Avoid.
(1.75 stars, minus 1.5 for atrocious grammar = 0.25).
TRIGGER CONTENT? Yes, but probably only if you're a super-sensitive soul.

When a young woman awakens from hibernation shortly after him and curiously has no previous memories about her past either, our protagonist is forced to solve the mystery of the 'lost in space' vessel, who the pair really are and what became of the other crew members who haunt him frequently with their ghostly and chilling apparitions.
Soon the young man must come to terms with his own lonely fate, his possible limited existence and a dangerous sexual urge towards his fellow amnesiac companion.
You awaken in a mysterious place, no idea who and where you are, and a suffering a massive headache. This is the plight of our lone amnesiac, and as we follow him truths will found; even some that are best left hidden.
Written in first person, we experience the strange surroundings along with the main character as he searches for answers.
“The window was clear, clear as my breath and the air around me. The blackness was coming from outside. It was coming from behind the glass screen and from every direction beyond. It looked like an entire ocean of darkness out there from top to bottom, left to right and as far and as wide as my eyes could see. Just a vast enormity of emptiness.” -excerpt from “Alone”
The author builds suspense and the loneliness of being aboard a deserted spaceship and when our amnesiac begins to experience ghostly apparitions the apprehension really mounts.
'It's okay. I won't leave you alone anymore, okay.'-excerpt from “Alone”
The pace is slow at times, but with a story like this the atmosphere and characters keep it enjoyable throughout.

In early parts of the novel, the writing seems to be that of a 12 year old (no editor?). This becomes less distracting with time (partly, as the narrator is intentionally so superficial/immature). As the story progresses, you really are pulled in-excellent pacing. Fascinating read.

Good idea
While I felt the plot line was wonderful, the poor writing left me struggling to finish. Lots of twists, turns and unexpected events but also a lot of grammar and spelling errors

Intense
Wow. what can I say, you will be surprised at the findings about himself once he leaves the pod. once you experience his past you will wonder how his future will end.

This book had a slow start but I'm glad that I kept at it. It got kinda creepy and a little disgusting in a good sorta way. I wish it had been longer.
