Daniel is a loner, a tom cat in the world of shifter's. He was orphaned at a young age and left to fend for himself. His past experiences have taught him to be wary of other cats of his own kind. He is good at cat burglary and on one such occasion has the bad luck to run into another burglar, actually a group of them.
Michael encounters Daniel during an espionage mission. Hired to protect the two princes's who have come to a charity gala he is also in search of evidence that may bring the same royalties downfall. His crew mistakenly injures Daniel and it is Michael who rescue's him, all the while falling in love with him.
The two cat's have a sexy, steamy encounter but will it be enough to bring a tom cat back into the fold? Will Michael give up his 'catting' ways as well and stay with Daniel?
Emily Wilcox lives in a little seaside resort in Florida. She spends her time with a rescue animal mission when she is not writing. Emily donated the proceeds of her last three books to rescue marine animals during the oil spill in the Gulf.
2 STARS: I really liked the story idea, but the idea of this secret organization of shifters who work on a slightly bent side of the law wasn't completely fleshed out, and the story felt rushed at the end. I really liked the main characters, but I was confused throughout the entire book as to whether or not Daniel (the main character) was a panther or a leopard, or a mixture? The editing of the book was lacking (I am sorry to use that phrase, but it was), I didn't know which him/his they referred to, and sometimes the his/her pronouns were also used interchangeably. The ONLY book I've seen hir/her/his etc pronouns work is Amaranth & Ash by Jessica Freely, and the author clearly stated the pronouns of hir would be used interchangeably amongst the characters up front, because of the nature of the characters, and it worked beautifully IMHO. In this book, I was left confused as to who was who. It seems to me the author did leave room for a sequel, so I think I'll see what the next book is about, but I was disappointed with this one. First book for me by this author.
