Love the rhymes!

Mental health in this book is depicted in a way that highlights common things that children are self-conscious about and the light that can be found in them. It speaks of these features only in a positive light which I think is really important for children who doubt themselves a lot. I think it's realistic to show these things in the way they are being shown, but it's unrealistic that it would be a cure-all for self-esteem. This book is very appropriate for a younger audience and dabbles in the world of mental health.

I really enjoy reading these books to young students. This book talks about a variety of kids. Children with braces, glasses, black hair or red hair, each student states something about themselves that they like.
At the end of the book there is a mirror. I like to pass this book around to each student. They will look into the mirror and state what they like about themselves. Then I have the student’s partner up and tell their peers something that they like about them.

Allia Nolan, the author, does a great job of teaching students how to find something positive about themselves and people around them.

This book is one of my new favorites. I had never read it before and chose it for a project in my diversity class and I am so glad I chose this book. All of the kids are so different and they embrace it and love it. It is very important to teach kids that being different is a good thing and that they should love themselves. Bullying is a big problem in most schools and I think this book is perfect to read to younger elementary classes to show them that everyone is awesome and to treat them with respect. Great book!

Review: This is one of my favorite books right know. I enjoyed reading this book to my classroom. It talks about how it is okay to be different we are all not the same and that's what makes us. Also at the end of the book its a mirror you could use this as a learning experience if you wanted have the child pass the book around and look in the mirror and have them share what the like about themselves.

What I like about me by Allia Zobel Nolan, is an amazing book that illustrates the differences in each child. Every character in the book gets to describe what they like about themselves although different from others. At the end of the book the author has a mirror and ask the child to tell what they like about themselves. I rated the book 5 stars for its potential in social emotional development and encouraging children to love themselves the way they are.

Allia Nolan reaches out to kids with this book about being yourself. In this book, Nolan describes how in this "perfect" world it is okay to be different and stand out with such things as braces or glasses. The tone and style of this writing is uplifting. This book does not tear down anyone for what they look like or what they act like. I would say the type of diversity in this story is the different kids. They may be different skin colors, or they may be different in a way that one has no hair, one wear glasses, one has braces, etc. The theme of this story is to be yourself because exactly who you are is the most awesome person. This intersects with my worldview because I try to be myself as much as i can. I have always been bigger than my sister. It just the way I'm built. When I was younger i hated it because everyone would compare me to her, But now i know that i am beautiful in my own way and i shouldn't try to be like her. I should just be me. The age appropriate group this would be for is ages 4-10. This appeals to the audience because this is the age kids get picked on and bullied. They should know that the way they are is beautiful and they shouldn't be ashamed of that or want to change themselves in any way.

I recently read "What I Like About Me" by Allia Nolan, and I must say, it was a delightful and heartwarming read. The book follows the story of sixteen-year-old Maisie Martin, who goes on a beach vacation with her family and learns to love and accept herself for who she is.

One of the things I loved about this book was how it tackled important issues like body image, self-esteem, and acceptance in a way that was relatable and easy to understand. Maisie's journey of self-discovery was both inspiring and empowering, and her struggles with body image and insecurity were something that many readers can relate to.

Another thing I appreciated about this book was the way it portrayed family relationships. The Martin family was imperfect yet loving, and their interactions felt genuine and authentic. I also liked how the book showed the importance of friendship and its impact on one's life.

"What I like about me" show so many different kinds of children's with there different characteristics. It shows the fact that they have big hair, big ears, freckles etc. The importance of how to love yourself no matter what are the circumstance in how you look. Every kid that is shown in the book have there own way to stand out. The theme in this book is acceptance, to accept yourself and love yourself. I really enjoy reading this book because sometimes kids have insecurities because they are not like some of the kids. I recommend this book for children's to read because they learn to love themselves no matter if you are small, big, have big nose, have small nose. I think is really important to teach kids to lover themselves.

This book is about the things that we as people can like about ourselves. This book reminds me that I must remember to think about the things about myself that I like. I like this book because it does a great job of normalizing our differences from each other as people. This book has a positive vibe and does a good job of showing off each thing about people that they might feel uncomfortable with. Love, love, LOVE this book! It's a celebration about everything that makes you unique. The children especially loved the end where they got to see themselves in the book (there's a mirror in the back)! I definitely recommend reading this to any small children to get them to love themselves as they are.

This is an awesome book for classroom use. This story can relate to topics such as cultural identity and differences, physical attributes, and self confidence. The teacher can ask children at the end of the book what they like about themselves while passing around the mirror, or ask children about the pictures while reading.

This story by Ms. Allia Zobel Nolan, about diversity, is a fun rhyming book with pictures of real children from every walk of life. I loved seeing all the different smiling faces and the pages at the end, where the reader can fill in information about their own friends, is a nice addition. Very good on pointing out difference in kids. Nice illustration, cover and use of colors. Words are easy to understand and follow along. Stayed on topic made it easy to ask question to kids or kids to teacher.The Mirror in the back added a nice touch, wouldn't change a thing.
