Once upon a time a bunch of dirty old men married off a seven-year-old girl to a passing stranger...two juvenile delinquents tried to tear down an old woman's house and ended up roasting her because she objected...an old merchant delivered his youngest daughter into the clutches of a monster in order to save his own life (the fact that the kid played the harpsichord at four in the morning had nothing to do with it)...

If you don't recognize "Snow White", "Hansel and Gretel", or "Beauty and the Beast", it's because Will Stanton's seven fractured fairy tales are stories Mother never told you.

If you have fond memories of these fairy stories, then don't read this book. If you like looking deeper into the psyche of things, then you'll love and appreciate it.
