In this Renegade Angels novella from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Crossfire series, a powerful angel breaks all the rules by falling for the mortal whose life she’s saved…
Chained in the dark, Trevor Descansos endures pain and terror as vampires slowly drain the life from him. He finds mercy in Sentinel Siobhan, a beautiful avenging angel with lethal wings. She draws Trevor from the depths of hell, wrapping him in the softness of the same feathers that she wielded like blades to cut down his tormentors.
Ageless and eternal, Siobhan has seen too much to be surprised by anything, but the mortal she finds in the pit of a vampire den shakes her to the core. Broken and near death, his ravaged masculine beauty stirs the heart she hadn't realized she possessed. Though she's tasked with eradicating the vampire disease sweeping across her world, she nurses Trevor back to health, healing him even as he awakens a forbidden longing. But the true test has yet to come.
Siobhan faces an even darker fate than Trevor's, as she falls from grace into mortal love...

I did not read #1, just #0.5 a long time ago, so I was completely new to this world. Trevor is a human who was tortured, kept as a blood slave for vampires to feed on for year(s). Siobhan is an angel and angels do not ordinarily feel emotion, but she feels sympathy and attraction toward him, even in his weakened state. then she's prepared to say goodbye. However, she didn't know that There is a lot of erotic tension, but no explicit sex scenes. I guess this is very satisfying to read if you've already read #1 in the series!
Wow I felt like that ended just when it got good. I’ve really missed this series. I’ll admit I was struggling to recall what I liked about it but as soon as Siobhán let Trevor in I remembered.
The Random Thoughts:
Favorite Quote - "I saw you and you hit me like a two-by-four between the eyes. I know that sounds like a line, but I'm serious. So take pity on me and give me a few minutes of your time. Or a few ours. Could I talk you into a few days? Maybe a week or few?"
The more I read Renegade Angels the more I like it. I read this book after I read book 2 so I knew what was going to happen but the story was still one I liked very much!! I hope the Sylvia Day gets her s*** together, I would like to finish this series at one point! I hate waiting for books, especially since Ms. Day has me now waiting for the two books left in the Renegade Angel series and the two books in Crossfire. UGH! I hope something comes about before 2015!
3.5 Stars For a species of beings that aren't supposed to have any feelings, those angels sure are having a hard time turning their backs on love.
Set to coincide with the events of A Hunger So Wild, this novella centers on the Seraph Siobhán. As the science-minded angel works with her team to clear out a vamp nest, she discovers Trevor, a human who has been their prisoner for the past year. He's been used for blood, sex, and sport and is now only a shadow of his former self. In Siobhán, he sees a savior and she can't turn away from the chance to help him become whole again.
In touching Trevor, Siobhán lives through his experiences and it changes her. She was already evolving into emotions but he puts that into overdrive. They connect, but Siobhán feels it's better for him --and for her-- to wipe his memory of his time in captivity so he can go back to a normal life. The question is, can either of them really do that?
I liked the story. I'm always a sucker for a tortured hero and Trevor looks at Siobhán like she hung the moon. There is not much in the way of on-page sex, but there are sexy times that are pretty good. (I would have liked to read the scene where Siobhán loses her virginity though.) I thought Trevor's emotional fragility and fixation on Siobhán was done well. I was surprised by how well he was doing at the end. I would have liked to see some cracks there, but it didn't ruin the story for me.
It ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. I just hope it's addressed in the next book.
Great follow up on book 01. Book 01 & 01.5 were awesome. Book 0.5, not so much. See below about book 02.
Not really looking forward to the next book though. The heroine is someone I do not like at all. Not sure if I'm gonna read it or not. Problem is that I very much like the hero. Decisions, decisions!
Oh my.. What a delight this short story was. I'm glad I don't have to wait but a couple days to continue reading about the Renegade Angels and the other characters in the books. Absolutely loved this story. Thank you, Sylvia Day.
What is up with the abrupt endings!!!! 😤 Really wanting to enjoy this series. The first book ends so abruptly that I thought the story might continue in 2nd. NOPE! That aside, I really liked the characters in this 2nd book and the plot EXCEPT......ANOTHER ABRUPT ENDING!! Why?!?!? I don't get it. It's not like the book is that long or anyone couldn't think of a bit more to add on. Very confusing really. This book had the potential to be really great. I love Silvia Day's writing and though this is very different from the others books I've ready by her, I never doubted she could pull off the paranormal. But seems she's falling short in the endings. Super Frustrating!
I won this from the Goodreads Giveaway, and being a huge fan of the Crossfire series I was looking forward to this novella. It left me rather disappointed. There was too much in such a short novel that it didn't work. This needed to be 300 pages or more vs the 107. Not enough character development, not enough relationship development, and not enough time for all that was jammed into this. Didn't work and wasn't a fan. It wasn't terrible but wasn't good either.
One of my first Kindle reads, this story goes fast. I like that Sylvia Day has taken time give one of her secondary characters her own story. Being a writer myself, I know that in the creation of any story there are sometimes elements edited out to keep a story tight and moving. I refer to this edited elements as, "Little darling." Thanks Sylvia for giving your little darling a voice.
No detailed sex in this one, which is unusual for Sylvia Day. Good story though, and I'm definitely looking forward to reading the next book. The chemistry between the 2 leads was realistic, and the characters remained true to themselves.
Trevor wished for death, being held captive by vampires, used and abused, Siobhan saved him in more ways than one, gripping story, seeing old friends, loved this book, thank you, Dana Zamora
I would like to thank Goodreads First Reads and Sylvia Day for my free copy of “A Caress of Wings” It was an oddly satisfying book about a love story between an angel and vampire. It was explicit and full of danger. It was truly a weird love story.
A CARESS OF WINGS (Renegade Angels #1.5) by Sylvia Day
A CARESS OF WINGS is an e-novella (June 2012 release) in Sylvia Day’s Renegade Angels series. Part of the series premise follows that if a Sentinel (Watcher Angel) falls in love or mates with a mortal/human their wings are removed and they become the Fallen. As a Fallen, they are now vampire, and require blood to survive. But along the way, a few of the Fallen have requested leniency and begged off from vampire status and have become ‘lycan’-infused with demon blood with the capability to shift. The lycans are currently on the run, hoping to escape servitude to the Sentinels.
A CARESS OF WINGS is a short story that follows the rescue of a human male-Trevor Descansos by Sentinel Angel Siobhan. Trevor had been held prisoner by a horde of virus-infected vampires for over a year. Tortured, sexually abused and used for his blood, Trevor begged for death. Weak and dying, all he knew was the daily pain and torment of hundreds of hungry mouths biting and clawing for his blood. But when a beautiful angel freed Trevor from his chains, he knew death had granted his wish.
Siobhan is a researcher for the Sentinels. Knowing their blood was a cure for the vampire virus proved invaluable and dangerous at the same time. If the vampires knew then every Sentinel would be targeted. Looking for a cause to the vampire virus, it was one of Siobhan’s responsibilities to investigate and test new theories surrounding the virus that was quickly overtaking the vampire hordes. But finding a dying Trevor chained to a wall pulled at her heart. Guilt ate at Siobhan for not finding Trevor sooner, but by infusing his blood with her own, Trevor would soon make a quick physical recovery. But it was his emotional mind and his memories that would cause bigger problems for the pair, when Trevor and Siobhan begin to develop a strong attraction to each other.
Siobhan knew that to fall for a human would mean to Fall as an Angel. Warning bells alarmed whenever she considered the possibility of a relationship with the sexy human male. There was only one recourse for Siobhan, if she were to save her wings, and that would be to wipe Trevor’s memory and hope that she would never encounter him again. Hope is for fools, when she must deliver a package to Angel Towers and seeing Trevor-the connection between the couple is stronger than either can resist. But Trevor has changed in the weeks since Shiobhan sent him away and now the realization of what he is will force Siobhan to make a decision she never thought would be made.
A CARESS OF WINGS is a short story. Siobhan was previously introduced in an earlier storyline and A Caress of Wings opens a premise into another potential Fallen Angel. To be honest, in the beginning I had a difficult time connecting to the pair. Perhaps it is because the Sentinels are without emotions, yet Siobhan most definitely felt something for Trevor. Trevor’s delirium was well written, but once he was back to health, his personality reminded me of a puppy lost and looking for someone with whom to play. Also, the premise of The Fallen Angels is technically lost when the current crop of storyline characters does not meet with the same fate as previous Angels who fell. Perhaps, like real life, the Sentinels have evolved and learned from their mistakes in the past. An interesting storyline, and one that I hope Sylvia continues throughout the series. Now that a number of Angels are falling for humans, there will have to be a resolution that will satisfy everyone.
This is a novella accompanying the Renegade Angels trilogy. During one of her raid on vampire nests, Siobhán rescued Trevor who has been captured by vampires for a year and used as a blood bag. While busy with her research into the vampire disease, Siobhán finds taking care of Trevor a good distraction from her work. Trevor gradually returns back to good health and apart from being grateful for Siobhán, he finds undeniable connection with her.
This is quite a short, sweet and simple story for the trilogy. Pairing up Siobhán the lab geek with Trevor the military med guy is not a surprise but makes real sense. The Sentinel were created without the ability to experience emotion or mortal love and this gives a good example of the effect it would have on them. In book 1 of the trilogy we did not get a full picture of how Adrian fell in love with Shadoe leading to his punishment. In a way, you can treat it as a supplement for Adrian’s story. What I do not like, however, is the ending. Just before the ending, we know they get together but I have to say it got a bit cheesy by then. Trevor all of a sudden becomes this cheesy and sexual animal (I understand partly could be due to his vampire condition) and I do wonder if he really deserves Siobhán who is taking a lot of risk. You did not get to find out the outcome whether they could stay together or Siobhán gets her punishment. It does however explain something mentioned in book 2 of the trilogy. My guess is that the author is laying the foundations for the last book in the trilogy. And I believe somehow Trevor has something to do with Siobhán finding the cure for the vampire virus, given his background. With Adrian’s new relationship with Lindsay as mentioned in book 1, I hope Siobhán and Trevor would have a happy ending. Let’s wait and see!!
Siobhán and Trevor This is another second read of A novella that's part of the Renegade Angels series.
A Caress of Wings is another very short novella bridging the books of the Renegade Angels series. This one answers questions I had from A Touch of Crimson.
We met Siobhán who was one of Adrian's sentinel. who was one of Adrian's sentinels. She was in charge of the lab where work was done trying to determine what was happening to fledgings. It is necessary to read A Touch of Crimson to understand the Sentinels, Vampires, Lycans, etc.
She found Trevor, a mortal, being tortured in a nest of infected vampires. As Iread and watched Siobhán develop feelings for Trevor, who was a mortal. In a part of a Touch of Crimson, Siobhán told Adrian that she had fallen in love with a vampire. Trevor wasn't a vampire, so who had she fallen in love with.
You'll have to read A Touch of Crimson and A Caress of Wings to get the answer. They're both worth reading. Even though A Caress of Wings was very good and made a good transition from A Touch of Crimson, it was still a novella. I can't rate a novella more than 3. It can't stand in its own and is developed as part of another book. There's just not enough plot or character development that you find in novels, plus you could have learned the same thing if the author has added a couple of chapters to the related book.
3.5 stars - After finishing the prolog of a Caress of Wings I had some pretty strong reservations - the human hero, Trevor, was feed on by vamps who reveled in his fear and he was also repeated raped during the year he was held captive - a tortured/sexually abused lead is not a favorite theme for me and their move to a physical relationship in the aftermath is rarely well done in romance. But I have to say that with the angelic powers of the heroine, Siobhán to mend (and hide) some of the trauma that Trevor endured, as well as answering the question as to whether the his attraction to the Siobhán was merely born out of the fact that he saw her as a saviour, the romance actually worked.
My one nit, and it isn't the one that others have mentioned - even though the story does end up with us not knowing the price that the Siobhán will have to pay for accepting that everything happens for a reason, including her forbidden feelings for Trevor. The nit was that I was a bit disappointed in Trevor's 'change', but then again there wasn't time to do something really creative with him, since this was a short story.
So, I enjoyed a Caress of Wings - Siobhán's got wings and she knows who to use them (during the love scene:) And I am looking forward to seeing whether there will be a few glimpses of this pair in Day's next book, A Hunger So Wild.
In the world of angels and fallen ones. The main reason the Fallen became that way was for falling in love with mortals. For that they lost their wings and have now become eternal vampires. There are less then 200 Sentinals, angels who watch over the Earth and protect humanity from the Fallen and their minions. Siobhan is the scientist among the Sentinals. She has been given the mission to find a cure for a zombie like disease effecting the vampires, before it spreads to a disastrous amount. During the course of this she finds Trevor, a man who was used as a buffet for the minions for a full year, locked up in a basement. She felt horror for him and personally nursed him back to health, which seemed impossible. By doing this is she sealing her fate? To have the same fate as the fallen? This was a fun quick read. I have already read both first and second installments of the Renegade Angels books so I already knew about Siobhan's war with herself on what she wants vs. what she can have. I really enjoyed seeing the more detailed version to her story to see what really happened, rather then a quick couple paragraphs about the situation.
Trevor Descansas is a former military medic who was getting ready to go to medical school until he was captured and imprisoned by a group of vampires that have kept him tied up and taken his blood for a year. He is in desperate condition with immense amounts of pain, but more than that is extremely, achingly lonely.
Then suddenly he is rescued by a group of soldiers that are other-worldly headed up by Siobhan along with her crew. She takes him back to her lab under the earth and heals his physical injuries knowing that emotionally, there is no way her efforts will cure that. However, it surprises her to realize that he has developed a love for her that despite all her efforts, proves to be real and strong.
She, as an angel and part of the group that she belongs to can't, without some sort of penalty, allow herself to accept much less return his love, but she finds him doing both. Facing the end of the novella she finds herself having to confess to her superior and hope for the best.
I recommend this to anybody who enjoyed the show Ludifer or any other story including fallen vs unfallen angels and ther other creatures those categories can result in.
This novella was pretty good. If you are invested in the Renegade Angels, this novella is a must read, because I’m pretty sure we’ll see the characters again later in the series. I am a little confused in this series, because the whole reason the Sentinels are on earth is to monitor the Watchers’ punishment, but the Sentinels keep committing the same crimes, and they get no punishment. If I were a Watcher/Fallen, I’d be pretty pissed off at this point. Also there are some inconsistencies in the world that Ms. Day does not address, but hopefully she’ll get to it in the next book. Such as, do humans loose their soul when they become vampires/minions? It seems a little conflicted on whether this is true or not.
I really like Sylvia Day, and would highly recommend her books, especially her erotic romances. Her stories are captivating, and her characters are well developed. There were actually very few sex scenes, and mostly they were skipped over, so not as detailed as some of her other novels like the Crossfire series (which I would highly recommend).
I read this novella slightly out of order, after A Hunger So Wild, but it was fine and didn't impact the story arc.
I needed another Renegade Angels kick and this fitted the bill nicely :-)
Trevor had been captured and savaged by rogue vamps. The last thing he expected was to be rescued by an angel.
"I'm dead, right?" He looked around, finding heaven to be... not what he'd expected. They were in a small, windowless room. He lay on a couch. There was a coffee table and an entertainment centre with the standard equipment. A door set off to the side appeared to lead into a bathroom, while another led... somewhere else.
Falling in love with his avenging angel, Siobhan, is unexpected.
Siobhan sat perched on a metal barstool with her hands on her knees, looking adorably serious and crazily sexy. Crazy because she was an angel, for chrissakes. He was pretty damn certain that even putting "angel" and "sex" in the same sentence was a major sin on his part.
