Born and raised in Northern Indiana, Krista now resides in Northern Lower Michigan. (apparently she wasn't getting enough snow in Indiana:)) She is married to a very supportive man, Chip, who allows her to follow her true passion of writing and never complains when she is pirated away on her computer for hours. He even helps with proof-reading and is her “in-house” editor and her idea sounding board. She is also a mother of 4 ornery children who keep her plenty busy. With an addition of 2 beautiful chocolate lab sisters and 2 playful cats, there is never a dull or spare moment in her household.

Krista has always loved to read and would often sit up for hours into the night not able to put down a book until she was finished. She still reads when she can but her main focus is creating her own stories to share with the world.

She loves to communicate with her readers so please feel free to drop her a line anytime at krista@kristaames.com or visit her at http://www.kristaames.com or http://www.apassionforromance.blogspo....

What I Loved:

I loved the premise of this story the most. It's fairly typical as far as romance story-lines go, but despite that it just sounds so very sweet and touching. Beyond the premise, I also loved the way Krista kept the story amusing, with the characters doing something new, or in some cases thinking through their thoughts, in practically every sentence.

Also, the cover art is gorgeous!
What I Didn't Like:

Clichés, clichés, clichés. I said I loved the premise, and I do, but everything from Nicholas to the sex scenes, especially including Dana's thoughts, are so cliché! This is a short story, and I get that, really I do, but it would have been wonderful to have the same story, told in the same space, with unique descriptions and content. To be fair, there is a rather original twist to the plot near the end of the book, but it just wasn't enough to make up for all the clichés throughout.
My Overall Review

(3 of 5 Stars) A Short, Quick Read

Second Chances is the perfect book to pick up on a rainy day where you just want a good story. It's a short, quick read that would guarantee you still had time to complete your litany of daily chores. This, and the premise of the story, are its strongest points. It is definitely for a mature woman, though I didn't think the sex scenes were all that steamy. Which is a bit disappointing since the character's thoughts led one to think a steamier scene was coming.

Not a bad read at all. I didn't see any glaring errors or anything like that. It just seemed to lack the "wow" factor that I was looking for.

Second Chances is a great little novella that you can read in under an hour. Dana is trying to move on from her college love that broke her heart. Unbeknownst to her, her life is about to be turned upside down. Nicholas has discovered that via several degrees of separation, he is about to be face to face with the woman that has held his heart for years. Dana has every right to be angry, never knowing why he just up and left one night. I did not feel that a single element was missing in this short story. Typically, there is something left out or missing in novella's but the author has a very well rounded story here. Heat level of a 4. I give this a 5 fang review!
