The supernatural world is rising up against the human one. The weretrappers want control, and only the immortal Dire wolves stand in the way of total destruction. Stray, a Dire, and his long-lost brother, Killian, emerge as the leaders of their pack. To keep themselves and the humans safe, the Dires need a witch as powerful as Seb, who betrayed the Dires to work for the weretrappers.
They find what they are looking for in Kate, a human who survived a horrible car accident that left her back scarred with a handprint no one else can see. Stray senses Kate's abilities as a witch and recruits her to help the Dires—all the while knowing she is so powerful they will need to kill her once she helps defeat the weretrappers.
Stray doesn't expect the powerful connection that he feels with Kate, or his irresistible need to protect her. They cannot hide their feelings or each other, and what once was taboo now seems inevitable…

When I first heard about this series, I was captivated by this concept. I think I’ve had a thing for werewolf bikers since I read Shelly Laurenston’s Magnus Pack. I found that the first book in this series had a lot of world building and background information about who the dires were and all that, so I was looking forward to this one so we could get to the really good stuff.
Except I’m not sure this book got quite to that level. It was a bit of a rollercoaster for me, of liking and stalling and getting excited about it and stalling. Maybe it was the pace of the story, or maybe the fact that I felt in a way Kate was using Stray (she even makes him her familiar…accidentally).
Stray, in and of himself, is delicious. He’s a wonderful hero with a tortured past and a lot of heartache. He’s just been reunited with his long lost brother. His true family, the Dires, are under attack and the only choice they now have lies in the hands of a witch who doesn’t know she’s a witch, doesn’t want her powers and ohh…happens to be his mate. You can’t help but love him.
Kate on the other hand I wasn’t completely sold on. She’s an okay heroine, a little feisty and at least she had a little common sense. I get that she’s lived her life not knowing how to deal with the things she does and the powers she has. I just wasn’t sold on HER connection with Stray.
There’s quite a bit of action thrown in this book and less world building, which suited me just fine. But like I said before, it felt that the pace wasn’t exactly what I wanted and after I was very into to the book (either because of smexy things happening or action of the other kind) then it would take a slope down.
This is still a great series, I just find that the concept is not quite developed to its full potential yet. But what can I say, Ms. Tyler knows how to write a sinfully hot hero! All the guys in the Dire pack are very interesting and I have to confess that I was very into the parts about Jinx. He’s really opened up a can of worms, huh? I love that he now has a vampire roommate and their interactions are hilarious. I have to read more about them.
I also enjoyed that we get some insight into Rifter and Gwen. They’re not the alpha couple that after their book, they go into hiding, coming out only to bark orders. They were involved in the story and we got to peak back into their relationship. I like how that keeps the story connected.
I can’t wait to read more about the bad boys in this series and seeing them fall.
Favorite quote:
“I want to fuck you. Mark you. Lick you until you scream, clutch the sheets, until your body is worn out from my loving you. God, I dream about tasting you, Kate. Want to spend hours between your thighs. I want to make you mine the way you’ve made me yours.”
Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:
Dire Wants is the second book of the ETERNAL WOLF CLAN series, and is action packed, deep, intriguing & stuffed with goodness!
Soooo much happens in this installment, it might be a little difficult review to write a review keeping to my 'no spoiler' policy, but I will try...
Dire Wants picks up where Dire Needs left off, with the Dire wolves and their Were allies fighting against the Were Trappers and the demon possessed witch Seb and his Were minions in a race to save the world.
Stray, the newest and youngest of the Dire pack and his estranged older brother Killian are 2 parts of a prophecy that could either save all of the wolves and humans or utterly destroy everything. Together with a powerful witch who doesn't yet know that she IS a witch, they could defeat the Dire Ghost Army that Seb has called up AND save Jinx's twin brother Rogue from the curse he's been under. The problem is that all of this takes trust on everyone's part, and after the tortured histories these wolves have, trust doesn't come easily.
Dire Wants is Stray and Kate's story, but it also delves into the disfunctional family workings of Stray and Killian, as well as Jinx and the rest of the Dire pack, not to mention the Were brothers Cyd and Cain and their relationship with the FBI agent Angus Young. It also gives some background on Seb's lost love and introduces what previously would have been a very unlikely ally.
The ETERNAL WOLF CLAN series is very deep. It's a complex world with lots of different pieces, a plethora of characters who each play their respective roles, and several smaller storylines that integrate to create the plot as a whole. With that said, while Stephanie did a great job of recapping in Dire Wants, I would strongly suggest that you read the Dire Warning eNovella and Dire Needs before you take the plunge with Dire Wants.
For the sake of a complete review, I have to mention that there are some homosexual scenes in this installment. Stephanie did a beautiful job of writing them in and I was incredibly excited to see where she took that particular sub-story. Even if you're not generally a fan of m/m romance, this is so much more than that. It's the strugglings of a somewhat forbidden relationship, regardless of sex, and I'm really looking forward to reading more as the series progresses.
LITERAL ADDICTION gives Dire Wants 4 Skulls. I'm very eager to see where this series goes next!
Review also available on my blog: http://neverkissandblog.com.au/2012/1... This is the second of Stephanie Tyler’s Eternal Wolf Clan books. Poor Stephanie seems to have trouble getting her series’ past three books. I can’t tell why because I absolutely love all her books. But I’m reviewing this with hopes to get enough people to try out her stuff so we can get a few more in this series.
For an author who started on military suspense romance, Tyler clearly knows what she’s doing when writing paranormal romance. The Dire Wolf world-building in the previous book Dire Needs, was excellent and this time we get more details on the wider world not just the main Dire Wolf pack.
Our heroine Kate is a witch. Since discovering Seb’s treachery in book one and Rogue’s capture, the clan have been looking for a powerful witch to help them fight back. Stray rescues Kate from a group of young Were boys who were all set to attack her, and later when he goes to fetch her he interrupts Leo Shimmin’s attack to take her captive. Kate at first doesn’t believe she’s a witch as her mother was a violent horrible woman who beat her for the sign of the devil which hadn’t appeared. Because of this ingrained fear of being a witch she refuses to admit it for a while, until she realises her ritual to call a familiar worked, and brought her Stray.
Stray is eaten up with fear over whether he and his brother Killian will end up fulfilling the prophecy about them and destroy the world. And with the stupid abuse his parents and clan put him through because they didn’t heed the Elders message to look after the Dire’s with abilities, who could blame him.
To be honest between the two books, you have to wonder how dumb the regular Dires are because the Elders are pretty powerful and pretty clear with their messages and yet they still ignore it.
Stray and Kate are a unique match, certainly not who I’d have picked for the other but they work together. The only downside is that the Elder pretty much told Stray no he couldn’t mate Kate and yet after the performed the ritual’s first step anyway Kate received a glyph of Stray’s wolf. So are they mated or not? Will the Elders punish them for it? Not sure, but I hope it gets cleared up more in book three. And can I say I appreciate that not a single mortal/immortal pairing has happened in this series?
Storyline wise because the main plot of the series is actually fairly separate from Stray and Kate which is nice as they play an important part, bringing in a witch to the good side, helping to wake up Rogue and getting rid of Seb, mostly. I did really like the deeper look at Seb’s state of mind and I suspect we’re getting set up for him to have some sort of redemption later down the track.
The Dires and Weres deal with the Dire Wolf Ghost Army from book one, the vampires are kind of brought into the fold and Jinx’s story is very interesting
The FBI agent Angus Young from book one is brought deeper into the supernatural world which stops him from going after Harm for the coincidental deaths. I liked that he didn’t take either the weretrappers or the Were’s story for granted. The way that he planned to play both sides was definitely ambitious, especially since he was willing to kill a presumably innocent Were to get in with the trappers. I liked the subplot between Cain and agent Young, which both intrigued and surprised me at turns and I hope to see it develop over the series.
Also the way that the pack is tight-knit yet not a buddy-buddy thing is an interesting dynamic you don’t really see a lot of in PNR these days. I will be picking up Dire Desires when I can and despite the horrible badness of this review I encourage you to do the same.
4.5stars Killian makes his appearance in this sophomore installment, straining the blossoming relationship and peace his twin, Stray, is finding with his newly discovered mate, Kate. Kate doesn't yet know she is a witch. She's not just any witch but a very powerful witch that may have ties to Seb and the trappers. Adding to the growing pre-battle tensions between the Dires and the trappers, some Dire secrets are revealed, alliances shift and changes are made to and within the intrepid protector group; Seb's grip on his own demons are slipping as the trappers become more rabidly anxious to capture Kate and kill the wolves. I loved the multi-layered relationship of Stray and Kate. Unfortunately I never warmed to Kate. I didn't dislike her, I was just indifferent toward her. For me, she was a bland character although she was critical to this storyline. Stray came out of his shell with a vengeance pushing a lot of information for this read and future series entries. I hope Killian sticks around, and his love/hate relationship with both himself and Stray added layers to every conversation Killian was involved in. Other highlights for in me this read were both Cain and Jinx's threads as they expanded the characters, the locations and gave insight to the Dires interaction with both human and other supernatural groups. I also enjoyed the action set piece. This complex series should be read in order as the Dires challenge impossible and overwhelming odds to work in their favor without telegraphing or oversimplifying and disproving their own lore. I'm very anxious to continue this series, the more I read of it, the more I want to read.
I absolutely love this series! These wolves are HAWT and sexy as hell (just check out this cover). Yummy! I really liked Stray in the first book and think he's a complicated guy who just needed a good woman which he gets with Kate. I really liked Kate too. She's had it rough but comes into her own with Stray's gentle persuasion.
I like this spin on werewolves. It's fresh and new and exciting. You have Dire wolves (huge immortal werewolves) and plain old werewolves (called Weres). These are the good guys. The bad guys are called weretrappers and consist of humans and bad Weres who trap (hence the name) and kill wolves for no apparent reason. They just hate wolves! In an effort to rule the world, the weretrappers have teamed up with Seb, a bad witch who has been possessed by a demon. Seb in turn, is building a ghost army by bringing long dead Dire wolves back to "life" and attacking the Dire wolves. Their only hope is Kate and her witch powers.
I thought this book was terribly exciting and fast paced from page one all the way to the end. And what an end. I can't wait to read Jinx' story hopefully closely followed by Rogue's.
I really enjoyed this second installment of the Eternal Wolf Clan series. There are a lot of characters, and a lot of POVs, but I think that's part of what makes the story so interesting. Ms. Tyler throws in some twists that I didn't see coming and I'm excited to see how the series continues to evolve. I love the interaction between the character, and I'm super excited to read Jinx's story.
This book was a make or break book for me in this series. I thought the first book was so so, it was hard to get through. So I picked this one up with trepidation. It was more of the same, a tedious read. In the end, while I really like this author, this series isn't for me.
I have been so excited about this book have been wanting this story for months now I have to wait til July 2013 for book number 3 I am so ready for more
Okay, so unfortunately, I did not finish this book, but because I read 3/4 of it, I’m going to count it as read.
I’m also not going to give it a rating because I feel bad rating people below a 3, so . . . Let’s leave it at that.
For me, there were too many plots and storylines all happening at once. I feel like we didn’t get enough of Stray and Kate; instead we got Cain and Angus, Jinx and Jez, Seb and Leo Shimmin. . . It was just all too much.
I didn’t really care about everyone else; I was here for the love story between Stray and Kate, but I feel like it wasn’t there. They were forced to be together; it was like it wasn’t a choice.
Now, if you’re a fan of Lora Leigh like I am, you learn to appreciate the whole “mating” concept. Hell, I’d rather have a mate than date a whole bunch of fools just to get my heart broken.
I love the animalistic side and the idea of having that one person out there for you. . . Gosh, it’s just amazing. Leigh keeps her stories very balanced; she has the right amount of possessiveness and animalistic qualities, all while maintains the whole human love concept. I love her because she gives us a good amount of both, so one isn’t overpowering over the other.
Now, this book wasn’t necessarily bad, but I just didn’t care about really anyone. Not even Kate or Stray.
Maybe it’s just me, but I needed a little something more.
I've had this book sitting on my nightstand for weeks now and would pick it up and then put it down, never reading more than a page or two. When I finally said ok I have to read this book, I was completely sucked into the world of Dire's and Were's. I couldn’t read it fast enough and when I was finished I wanted more. More of the story, more of the characters, more of every part of this incredible world Stephanie Tyler has created.
Stray and Kate are perfect for each other. They both come from really bad childhoods, even though Stray is still considered a teenager in comparison to the other Dire's, and have a connection to each other. When they meet for the first time, they connect on an elemental level and then everything goes awry.
Because of the coming battle, Stray and Kate, have to learn to not only trust each other but also trust themselves. And not just themselves but also their abilities, and how they can help save the world. Kate because of how she was raised and Stray because of what was done to him as a child neither one of them have a lot of faith in much of anything, especially Kate. She lives in a world of fear and doesn't know how to shake it.
As Stray and Kate realize and accept who they are, they become whole for the first time. Kate and she understands why she was made a witch and Stray as he understands the truth about the sacrifice his brother made for him all those years ago. With these truth's their able to let down their walls and let each other in, making them even stronger.
One of the many things I liked about this book was how it doesn't take place over a week or a couple of days, and that there are multiple pov's, and secondary story lines, ones that I hope continue in the next book. The cast of characters in this series is relatively small and each of them have a huge personalities making you want to know them all immediately.
At the end of the book is an excerpt from the next book and I have to say that I'm anxiously awaiting the next installment of this Shifter series, that just might be my second favorite shifter series being written.
Dire Wants, Eternal Wolf Clan #2, by Stephanie Tyler Grade: D
“I think I’m in love with her. I know I’m her familiar. There’s a different feel to the two things.”
Kate Walters always knew she was different growing up and her mother tried over and over again to put a stop to it right up until her death. Katie was in the car with her parents the day they died and she should would have perished with them if someone hadn’t drag her out of the car. The person who rescued her left her with more power than she had before and a handprint on her back, that only she can see, which guides her through life. One night Katie’s world is turned upside down and a man named Stray is there to protect and guide her into the new world she discovers.
Stray is a Dire Wolf, a supernatural who can shift to a wolf, has special abilities and is immortal. Stray is part of a small pack in the U.S. and has kept his former clan in Greenland a secret from his brothers. Stray and his older brother Killian have been part of a prophecy their entire lives and have tried to stay apart to make sure it doesn’t come true. When Stray rescues Katie he immediately recognizes that she is a witch and he is her familiar. Stray feels a pull towards Katie that is usually only for mates and he will protect the powerful witch even if it means going up against other Dires.
I wanted to love this book, heck I would have been happy with just liking it but unfortunately neither of those options happened. There is a lot going on in Dire Wants and personally it was too much. Every single character gets to have a POV and there are so many storylines and subplots that it can get confusing and sometimes boring. I wanted to like Stray and Katie but I never felt that I had the chance and every time I started to get into their story it switched to someone else and the momentum was gone.
As I mentioned I wanted to like Stray and Katie but it took forever for anything to happen between them and I got annoyed with how Stray was so hot and cold with her. Katie only learns she’s a witch after Stray informs her of it but he and the other Dires hold it against her for the better half of the book. These two also pick some very weird times to act on their feelings for one another and it took even longer for Stray to admit his feelings for Katie even though he shares them with everyone else.
There is so much going on in this book that I felt like keeping a list of my own going just to keep everything straight. I understand plot lines need to be set up for future books but this was excessive and then add in all the POVs and I was too overwhelmed to enjoy the book. I am a huge fan of shifter books but this one fell flat and I almost DNFed it a couple of times.
I recommend starting this series from the beginning because there is way too much going on for someone to just jump right in and not be confused. I personally won’t be continuing on with this series, even though I would like to read about the woman who snags Vice. I was very disappointed with this book overall.
"Dire Wants" by Stephanie Tyler. Book 2 in the Eternal Wolf Clan Trilogy.
I liked this book. It's a very good addition to the trilogy. You really have to read the first book "Dire Needs" to understand what is going on in this book. The main trilogy storyline continues and a lot of the subplots are continued as well. The main characters in this book are Stray and Kate. Stray is one of the Dire wolves that was introduced in the first book. Kate is a new character who is witch.
Stray hates anything to do with witches but when he meets Kate, he is drawn to her like no other woman before. He can't trust his feelings for her because he thinks she may have put a spell on him, creating a false bond of witch and familiar. But regardless of his attraction to her, the Dire wolves need her help. The witch Seb, has been magically keeping their brother Dire Rogue in a coma for the last six months and he's raised an army of ghost Dire.
At the same time, the Dire wolves, along with Liam, King of all the Weres, are dealing with a rebellion. A group of Weres are going rogue and teaming with the weretrappers to try and take over the human world. The Dire need more help so Stray contacts his brother Killian. He and Kill have powers that are much stronger when they are together. Stray can read people's minds and Kill can influence minds. Together they are unstoppable. Can Stray really trust his brother after not seeing him for almost 50 years?
That's basically the overall storyplot for this book. There are also a few subplots involving some of the secondary characters which are not resolved at the end of this book. The romantic plotline between Stray and Kate was very well done with a lot of emotional issues from their past effecting their relationship. Seeing them come together to resolve their issues and become a couple was really well done.
The reason I gave this book 3 stars instead of 4 was because of the few inconsistancies that I found throughout the book. Not in the storyline but just in some of the scenes. For example, in one sentence, it clearly states Kate is in front of Stray naked...and two sentences later he's taking her shirt off. It throws me off a little when I read something and have to stop and think "wait what?" while I'm reading. The language used is also quite simple with not a lot of detail as to the action that's happening.
Other than that, the story flowed well. All the characters are very interesting and likeable. I found myself wanting to know more about the other characters as well as the main ones. But since I know this is a trilogy and not everyone is going to get a story, I'm hoping that some of the secondary subplots will be resolved in the third book and more characters get a happily ever after.
Needless to say, I will definitely be reading the last book of this trilogy, "Dire Desires" because...yes...I bought all three books at once and I never not finish a series! LOL! And I have to find out what happen to Jinx and his storyline!
Dire Wants is the second story in Ms. Tyler’s wolf-shifter series, The Eternal Wolf Clan. The overall story centers around the Dire Wolves, a small group of immortal wolf-shifters, each with special abilities, that are burdened with protecting the earth and humans from the evil paranormals, such as witches and demons. They differ from regular weres in that they cannot be killed, are stronger and more violent-natured, and are governed by a mythical god-like group known as the Elders. This story picks up immediately after the first book, Dire Needs.
Much like its predecessor Dire Needs, Dire Wants is full of information about the overall mythology, coupled with several characters and subplots. The first few chapters felt a bit like an information dump. The names and characters were a bit much to follow at times, but I was able to manage my way through. In the scenes that focused on interactions between the Dire brothers, the dialogue felt insincere, strained, choppy and rough. The scenes and locations shifted often, adding to confusion and the incohesive feel. However, once the story moved back to Kate and focused less on backstory, it smoothed out.
Overall, even with the ups and downs, I enjoyed the mythology created by Ms. Tyler in her Eternal Wolf Clan series. I liked the connection between Stray and Kate, and the fact that he is her "familiar" helped emphasize the "fated pair" idea. Although I was on the fence about having so much wrapped up after only two books, I look forward to seeing what happens next, especially from the weres and Angus and Cain. The book has some good storylines, but sometimes there was just too much going on and the choppiness made it hard to follow. In the end, although it took a while to get into, the second half of Dire Wants went more smoothly, and I’m definitely in for another round.
In Dire Wants, Stephanie Tyler has written a fast moving, entertaining story in the paranormal romance genre. I received the book in a recent giveaway, and the author is new to me. I found the book very readable. It has just enough of a twist on the usual paranormal formula to be interesting. In just the first few pages, it got my attention and kept it. I have not read the earlier books in the series, but Tyler provides adequate background to catch onto the series premise, without overdoing it. So most likely, followers of the series will not be irritated by repetition.
The book has a largish cast of characters with complex relationships, but easily keeps focus on the romance between the main two characters; Stray and Kate. While there is plenty of other story development, the sex scenes in the story are more erotic than I prefer, but they are kept fairly short. The sex is still the main reason I gave the book three stars, not four. Be forewarned that there is a very minor sideline homosexual romance. It is so minor, in fact, that its purpose can only be to fit in with the media's craze to normalize homosexuality. While it did not stop me from finishing the book, it does make me glad I did not purchase it. But I understand many readers will not be put off by that, and in most respects, I did like the story.
Kate is a young woman with a troubled past. She doesn't understand why her mother hated her so much. She has abilities that make it hard for her to relate to other people, and she has had to struggle to keep people from thinking she is crazy. She meets Stray at a moment when she needs protection. He turns out to be a Dire wolf, an immortal werewolf with the abilities of his own. He is also her familiar. So they have to figure out if what they feel for each other is the result of magic or if it's real. And they also have to figure out how to save the world from bad-guys with a demon lead army of ghosts.
This is the second installment in Ms Tyler's Eternal Wolf Clan series. This one was even better than the first in the series. This has to be one of the best new werewolf series I have read in a very long time. Ms Tyler puts a new spin on the werewolf story. You have the Dire Wolfs who are immortal and different gifts. The human hunters who want to rule the world by using witches and demon possed werewolfs and humans. The only thing standing between them is the Dire Wolf pack and some werewolf clans. Can't wait for the next installment to come out which will be Jinx's story, Dire Desires which will be out in July 2013. Kate Walters is different, she always has been. When she was thirteen she was in a car accident that killed her parents and should have killed her. She was pulled from the burning car by a strange woman. She healed Kate but left her with a handprint on the small of her back that no one but her can see. She also started exhibiting more strange abilitys. She now does freelance work for the police department as a sketch artist. Kate dosen't know what she is or how to control her abilities. She never dreamed that there were withces or werewolfs until she is thrown into the middle of the war between the hunters and dire wolfs. Stray is the newest and the youngest of the Dire Wolf pack. When Stray finds Kate, even though she is a witch, he finds himself drawn to. When he touches the mark on her back there is an instant connection between them. He must keep Kate safe and try to help her get ahold of her powers. Stray has never liked nor trusted witches, that is until Kate came along. Not only him but his wolf is drawn to Kate. His wolf wants to mark her and make her their mate.
Kate suffered a traumatic car accident that killed her mother and left her permanently scarred. It's also left her with strange powers, powers that she's managed to keep a secret - or so she thought.
Stray is a dire wolf who has lived a thousand years thinking his brother attempted to kill him Stray himself struggling to find his place in the pack. When he catches wind of a very strong witch, a woman who could help his pack, he seeks her out. He finds a woman who is unsure of her strength and in very great danger of letting the enemy get control of her and her abilities.
Kate inadvertently calls to Stray as her familiar and Stray's wolf answers, linking the pair. Now Kate must learned to control her powers and come to terms with her feelings toward the warrior whom she is bonded to.
I've got to say, this was one of the worst books I've read in a while. I'm not joking when I saw that this book was extremely difficult to read. Not just because it was boring and repetitive, but the writing style was horribly disjointed and at times, I didn't think this author was able to speak and write in English. It was awful. Not one character managed to stand out as interesting or memberable, and I found Stray and Kate both to be dull and lifeless. It wasn't even a love story and Stray and Kate weren't always the focus of the story.
This booked makes me very very, hesitant to read the next in the series.
Ok, so for some reason i was hesitating to read this one. But i loved it once i started :)
I love the twists and turns in this series and i enjoyed hearing all Strays hidden secrets. I liked that he could be caring but an ass at the same time, to me this made it more real as his attitude seemed to match his emotions.
I also liked Kate but sort of wish she had a bit more attitude, if a witch had shoved her powers off on me i would be mad as well as being kept out of the loop and pretty much kept a prisoner for the use of her magic. It was okay though as i could understand that she went with her gut and trusted the right side of the war.
Between Kate and Stray, they had so much secrets kept throughout there life that i was glad when it was finally out in the open so they could actually love each other as they deserved. Also by looking out for each other they were able to find out about past things that were not as they seemed.
I also liked that they managed to find a loophole in this mating thing too !!
Now i also loved that more supernatural's were thrown into this one, for me it added to the danger they were all in. We got to learn about more bad guys and that everything is not as it seems. I cant wait to read the next one to see what happens next.
Dire Wants, the 2nd book in the Eternal wolf clan series; Stray a younger dire as compared to Rifter, a newly mated King, Vice and Jinx. It was an interesting introduction of Kate, with her seemingly tortured childhood to her being left unharmed from an accident in which her parents had died from the accident. I loved a different writing style as compared to the first book which seemed more convincing. However, I do not felt the connection between Kate and Stray at first but I’m glad that it made me changed my opinion and I was secretly rooting for them to be mated rather than being a “Witch” and her familiar.
Killian stole the limelight for me, with his seemingly heck-care attitude as compared to Stray. I liked how as a reader, one would assume that Killian, the bad boy is actually a lovable guy who actually was misunderstood but whatever he did was in accordance in protecting, Stray / Steele. Though with the introduction of Stray’s original name, the author did a good job in making me prefer his replaced name, Stray which reflects his character. Glad that in this book, there was an additional chapter which features the rest of the dires and even a Vampire.
Overall, this book did not disappoint and I’ll definitely be reading the next book from the series.
Man...this book was hard to finish and I am SHOCKED by this! I loved the 1st book of this series SO much and couldn't wait for this installment to come out this fall. What a disappointment! There were numerous typos and I was lost so many times while reading it I lost count. I am still confused over some of what happened or didn't happen in this book. I pretty much forced myself to finish it hoping that it would improve, but it never did. I will read the next book coming out next year though. I hope that it is more like the 1st book. This had some fine sex scenes in it and the overall story idea was very interesting, but the delivery and execution of said story was really really rough to read. Characters behaved in odd, unexpected ways that didn't make sense. Plot points were not fully explained and left you flipping back and rereading thinking you had missed something but that something was just not there. Very very disappointing. If I didn't know better, I would think that a computer program was used to write this. It definitely would surprise me to know that it was written by the same person that wrote the 1st book.
I love Stephanie Tyler. Her books are well written with interesting characters and stories. Having said that, there is a lot going on in this series and it can be a little difficult to keep all the details straight. I thought she did a great job in this one bringing you up to speed without repeating needless information and adding the glossary was a big help. As an aside, there is a homosexual element to this series that may or may not appeal. If you have an open mind about romance and the world in general, then read on. This is but one small part of the series, but for some people it may be too big to get past, so I mention it. Because Tyler writes so well, this may be an opportunity for readers to see people as just people, the same feelings and fears no matter their make up. Again, this is not a big part of the series, but because it is not a typical side story in a mainstream romance, I am adding it to my review. All in all, it is a great story and series. Can't wait for the next one!
There is a LOT going on in this book. This is the second book in the Eternal Wolf Clan series (there's also a prequel novella), and, while I wasn't lost without having read the first book, I think the first book probably sets up the series and should be read before this one. I was surprised by how much was going on in this world and the numerous different character storylines. I liked that, but I felt that the romance between the hero (Stray) and heroine (Kate) suffered a bit because of it. In fact, I was pretty much not interested in Kate's story at all. I found the interaction between the male characters much more interesting, and their stories really drew me in. If I had been more interested in Kate and Stray's romance, I would probably rate this a 4; as it is, I think it's closer to a 3.
I'll definitely be catching up on the first book in the series, and I am interested in the next book, mainly because I liked the male characters so much.
Wow. I liked Dire Wants even more than I liked Dire Needs, the first book in Stephanie Tyler's Eternal Wolf Clan series. And look at that cover. Holy frakkin hotness, Batman! Want. Some. Of. That. *fans self*
The world building is fantabulous and the character development has me seriously sucked in. Dire Wants was action packed, dark, gritty, super smexy, and it opened up a lot of potential for the series. These Dire wolves are a pack of alphas and beyond frakkin hot. I can't get enough of them and can't wait to read Dire Desires! I give Dire Wants 4.5 stars.
This series seems to really drag on. I mean how long did it take Kate to finally truly accept who she was? The end was great but the first 75 - 80% was confusing and um.... A nice way to say this anyone? Well it was boring.
What I liked: Killian and Stray! I love family bonding and especially brother bonding. Rogue. He's very intriguing so far. The fact that they're Direwolves
I read the excerpt for Dire Desires and I'm truly hoping that it progresses better than 1 + 2. They all start good then go down hill from there. So please be knock my socks off amazing. I do see potential so I don't want to let this series go just yet.
Dire Wants is the second book in the Eternal Wolf Clan Series by Stephanie Tyler. I did not read the first book and I did not feel like I was missing any pieces of the story. This is a fast paced book with a lot of information to take in. I liked all the different characters and all the unique personalities of the Dire Wolves. I loved the instant connection between Stray and Kate as well as the chemistry between Rifter and Gwen. There are unexpected twists and surprises throughout the book. This is book is action packed and you won’t be able to put it down. I can’t wait to read the other books in this series.
