Completely revised and updated, the Third Edition offers a student-friendly approach to muscle assessment, presenting the principles and methodology of assessing both joint range of motion (ROM)/goniometry and manual muscle strength for the head, neck, trunk, and extremities. Each chapter is devoted to a separate anatomical region and provides knowledge of pertinent surface anatomy and deep anatomy. Excellent photography and illustrations enhance comprehension of techniques and serve as a self-learning tool.
I wasn't a huge fan of the binding (why are text books ever printed with a spiral binding?!?!) and the book was organized in an awkward way. While the normative values were established in a table, they were never included with the measurement. The pictures for the goniometer measurements were fine but sparse and I never used the manual muscle tests from this book because the Kendall text I was required to use had better pictures and descriptions. In short - STOP SPIRAL BINDING!! It's a nightmare!
It tells you want you need to know; I would have liked it a lot better if there would have been some examples or asides about why you would actually be doing these assessments (and thus why I should care about them) but that could also be chalked up to the class I took.
