In the nonstop action that is Tor Bakers new world, you’d think everyone would recognize that there’s simply no time for a break. What with Larval assassins trying to kill him, stopping a civil war and now a new attack from Austra just to round things out. But the Royal family and the Council of Counts doesn’t see it that way. After a few little traumatic and hectic events, they all agree that what Tor really needs is to relax and have some fun. But, as always, someone else seems to have a different plan for him. A very different plan indeed.
P.S. Power works in fiction, mainly focusing on Fantasy, Science Fiction and Horror genres, with brief forays into other things just to keep life interesting. He averages 1 to 2 books monthly and has several series going. He lives in an isolated cabin in the middle of nowhere, as a recluse, yet still manages to find time to talk to people online, in a positive and delightful manner. Not one of those creepy hermit types though, you understand. It's more of an isolated farm style thing. Or ranch really. He's also interested in three dimensional photography, and long moonlit walks on the beach, sometimes with vampires. When he can find time he also does writing and voice work for scripted online programs. Anyway, feel free to drop him a line. Or visit his forum: http://pspowerbooks.com/phpBBF/index.php
In chatting with Dale over the past few weeks, it was decided that he was interested in blogging to you, his readers. The blog he had within the main site was not going to be a viable solution and there were thoughts of just creating a Forum where only he could post and everyone else could reply. This MOD is a nice meeting of the two for what will hopefully be a highly successful blog!
Hoping this first (and only) post by me will kick off a nice method of interaction with Dale's readers!

Now that I have an understanding of what the world is about (due to my looking ahead and reading spoilers) I am enjoying this series again. There was a point in the last book that I hated so much I quit reading for a while. While Tor still gets treated bad from time to time, there isn't that dominating aura of depression coming off of him. He is happy, well at least as happy as I think he can ever be. I don't even think it is possible for him to be truly happy, but at least I don't feel the despair that I mentioned earlier. He is having sex with multiple women and he is coming to terms with everyone having sex with everyone else. There doesn't seem to be any malicious intent when everyone is sleeping with other people. Tor overused his power in this one early on and had to scale back a little and take a break or risk permanent damage. This means no new inventions in this one, but that allowed more of the story to come through. We find out more about the ancients and how the world works. I figure as long as I don't try to put myself in Tor's place anymore, I should be able to sit back and enjoy the rest of the series. Special thanks to my friend Paps for talking me into continuing this series and getting me through that rough patch I had in the last book.
Starting to pick up and we learn how things are in another part of the world. We learn more of the Ancients, that this world is our world in a not so nice future. Things move along and we really start learning why our hero takes so much crap. Where the ancients were from and what they are for. We also get into a side investigation that has more to do with the overall story than we know.
I rated this higher because we really start getting the overall picture with things in this book. The reasons for things start to appear and it is not always happy but it is fitting. I have been starting to pester family and friends that they should read these books so I can at least have somebody to talk with about the stories.
These books are well written, and I was SO hoping the next in the series was out. Very addictive page turners, made me forget about the rest of the world for hours on end because I didn't want to set it down. Tor is a builder, he's also an Ancient but only in his late teens. A builder is like a magician, he builds things with the magic of his mind. And then he gives it all away..... what a treat his personality is! P.S. Power, well done!
I am still loveing this series, even when events play in a way not to my liking. You would think that by know the Royals would have learn to trust more in giving Tor information but alas they still need to find some reason to omit info from him when he is the catalitic piece of all. There is more info about the Ancient and the explanation of the little bits of extra info we have been giving as well as the shaping of his future family interations. So far a great series to follow.
Powers knows how to suck you in then keep you wanting more. I really enjoyed Tor actually learning about himself and what he is really capable of from Burks. Nice to finally make sense of how stupid he has acted from time it time in past books. He grew a lot more in this book and I'm going to need to download the next one now!!!
The story, as well as characteristics of characters, is quite enjoyable. However, I felt there was an awful lot of emphasis placed upon sexuality and sexual practice. imho this is not essential to create an awesome tale. Although I'm quite sure many would disagree.
after two bad engagement, so many friends with benefit/lover, finally Tor got married. with 14 years old. even then he must annul that wedding....I pity your fate Tor.
The series has headed down hill for me. I ended up getting frustrated with the move away from interesting story and the constant focus on the boff-fest.
This series is so entertaining. Tor is an incredible character and you can't help to be in awe of what he can achieve. I am looking forward to continue the series.
This is the fourth book in the series, and I kept reading hoping that it would get better. The world is interesting, and I like the magic system. However, the grammar mistakes kept throwing me out of the reading experience. There, their, and they're are not all the same words. Neither are were, we're, and where. Please learn the difference, because I think you could have a very good thing going here.
the storyline is good as the other books, but too much "sex interplay etc." was put into this book, I got thru 58% and lost interest and moved on. I will not be finishing the series as this book. I felt that this was put into the book to sell, the storyline itself was doing that on it's own. I got bored.
