Puppy flees from the garden after Emma and Abby shoo him away during teatime. But when playtime rolls around and Puppy is nowhere to be found, the princesses become worried. They search frantically looking all over the castle. Upon hearing Puppy's helpless bark from the dark, dingy basement, Abby must confront her fear of the dark by trusting God and asking for courage to rescue her beloved furry friend.

The book features the girl praying to Jesus. I'm totally fine with that except I wish the book had made it more clear that this was supposed to be a Christian book... I didn't realize I can read books featured explicit religious wording... which could become problematic in schools and other places.
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." - Deuteronomy 31:6
Christ wants us to bring everything to him in prayer. In this early reader, Princesses Emma and Abby learn to cast their worry and fears onto Jesus. Praying for help when they need it and stopping to listen.
*Thanks to Zondervan for providing a copy for review.*
The religious aspect seemed a little forced. I understand that it's published by Zondervan, a Christian publisher, and the God-aspect is part of the point of the series, but I think it could have been executed better.
Note: I received a paperback copy of this book from the publisher at ALA Midwinter 2016.
