Finally got closure on this story after 10 years! Crazy! It was really fun to see another increased stake for Emma/Allegra with this fashion show opportunity and it was nice having her struggle with the vision a little more in this plot line… felt more authentic.
Unsurprisingly, the story felt very immature and fast, but hey, it’s marketed for 9-12 so that is probably a plus for most readers.
If I got to be picky, I wish we got to see more of the construction of the pieces as well as the aftermath of the event. I’m also desperate to know is any of Emma’s “friends” connected the pieces with Emma’s sketches/dyed fabrics to the show… it felt like we were leading up to a reveal but nada. Oh! And (spoilers) the use of the superhero doodle for her fashion headshot? That’s actually so out of pocket. Definitely something a 14 year old would think was cool, but I can’t believe Paige cleared it (and doesn’t this basically confirm she’s letting Jackson in on the secret? Dying to know how that goes).
Oh well. I guess this is where we leave Emma. I’m glad I finally got to finish this trilogy and it was genuinely a lot of fun to dive back into the pre-teen Kenz mindset for a few. Time for some contemporary lit lol.
