In the fourth novel in Allison Hobbs’s bestselling Double Dippin’ saga, Misty’s life hangs in the balance as Brick goes after her attackers, but is it vengeance or justice? After a brutal attack, Misty is barely clinging to life and no one expects her to recover. Thomasina is inconsolable, and she holds Brick responsible for her daughter’s condition. Deeming himself the judge, jury, and the executor, Brick is on a single-minded vengeance quest to dispense justice to Misty’s assailant. A killing machine with nothing to lose, Brick’s deadly rampage takes him from Philadelphia to Miami and Los Angeles, where he uses his good looks, sculpted body, and sensuality to gain behind-the-scenes entry into the lavish lifestyle of the rich and famous. Leaving a trail of bloodshed, carnage, and emotionally scarred women in his wake, Brick uses any means necessary to uncover the perpetrator’s identity.
Misty has been brutally attacked and she is literally hanging on to life. Thomasina, Misty's mother, and Baron 'aka" Brick, Misty's ex and now step-father, decide to take Misty out of the hospital and bring her home with them to care for. In the meantime Brick cannot stand seeing his former love in so much pain. When Misty asks him to do her a favor, he will have to make a decision that can potentially be life altering.
Brick decides to go after whoever is responsible for Misty's attack and he is determined to exact revenge. In his search he comes across a young woman by the name of Anya and decides to offer her a place to stay. Anya tells Brick that she is in search of her long lost father and the story quickly shifts into that search. Anya is so taken by Brick's take charge and helpful ways she begins to develop feelings for him. Brick lets her know up front that he already has someone that has his heart, so no one will ever be able to take her place. So just enjoy the time they do have with each other, because there will be nothing more.
“Brick” by Allison Hobbs is the 4th installment in the Double Dippin' saga. After reading “Brick,” I had to take a second look at the synopsis and realized that it had nothing to do with what I had just read. Misty was hardly even mentioned in the first 160 pages and Brick had still not even attempted to go on any "rampage" or a "trial of bloodshed and carnage." (Quoted from the synopsis.) There was a lot of sex that really did not fit into the storyline. The character Anya kept mentioning her ‘inheritance,’ making the reader wonder the reason she was even receiving an inheritance until page 226. I have been a huge fan of Ms. Hobbs since her first novel “Pandora's Box.” Unfortunately, this just so happened to be the only one thus far that disappointed me. Instead of reading like a sequel, it read like a completely new storyline and seemed to mainly center on new characters.
Once again Allison has done her thing!!!!! She NEVER disappoints. I love how she reals you in and captivates you. Allison has a vivid imagination and as you read this book (any of her books to be honest) you are right there. She'll have you moaning and groaning! She'll have you mad and fired up!! She'll have you with a box of tissue. Every emotion you can imagine you will feel it!
You can relate to these characters - their struggles, pains, highs, lows, etc. There are ones you want to hug and take their pain away and ones you want to slap the taste out of their mouth! One thing I love is her ability to have me thinking one thing and surprise surprise I always find myself saying - Dang! I did not see that coming!
If you haven't read this book, put it on your must have list! Heck if you haven't read any of her books GET THEM! She is worth every single penny! LOVE YOU ALLISON! KEEP UP THE WONDERFUL FANTASTIC EXCELLENT WORK!!!!!
Compared to the first 3 books I wasn't impressed with this one. It seemed to get old fast and the plot was rather boring without the twists and the turns. It seemed the emphasis was more on the sex rather than the plot itself. It sort of went together but it could have been meatier and more complex. Hopefully the last book, Misty, will be back to the regular style of writing that held some suspense.
Brick's volume is probably the best of the series thus far. This character is the only one that you root for. The one that truly deserves some happiness. The reat of them can kick rocks!
“Brick” by Allison Hobbs is the 4th book in the Double Dippin’ series. I have been waiting on pins and needles for this latest installment and I can honestly say I was not disappointed! “Brick” picks up immediately after the events of “Lipstick Hustla” with Misty still in the hospital and Brick vowing revenge on the person who has left her clinging to life. I don’t want to say too much, but just know that this is classic Allison Hobbs material! “Brick” introduces us to a few new characters including Anya(and let me tell you, Brick and Anya are a force to be reckoned with!) as well as a few old faces. The storyline was well paced and action paced. It wouldn’t be Allison Hobbs if it didn’t get a little raunchy here and there of course. Overall, I loved it and my fingers are crossed for another installment! 5 stars!
This book is not bad. The author is a good writer. It took to long to get to the climax and once it got there it seemed a bit rushed to me. For instance, Anya exacts her revenge on Kaymar then we jump right into Brick and him exacting his revenge. It seemed to easy for Brick and Anya to locate Misty' s attackers. Then in the end it was a little to sloppy for me. Throughout the book Brick is torn up over his marriage and about how he didn't regret marrying Thomisina then turns around and tells Misty he never stopped loving her that he tried to get over but can't. I wasn't feeling that. It just didn't vibe for me.
Now you know I can't wait for the next book in this series. Brick is just so scrumptious (had to say it). He and Misty have been through so much, though they had a twisted relationship. But that's how some people are. Brick had a vendetta to settle, but it just so happens that he meets an unexpected accomplice along the way. Allison Hobbs always loves to throw those curve balls to keep the reader hanging on until the last page.
What a great writer Allison Hobbs is! I loved the entire "Double Dippin" series, but in Brick, there is a character called "Munch' who I would marry today if he were a real person! Allisons books are not and spicy, but with unforgettable twists, turns and plots. I have read (almost) every thing she has written and look forward to everything she writes! Such a talented writer!

I completed reading Brick and I wasn't disappointed. Kaymar got what he deserved for killing Anya's mother. Brick and Misty will be happy in the ever after. He confessed his love for Misty and was overheard by Thomasina his wife.
Great book of revenge! Brick & new found friend Anya team up & get revenge on those who caused havoc on their loved ones lives. Great ending leading up to the return of Misty!
