I give this a 3.5 rating. It is the 50th installment in Webb’s Colby Agency series and the final book in Colby Agency Texas series.
This book was Olivia’s story. She s determined to find out the truth of what happened in their home 22 years ago. She is the oldest of the Barker children and she wants answers. She is a paralegal and has asked for a stay of execution until she can find out if her father truly is the monster she believes him to be. While attempting to investigate she meets her bodyguard from Colby Agency, Russ St. James. He is a former cop now turned private investigator. He has been protecting her for months and now they are working as partners to determine if her father and father are truly guilty.

This is not a read alone. Fortunately I read 48 and 49 which helped. But I guess I should have read all 47 other books in the series.
This one book I felt that the characters got to close to soon. I know they went through a lot but being friends and lovers is different from marriage. She went through so much in the last two weeks that her feelings should not have been trusted.

The plot strand for this series of novels is well done. There are parts that could have been better developed though. Russ and Olivia didn't interact enough with each other; the conclusion was very quick and manipulated, not very believable either. This was a predictable novel, but it did provide good escape. The author did not deal with the emotional baggage Olivia was carrying either.

Very good book and conclusion to the trilogy. Olivia was the oldest of the three girls, and as such was likely to remember more than the other two. Those memories seem to be buried very deep. Russ had been assigned by the Colby Agency to guard Olivia. He knew when she went to the prison to see her father, and when she started investigating what had really happened so many years ago. Her mother had been released from prison and was in the company of her half brother. Russ was trying to protect Olivia, and it was getting more difficult. The closer Olivia got to remembering things, the more things were happening. Her car exploded, her hotel room burned, people she talked to were attacked. As she and Russ spent more time together, their attraction grew stronger. She also came to appreciate his protectiveness, and he enjoyed her determination. When the final confrontation came, it was good to get the full story of what had happened. I also loved seeing the three sisters together, and with their men. I look forward to more Colby stories.

A very satisfying conclusion to a Colby Agency trilogy. All three young women in the trilogy meet each other. The real killer of 20 years ago is verified. The real killer of the last few weeks is discovered.

I believe that I will be reading more books by Debra Webb. She has written 50 in the Colby Agency series. They are pretty good for a relaxing, relatively quick read.

I really enjoyed it

I really enjoyed this story and I loved the guide that brought me up to date on some of the stories I missed. Now I want to go back and read them also.
