When an author makes you fall in love with the hero and/or heroine, that is expected. When the author makes you fall in love with the secondary characters, ditto. But when the reader begins to fall in love with the setting, the town, the churches, the shops, that is when you know you have been given the gift of a truly wonderful community romance. A Family to Cherish by Ruth Logan Herne continues the Men of Allegany County series in fine form with emotional drama, humor and romance.
Meredith Brennan wants to start her life over in a place she ran from years ago. The man she ran from, Cam Calhoun, is still in her hometown but has become a widower with two daughters secretly longing for a woman's touch in their lives. Herne's deft touch with the hurts and challenges facing this couple makes this book another one to be savored for its realism and HEA!

This is a good story with many twists and turns that keeps you reading. This is one of my favorite author's. Her stories are real enough to make you feel the characters emotions.

Deserves a Rating of Ten
Ruth Logan Herne writes the most wonderful love stories and “A Family to Cherish” is no exception! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would give it a rating of 10 if I could! Readers of Christian romance will not be disappointed!

"A Family to Cherish" by Ruth Logan Herne
Men of small town Allegany County find their soul mates....
One of these is Cam Calhoun a widower with two adorable girls that he dotes on. Cam works as a teacher at the local high school and also does work refurbishing homes at which he is noted to be the best in the area.
Cam Calhoun and Meredith Brennan had a past caring for one another in high school before she left town abruptly and now 14 yrs later she is back.
Meredith affectionately known as "Mere" is single and has a secret that she does not want anyone in her hometown to know--you can't live 14 years without some things happening that you might not be so proud of and this was one thing that Mere was definately not proud of.
Watching this story unfold with Cam and Mere refinding a closeness that they both had promised themselves "would not happen". Two little girls wrap Mere in a feeling that she has not known before, they need a mom and cannot remember much of theirs that died when they were so small. Daddy protects them and loves them but he doesn't have the "women's touch" needed sometimes.
Meredith comes back to her hometown wanting to establish a business in an old Senator's mansion that needs some work before opening and thus Cam is her man for the job. She plans a Wellness Spa that will as she says "Feed the soul" as well as the body of the women in town.
Cam has deep guilty feelings because his wife died years earlier of Pneumonia and he feels his indifference to her health and not caring enough killed her.
Through this story we will see Cam and Mere work together at the mansion and also work together on the relationship between them which is instant attraction followed by cautious feelings. Needless to say the girls are the glue that puts these two together many times but true love will cement it.
Ruthy knows how to pull a story together and this one was a pleasure to read.

This is so good — SO GOOD!
Cam Calhoun pretty much has his hands full with his two sweet, precocious daughters. So when Meredith Brennan contacts him to help restore a beautiful house she plans to turn into a beauty spa, he’s determined to stay out of her life — and her spa!
Cam and Meredith have a past. One I refuse to say anything about, mostly because you really need to read about it yourself. And you should — you really should.
But like I’ve been saying all along . . . if you haven’t read the other books in the series, you can read this one — and enjoy it — but it’s SO MUCH BETTER if you read them all (in order, please).

Young love that never really died. But then fourteen years of life happens and Cam and Meredith have to figure out how to get over past mistakes and make life work for them. I especially enjoyed the ending of the story and the choices they made.

I liked this story about Meredith and Cam. Cam kind of drove me nuts at times but I was glad to see him figure it all out in the end.
