K. L. Brady is a D.C. native but spent a number of her formative years in the Ohio Valley. She’s an alumnus of the University of the District of Columbia and University of Maryland University College, earning a B.A. in Economics and M.B.A., respectively. A lifelong Washington football fan, she's a professed nerd-girl who loves all things Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Big Bang Theory. She's a member of Romance Writers of America, International Thriller Writers, the Maryland Writers Association, and Sisters in Crime and lives to write novels, especially those involving hilarious quirky characters looking for love. She is hard at work on her next several projects including the sequels to HER PERFECT CATCH (part of the Valentine's Pets and Kisses box set) because girls love football, too!
Got A Right to Be Wrong by K.L. Brady picks up right where The Bum Magnet ended. Charisse and Kevin are headed to go down the aisle until all hell breaks loose. A baby comes into the picture, there are daddy-daughter issues, and drama is caused by a friend that believes he is a better man for Charisse, and those are just a few of the situations that make up this wonderful sequel.
“Now, with one stupid mistake, one failure to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth, and all the effort I’d made to earn her trust had dissipated.” Kevin is one of those characters that I wanted to make human and slap him upside his head but on the other hand I found myself hoping that he would be the one. Kevin makes it hard for Charisse to trust him again because he often listens to his friends instead of simply doing what is right.
And, don’t get me started on daddy issues. Charisse was hanging on to forty plus years of resentment and anger towards her father. “The rage I experienced all those years he didn’t demonstrate an ounce of concern for my well-being, the years he wouldn’t even speak to me or send me a simple birthday card to acknowledge my existence in the world. Could a father hurt his child more?” Brady writes this aspect of the book with such conviction that it felt as if I were Charisse.
The Bum Magnet was one of the funniest books I have read recently and I must admit that it was quite surprising yet refreshing to see that Got A Right to Be Wrong took on more serious subject matters. Brady writes in a style that I personally prefer: it is real and an accurate portrayal of how people’s conversations go. And, this quote perfectly summarizes the book as well as Brady’s writing style: “Baby, marriage ain’t nothing if not real. And the longer a marriage lasts, the more real it gets. That’s what you signed up for. You didn’t sign up for a lifelong fairy tale. You signed up for a lifetime of real. So, now you got real.”
Once again, Brady has knocked it out the park and I look forward to reading more from her!
Something old Something new Something borrowed A baby in blue?
Huh? Huh is right. If planning a wedding isn't already enough, Charisse Tyson must also deal with the news that her hubby-to-be is a dad-dy! A revelation that she finds out only one week before her wedding. Decisions, decisions, decisions. Further complicating the situation is Charisse's friend Lamar who wants to be more than a friend and her father that's been MIA for years. Here comes the bride? More like, here comes the drama.
Like its predecessor, GOT A RIGHT TO BE WRONG is entertaining, engaging, witty and fun. Themes of love, forgiveness, life decisions, insecurities and abandonment pervade this tale as main characters Charisse and Kevin square off in narrations. Although not a perfect novel (replay of the same events though different narrations and some too neat/convenient happenings), GOT A RIGHT TO BE WRONG works. Easily recommendable, Brady again delivers. I'm looking forward to her next novel.
I really enjoyed reading "The Bum Magnet" and couldn't wait to pick this one up and see what was next for crazy Charisse.
At the end of "The Bum Magnet" it seemed as though Charisse's long string of bums had finally come to an end. She met and fell in love with Kevin, and now they are one week from their wedding day. However, Charisse then finds out something about Kevin that makes her wonder if he is just another bum to add to her collection. Along with dealing with that, she also has her crazy family members in town for the wedding, as well as her best friend Lamar who is looking to replace Kevin as soon as he can.
This was a fantastic follow up to "The Bum Magnet." K.L. Brady does a fantastic job of making all these characters come alive and is able to keep what could have been a typical "baby mama drama" novel into an exciting page-turner. I couldn't wait to see what Charisse would do next.
I look forward to reading more of K.L. Brady's books.
I was very pleased with this book! The story was great and had a lot of family drama, surprises, humor, and even some intrigue! That is a lot! My favorite part of the book was the final section called "Happily Ever After?" I could totally relate. As a newlywed myself, I liked reading about some of the "real" struggles that couples can encounter. Another aspect of this book which I enjoyed was that some chapters would be in the voice of Kevin (leading man) and others would be from Charisse's perspective. Sometimes they would each tell the reader about an event or situation, and they would be similar but different. It really helped the reader to get into the minds of the characters and to see situations from all angles. I would like to read more my K.L. Brady, and am happy to report that I found out about this book through goodreads!!

So great to read a book that truly makes you Laugh Out Loud! I really enjoyed the sequel just as much as I enjoyed The Bum Magnet. Charisse is a very relatable character who despite of her "sometimes questionable" decisions has you rooting for her happiness. Please keep great novels coming Ms. Brady!
This was the February BoM for my bookclub. I didn't read the first book, The Bum Magnet, but I was able to catch on and enjoy this sequel. I could really relate to the main character, Charisse and what she went through dealing with past relationships. There were parts of the book that had me laughing, crying, and even mad. I would definitely recommend this to my friends.
K.L. Brady has done it again. I think that Charisse is me! This book was witty and contained drama that combined to give the reader a taste of what it means to being a work in progress. I laughed, I shook my head, and felt my emotions run the gamut. A very, very good read indeed.
Charisse is back and in love and ready to become Kevin’s wife. Over the past and all the Bums she encountered, she decides to go against the grain and get married, something she never saw herself ever doing, but Kevin changed all of that by being the exception to the rule. Ready to finally jump the broom-things spin out of control when secrets are revealed and Charisse is forced to face the last man on earth she wanted to see; her dad. Just a week before her wedding all hell breaks loose and the ultimate decision has to be made for this wedding to goes down. Got A Right To Be Wrong is an excellent sequel to The Bum Magnet. K.L. Brady has delivered yet another page turner that will make you laugh, cry, scream and cuss. I loved the way Karla delivers realistic plots that regular folks like myself can relate to. This is another well written work from Ms. Brady and I definitely will be looking forward to reading more of her works in the future. This sequel is a slam dunk Karla. I loved every moment of it!

K.L.Brady’s debut novel The Bum Magnet is one of my all time favorite reads, and I was hoping the sequel, Got a Right to Be Wrong, would make the grade… IT DOES! The story is comedy, drama, and reality all in one. Brady did an excellent job with character and plot building. The situations that the characters found themselves in were sometimes unexpected but always very natural and believable.
True to style, Got a Right to Be Wrong had those laugh out loud moments but was also intertwined with some hard knock life lessons that will make you take a moment to reflect. Readers definitely need to add this to their reading lists. They will not be disappointed.
First, I must say that I received this book through the Goodreads first reads giveaway and I am glad that I did. This is a entertaining book that makes you laugh, and cry, sometimes at the same time. It tells the story of a couple during the week before their marriage and all the troubles that incur. There are so many twists and turns in the story that sometimes you wonder at the outcome. Well done K L Brady. A very good book, even though there are a few graphic scenes that leave nothing to the imagination, that is written in a realistic way.
Loved it! I didn't think it was possible but this book was more "laugh-out-loud" than the Bum Magnet! Charisse deserves a "happy ever after", after meeting all of her crazy family at the wedding that almost didn't take place! And it is a good thing that Kevin is in the FBI because those meddling people had him solving all kinds of weird problems! Kevin deserves a medal! Nicely done!
I really enjoyed this book. It was such a delight to read something so real. I could relate to Charisse, she had me laughing, crying and just plain mad. K.L. Brady has a winner in this book.
Finished reading "Got A Right To Be Wrong" by K. L. Brady. I must say, it's one of the most entertaining books I've read this year. I was hooked from the very first page. Excellent storytelling. Funny. Drama. I'm now a fan.
