This book definitely helped me do well on the GRE. Online portion of this book gives you practice sets and adaptive tests, and it's good that there's a diagnostic test. The book is easy to read and it gives you a lot of strategies to answering questions on Test Day that I actually used!
This book really prepared me for the GRE. I feel that if I did not study, I would have been completely overwhelmed when taking it. It was stressful enough even with having a general idea of how I should be directing my efforts and what was expected of me before going into it.
The most helpful section of the book for me was the section on the quantitative section- particularly the section dealing with special triangles. That is the one thing I remember using on the test yesterday when I took it that I wouldn't have known before reading the Kaplan review book. It was helpful to know all the special angles and lengths instead of just panicking as soon as I saw it, struggling to remember my geometry class from 4 years ago in high school.
Using this book in general gave me an idea of the techniques I should have been trying to use for each problem. It gave me a good starting point for each problem and made me feel more confident that my techniques were going to get me the right answer.
The one thing I did not look at at all in this review book was the part on the Writing portion. I REALLY regretted it as soon as test started because I did not know what exactly they expected and what the graders would view as "good." I feel like I did very poorly on it. I will have to wait and see what my score is in 10 days when I get the results
In the end I got 159 and 162. I'm happy with those results.

Blahhh. This book took up a good portion of my time from over the summer to when I took the GRE just a few days ago, although, I probably should have used it more often. When coming up with a rating it was hard to determine how many stars I should give and what the stars mean: do the stars necessitate how much I liked using this book, or how helpful it was? I thought this was a very helpful book, but I wouldn't say that I looked forward to reading it and taking practice tests. However, I will say that there is something enjoyable about learning new words and being able to apply them.
This book is perfect to build your confidence about GRE. Presents all sections in an easily readable way. Finished it in less than 3 weeks.
Some quirks I found to reduce one star: advertising about other Kaplan material in between the text, using 'Kaplan' in the name of each strategy described in the book, and lack of coverage of certain material like quartiles in the Quants section, which are described in the math review guide by ETS.
A really good prep for the GRE.. especially the online practice tests and exercises. The book also concentrates on the Verbal part (which was my weakness) and gives directions on how to tackle each verbal question you may face with strong and understandable steps.
This book is a great study tool for the GRE. Math refreshers, vocabulary words, and most importantly, practice tests. I scored high on the test and recommend that anybody planning on taking the test read this book.
