Getting my 13 year old son to read anything is challenging. However, he liked the short stories based off his favorite sport.

As a hockey fan I absolutely loved this book!!!! I found the majority of the stories very enjoyable and I can’t wait to reread them. While I do think that some of the stories were better than others, I don’t think that there was a “bad” one in this book. I find that some of these, Chicken Soup For The Soul books can be a real hit or miss and this one was definitely a hit. I really enjoyed reading what hockey means to so many, what ties them to this wonderful sport and what drives them to play or watch this fast paced game. No matter what team you cheer for, whether you watch from the stands or from your couch, are a new fan or old, there is definitely something everyone in this collection of stories. It really gives the reader a deeper connection to the sport of hockey and I highly recommend it to everyone, even non-hockey fans. Who knows maybe they too will become a fan after reading this book.

Not a review, as I can't write an unbiased one.

This anthology of 101 stories evokes the nostalgia and triumph of ice hockey, from frozen Canadian ponds to the devoted parents in the bleachers to the NHL pros; my own story, "Numbers Game," is included on page 317.

This book was a good way to take a break from reading novels. I liked most of the stories, but I did find that some of them were too similar and started to blend together.

While this book combines two of my favourite things (hockey & books), I wasn't super impressed. The book contains 101 different stories, grouped into smaller categories. Though most of the stories are interesting, they tend to be similar and so it became redundant and I got easily bored. After completing the book, I realized I made the mistake of reading it straight through. A better approach would have been to read stories in bunches of 10-12 in between other books. That way I'd enjoy the stories, read something else, and by the time I came back to read the next set, the previous ones wouldn't be fresh in my mind.

A perfect read during winter months. Dog-eared so many pages I wanted to refer back to. Wonderful stories about hockey loving families, obsessed with the sport kids, grandparents, lots of women(fans and players, both) all finely honed tales that will make you laugh, cheer, cry (sometimes!) but mostly, make you proud to be a fan or wannabe of this fine outdoor national game for many of us.
I grew up on Hockey Night in Canada every Saturday night on the t.v.; we all watched, it's what we did as a family, cheering on our Leafs (our household) and actually maybe even attending a live game, joy! Even if you know nothing about hockey, Hooked on Hockey will enlighten you and delight your senses as you visualize the ice, the players and the puck chase. As always, the contributor bios at the back will have you searching some out on the web as more than a handful are writers, humorists and all around good folk, fans, like us!

Even though this book gets 4 stars from me, there were stories that were just rather blah. Of course how can you rate 101 different stories about hockey, a sport I live and breathe and have since I was 4 years old? Some moved me to tears, while others were not anything I would have included in this compilation.

Hooked on Hockey is a great read if you're looking for heartwarming short stories related to hockey. The only issue with having short stories written by just about anyone, is that some of the stories may not hold interest to some but will to others.
