An obsessive crush puts partygoers in danger in this frighteningly fun addition to the You’re Invited to a Creepover series.
Kayla Evans wants to be part of the popular crowd. She wants it so much that she looks the other way whenever queen bee Alice Grafton is rude to her and to everyone else. It seems like Alice only likes one her crush, Nick Maroulis. She is totally obsessed with making him like her too, so much so that she mixes a love potion into the punch at her big party over the weekend. But when the party comes to a sudden halt, Kayla realizes that it was no love potion that Alice put in the punch. Now it’s up to Kayla to find the mysterious girl who sold the potion to Alice and get the antidote before everyone suffers from Alice’s mistakes…permanently.
This terrifying tale is a level 4 on the Creep-o-Meter. Super scary!

You better be nice... or else I wouldn't recommend drinking the punch! Another fun book in this series!
I so love that I can re-read this whole (or well the books I still have) series again. This one was definitely high on my list to try out and boy I had so much fun reading it. I wasn't always a fan of the characters, and I can honestly say that I didn't mind what happened to the girls (I know terrible of me, but the girls were just horrendous).
I did like our MC though. She was a sweet girl who just needs to learn that popularity is cool and all but being nice is way better. I liked that she showed that she cared about things. Like when her best friend's dog chased a cat into the streets, she helped the cat unlike her friends who just walked away. Also in other parts she shows that she is just a bit desperate but other than that a friendly person who just needs to learn that the popular crowd may be the wrong fit for her. I also loved that she, unlike the other girls, wasn't rich. However, I would have loved if she would have been honest about it. They probably already know any way.
The book mainly focuses on the big party that is coming up. Valentine's day is here and the girls are eager to make a big party. Parents are also invited to be there but they got their own floor to party. I was definitely enjoying seeing the party come closer and closer and the girls (and then especially the mean ones) think of a way to make everything awesome. I can slightly understand that they wanted to use the love potion, I know that around that age I wouldn't have minded a potion or two myself as the boys I was looking at didn't look back at me. :(
The party goes gravely wrong, and the girls get a big portion of karma their way. I do have to wonder... if our MC's mom hadn't been there... would she have gone through all that trouble? For now she was really focused on helping her mom, so that definitely had me curious.
I did feel for Mathilda and found her quite an interesting character to read about. I wouldn't mind reading her story.
The ending was a great extra to the story. Oh my gosh. I do hope that everything is fine with our duo. *crosses fingers*
All in all, I really enjoyed this one. I would recommend it!
This creepover had one of the best endings in the series! Not scary but definitely a quick and fun read for younger kids looking to get into the horror/thriller genre.
In the beginning of the story, there was this intrigue and mystery, because you know something is brewing behind the scenes, but you just can't tell exactly with it is. The main part of the story wasn't very exciting for me, but I still kept reading as I wanted to know how this will all end. The ending of the story, however, I've found to be the most spooky with a slight cliffhanger, because I never knew what happened to Matilda, among other unanswered questions. But overall it's a bit interesting to read. The main characters are 12 year old kids, but sometimes they seem older, and I forgot they were so young.
I really loved the thrill, the sentences were able to stand out make me remember instead of reading but not actually paying attention to whats happening. I don't have to re-read sentences, it's a great book.
now, I rated it 3 1/2 but I still really like it, but I expected more of an improvement. I mean, the truth or dare book was in this series TEN BOOKS PREVIOUS TO THIS! and you STILL have me doing AVERAGE reviews? well, this IS really good, because it's REALLY COOL. it's about Kayla Evans, and her attempt to save all of her mean friend Alice Grafton's valentine's party AND Alice's mother's party, one of those guests being HER WIDOWED MOTHER. (WHAT?!) when she gets to the store, she is pleading with Matilda to give Kayla the antidote. but then she says no and reveals the GOLDEN PLOT TWIST:
so, all in all, a good book. but...
WHAT?! DON'T DRINK THE PUNCH HAS A RATING OF 4.36 AND WHAT A DOLL HAS A RATING OF 4.26?! THIS STORY SUGGESTS THAT YOUR UNLIKABLE-MEAN-GIRL-FRIENDS ARE WORTH SAVING!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH HUMANITY?!
Ceritanya ringan, ya. Banget. Ya iyalah, namanya buku buat anak-anak.
Di belakang buku ada semacam tingkat keseraman gitu, namanya 'Creep-O-Meter'. Buku ini level keseramannya ada di level 4 alias 'sleep with the lights on'. Tapi, sekali lagi, mungkin karena ini buku anak-anak, saya gak ngerasa seram sama sekali. Apanya yang seram dari cewek berumur puluhan tahun tapi masih kelihatan seperti anak SD? Nope, nope.
I thought that this book (dont drink The Punch) was amazing because it was one of those books where you cant put it down and you read a chapter and it has this little mystery setence at the end. It makes you feel very exited. In this book there are some shocking and suprising things that happened and it is a very good book.
