I needed this book this week. I needed to once again ground my thoughts and look around me and see how much God is looking over me and the world. These stories are short and amazing. I love this series.
"The centerpiece of this book is the collection of charming, heartfelt, and astonishing letters I have received from people like you who have taken the time to share their life-altering godwink stories.
These warm letters reaffirm that godwinks happen to everyone. We just need to learn how to see them, allow them to unfold, and accept them as direct, person-to-person communications from God to each of us.
As you'll see, every note, buoyant with enthusiasm, is from someone like a new friend of yours who tells you that those so-called coincidences you've been dismissing really do mean something. And you need to pay special attention. They are like unopened gifts that have been placed on your doorstop.
If you're like me, you will also be impressed at how every joy, every hurt, and every worry you encounter has already been written about in the Bible. Godwink Stories simply draws upon the parallel between the letters of real people and the wisdom God had others write into the ancient Scriptures three thousand years ago.
Godwink Stories can be read in various ways. You may decide to read the book cover to cover. You may wish to place it on your nightstand to read one bite-size mini-chapter per week for fifty-two weeks. Or you may just want a pick-me-up-story that fits your need of the day. Godwink Stories is cross-referenced by category - suiting your desire to peruse a letter that speaks to a time of sorrow or your appetite for an uplifting bedtime story. " (pg 9-10).Each story is linked with a specific biblical scripture that ties the letter to the Bible, along with an insightful information that is geared to make you think about a situation before you read the letter.
Some of the categories you can search for are Times of Sorrow, Medical, Heartfelt, Angels, Don't Quit, Divine Alignment, Just In Time, Love Stories, Uplifting, and Prayer. You are geared to find something to inspire you at just the right moment or perhaps encourage and share a story with others in need. This is truly a gift that you can give at anytime of the year and would make the perfect Christmas gift. I received Godwink Stories: A Devotional by Squire Rushnell and Louise Duart compliments of Howard Books, a division of Simon & Schuster Publishers for my honest review.
If you love books like Chicken Soup for the Soul but geared for more faith based and inspirational readers, than this is the perfect book for you. I chose to read mine like a great dessert, a little bit at a time each night and there is truly something geared to make you smile, sigh and even reflect on your life or the life of someone you know. I personally rate this one a 4 out of 5 stars. The one story that really hit home for me this week in particular was called "Can I Trust God to Look Out for Me?" It talks about how so many times it feels as if everything is going wrong and often times we wonder where is God in all of this. The scripture reference was 1 Peter 5:8 " Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Too often times we look to God for the blame when it's the enemy we should be pointing our finger at. It reminds us through three separate letters of others in the same circumstance as you, that if you've gotten into the habit of fortifying your daily life with prayer, you'll find yourself better prepared for an emergency when it comes.
Did this as a nightly devotional with my Fiance and we both enjoyed it. Some of the stories were a bit of a stretch in my view but overall it was a nice reminder that God is present in the small moments of life.

Why do we need a new daily devotional? Most of us need help to focus our attention. There are so many things that vie for our attention and we juggle so many that, sometimes, we lose sight of what really is important. So we need this devotional to help calm and center us. We sometimes miss God speaking to us because we dismiss the circumstance as merely coincidence. These true stories— from ordinary people—provide: Messages of “don’t give up”, Heartfelt need for love and guidance, Hope in the midst of medical crises, “Just in time” moments, Peace in times of sorrow, Tender love stories and Amazing answers to prayer. “Godwink Stories” is not a time-consuming read. They are only a few pages long and are quick reads but they are oh so helpful to properly channel our energies in the right direction. If we use these daily devotionals correctly we will all be the better for it. It is perfect to give as gifts to family and friends that they, also, will use month after month and thank you for it. I recommend this book highly!

This is a collection of small devotionals that some would call coincidences but believers call miracles. They are things that just happened that weren't necessarily prayed for. They just show that God cares and loves his people. Very touching and sweet.
Picked this up with the intention of reading one story a week. ( it is written in 52 chapters/stories) But the deep feelings I come away with propel me to read on more quickly. Inspirational
Not only is this a nice little devotional but one of my own stories was published in this book. I was in touch with the author and sent him a personal story not realizing he was compiling stories from readers to include in his next book. I was surprised to hear back from the author, SQuire Rushnell, indicating his interest in my story that I thought was hardly worthy of being published in a book like this. So I submitted a story about a God Wink moment I had and then had another God Wink in submitting it at just the right time.
Interestingly, I had a yet another God Wink during the process. As it happened, I gave a signed copy of this book to my Mother who in turn gave me another one of SQuire's books. Niether of us had any idea we were thinking along the same lines in choosing a gift. It was a fun moment as we both opened our books at the same time on Christmas day. < br/> Additionally, my story appeared on chapter 44 which happens to be my favorite number and the title of the chapter was "Divine Alignment". The title of the book my Mother gave me? "Divine Alignment". It's hard to explain away things like that - and that's the point SQuire makes in his books. It's not coincidence, it's a God Wink.
