Colleen Thompson began writing the contemporary romantic suspense novels she loves in 2004. Since then, her work has been honored with the Texas Gold Award, nominations for the RITA, Daphne du Maurier, multiple reviewers' choice honors, along with starred reviews from Romantic Times and Publisher's Weekly. A former teacher living with her family and their latest rescue dog in the Houston area, Colleen can be found on the web at www.colleen-thompson.com.
When Cole breaks up what appears to be a bank robbery he finds out that Lisa had done it because her son was being held hostage. He immediately joins Lisa in trying to follow the kidnappers to get her son back. The action is non-stop as Cole and Lisa keep trying to catch up. When they finally do, they discover this was more than just a random kidnapping and that Lisa and her son are in far more danger than they thought. I really liked both Cole and Lisa. Cole was still feeling guilty over his inability to save Lisa's husband, and was determined he wouldn't fail in saving her son. There were a couple times when he considered leaving it to the cops, but ended up sticking with Lisa. His determination at the end had him overcoming his injuries to save Tyler. Lisa was raising her son on her own after her husband's death in Afghanistan. When she was carjacked and forced into an attempted bank robbery she was desperate to do whatever needed to save her son. When Cole foiled her robbery she got him to help her chase after the kidnappers. I liked the way she was mostly able to keep her head. She also felt an attraction to Cole, but refused to let it distract her her. She was also very clever in the way that she snuck off to follow the kidnappers' instructions. She would have gotten away with it if Cole hadn't been a little suspicious of her actions. I also liked the way that she attacked the kidnapper in that final confrontation. The way that she and Cole came together at the end was just perfect for them.
In what Colleen Thompson called "her runaway train," "Relentless Protector" gives the reader a ride of their life. This book starts off with a car jacking, a bank robbery and a kidnapping and takes the reader on the bumping ride of a car chase, running to save the life of a 5 year old boy, Tyler and his pal, Octobuddy. Tyler's mom, Lisa Meador has been through a lot after loosing her husband the previous year; she is not willing to loose her son.
Cole Sawyer wasn't sure what was going down when he spotted the scared, wide eyed woman robbing the bank. And he certainly wasn't going to let her get away after shots are fired during the robbery. He knows of Lisa's loss and isn't sure if she's lost her mind or what.
This train ride slows down and let's you get to know Lisa's father, Sid Hartfield and Deputy Jill Keller, but only for a few seconds when it takes off at breakneck speed after the kidnappers sneak a note into a cake delivered to Lisa. The action doesn't stop until Lisa finds Octobuddy lost on the ground with blood on a tentacle. Lisa can't give up now.
Ms. Thompson always promises her readers a heart thumping, thrilling ride and this one is no different. I've never been disappointed and neither will you when you read "Relentless Protector" by Colleen Thompson.
This story starts out with revenge written all over it... but is written in such a way that it leaves you constantly guessing what is going to happen next.
Lisa Meador is the widow of a fallen solider with a little boy named Tyler. She is a determined heroine who is strong in the face of heartbreak and willing to do anything to save her son from a kidnapper even rob a bank.
Cole Sawyer is a former army ranger who is dealing with his own "failures" and blames himself for the death of Lisa's husband. He tries to stop a bank robbery and is doing everything in his power to right wrongs and save Lisa's Son.
A Kidnapper from the past who Lisa can't remember that leaves the reader wondering who exactly is Evie LeStrange???
Throw in a couple of local cops, one that can't follow directions and follows her "own" rules.
And you get a fast-paced, suspenseful, thriller written by Colleen Thompson that is a quick read that leaves you guessing until the last chapter.

Very disappointing. I felt I had to finish with the hopes that this story wouldn't have a hold on me.
1st - as a mother, it caused terrible nightmares that had me shaken for days! 2nd - the main romance wasn't believable since it grew out of tragedy & you really didn't feel it in any way. As a mom, I wouldn't even give it a thought until I had my child back. 3rd - add a 2nd romance. And this one isn't well formed, either.
Not worth your time! I wouldn't start away from the author (without having read any of her other books), but definitely don't bother with this book!
