This is the second book in the Starfish Bay series. While it was shorter than the first one it was no less enjoyable.

This one dealt with two of the characters that we meet in the first book. Cindy and her son Jarrod.

Some of the endearing secondary characters from the first book show up in this one but as almost to just add extra length.

There were some secondary plot holes that didn’t truly get resolved. The way she resolved them was almost short handed.

Even with the negatives this book still had a lot going for it.
It isn’t a preachy book and it has enough mentioning of God that it is a Christian romance, not just a clean one. Would have liked the book to be fleshed out a little more though.

Don’t hesitate to pick this one up if you get the chance.

Second Impressions

For Scott and Cindy, it isn't love at first sight...more like loathe. But as their paths continue to cross and some wise women let prayers and a few well chosen words take effect, it becomes apparent that their relationship is meant to be more than friendship, if they can look beyond their pasts and give the future a shot. A warm romance that reminds us that happy endings are possible and dreams can come true.

I did not read the first book in the series, but I can tell from reading this one that it could be a stand-alone. It was a well-written book that starts by tugging your heart strings with the scenario of a widow who is busy with her job as well as taking care of her young son Jackson. Scott meets Cindy when they are not on the best of terms since Jackson was caught several times going on Scott’s construction site. Setting the stage for conflict and romance, Irene Hannon does a masterful job of drawing the reader into the story and making one enjoy the tale all the way to the end.

Disclaimer: I checked out a copy of this book electronically from the library. I was not required to provide a positive review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Setting: Starfish Bay, California
This is a sweet, clean Christian romance. It is "slow-burn" as Scott Walsh (main male) and Cindy Peterson (main female) have issues to work thru before deciding whether or not they want to attempt being in a relationship. I don't ususally cry with books, but this book did make me cry "happy tears". This is an encore edition and was orginally published as a Love Inspired by Harlequin. So, although it was a shorter book, it didn't seem that it was short as the characters and plot lines were very well developed. This is just my second book by Irene Hannon as I am just recently finding her as an author. I really like her style of writing and I definitely plan to read more of her books!

A sweet and endearing love story. We met Cindy and her son Jarrod in book one of the Starfish Bay series. Cindy is a recent widow trying to do right by her only son. However at times she has to work long hours and Jarrod gets bored sitting around the house. What boy could resist a construction sight with all the heavy equipment. Too bad the head guy of this project is there when Jarrod decides to trespass for a second time.
Scott can't abide lazy parents who let their children wander around unsupervised. When he sees Jarrod with his mom he decides to let her know. Sparks fly and maybe just maybe they were both wrong about each other.
Sweet and calming love story.

I found the story sweet and touching. I don't recall reading any about any villain-induced dramatic moments, but there was a special story of Cindy, a widow who probably didn't even realize she was looking for love, but when she came across the right man, her heart melted (but not based on the initial contact!). And Scott was too busy and reserved for love, but of course the right person can open up your heart and change your priorities. Most of the interaction between Cindy, her son, and Scott were just comforting and inspiring. They just have to look beyond their reservations, give love a chance, and trust God to work in their relationship.

Seriously Powerful

The proposal is the best part of the book. Read the ending and come back. Jarrod was insightful for an eleven-year-old. The way Scott proposed blew my mind, and the way Cindy accepted without hesitation was finesse. I'm glad Devon finally grew up and Grams found a purpose for living.

I like this story a lot. I love the coast of
Northern California, so having a sweet romance take place in such a setting, is everything I could want! The ending was super sweet and realistic in the sense that the romance took time to blossom and didn’t start easily. I loved the characters and found myself wanting to come back to the story to see how it would unfold.

It's got it all!

This is a beautiful love story about a couple who suffered greatly from past losses, but who found love when they least expected it. This book covers a range of emotions. It also includes some lively old ladies, a wise young boy, and even an adorable dog. It's got it all! Sweet!

Wonderful novel!

Irene Hannon did a wonderful job on this book. Cindy Peterson along with her son, Jarrod, is the main character. She meets Scott Walsh on a restaurant and he has words with them. The story is wonderful. Jeanette Stracner

Believable characters in relatable situations. I enjoyed the personalities and relationships of the multi-generational group. It was easy to get involved in the storyline and look for a happy ending.

A sweet story with interesting characters. In this chaotic world, it's nice to read stories without violence and bad language! Shannon writes of people who are remarkable for their faith and ability to love one another through hard times.

I think it was a good book. Even though it killed me that I had to wait for things I wanted to happen, they happened at good times and it happened in a cute way.
