Not all of us meet that one special man that manages to meet every single desire we crave. But for photographer Stephanie she does and that man is unbelievably hot Lieutenant Daniel Murphy.
Yes he is a man in uniform which makes the book all the more better! The chemistry was absolutely scorching and in true Joanne Rock style the book packed one heck of a punch.
The story deals on how Danny tries to convince Stephanie that their blazing passion is one that needs to be shared for more than just few nights. And my oh my does the convincing get more than just a little “uniformly” hot!
I loved the descriptive wording used by the author. The characters were uniquely created with true emotion. I felt the compassion for poor Danny having to pull out all the stops to get the woman of his dreams into his bed on a permanent basis. Stephanie was a very remarkable character in her own right and added her very own little twist to the book.
I recommend this blazingly hot read to all lovers of a romance that comes with a kick !

I am such a sucker for a second chance. There are some couples who are better off apart, but Danny and Stephanie were definitely not one of those. There was so much chemistry between them, it kept them from finding happiness with anyone else, until it eventually brought them back together. There was a lot of emotional baggage this pair needed to unpack even though most of it had nothing to do with their time together. I enjoyed seeing how they navigated each other’s triggers and found ways to come to common ground. This was the perfect way to close out the saga that was the Murphy family and I kind of hate that I have to let them all go now.
Stephanie Rosen had a bad experience in her past as a kidnap victim, but she is now ready to put her fears behind her and try to find a new “normal”. But the one she trusts to help her is Lieutenant Daniel Murphy who has also never forgotten his one-night stand with Stephanie. So when he finally comes home on leave, she is ready to open her heart… a little bit. Will the two of them find love and peace in starting a relationship? Or will a new threat cause her to pull back and break off all ties? It may not be a straight path, but can they find a way to accept this second chance to start a new life together?
I am a new fan of Joanne's and this didn't disappoint. Love men in uniform, and loved this book. Easy read, spunky heroine, and a guy to just easily die for. Love how they have chemistry right off the bat, and the premise was cute, but not dumb, if you know what I mean. Sexy premise for sure. I'm looking to read more of her long list of books.
I couldn’t put “Full Surrender” down. This is why I hold fast that I will read anything written by Joanne Rock; she can spin a tale like no one I know — and I read voraciously. I’ve even tried her J.K. Rock, stories written with her sister-in-law, Karen, who together make one heck of a team. While their voice is different, you still feel Joanne’s hand in it yet together they are refreshingly solid and entertaining Rock’s books are so engaging because her characters real, believably flawed yet captivatingly so. They aren’t all great successes or failures. They experience life as the rest of us do, by living it — mistakes, misfortunes, successes and all. In “Full Surrender,” Rock tackled a subject that for some really does fall flat — trauma. Stephanie Rosen five years before was selected by pal Christina Marcel to accompany her as photojournalist straight out of internship to Iraq for a series of stories. While there, both were captured and held hostage for a period of time. Steph has moved on, but still suffers some of the effects. Not being able to see what’s happening or being in the dark are among them. I love that Rock didn’t find it necessary for her female lead to have been sexually abused, as seems to be the current trend. Rape should never be treated lightly, and while even one rape is too many, many writers today seem to find it a necessary plot device if the character is in some way suffering or has something in the past to overcome. Rock’s leading lady has also lost her “mojo” when it comes to relationships — especially the intimate part. Even with a long-term boyfriend Stephanie finds no spark. Since she hasn’t been turned on since her five-day fling with Christina’s hot cousin Danny Murphy, Steph decides to seek out the laid-back musician turned Navy lieutenant and try to recapture said “mojo.” So she tracks him down through his mother and meets him as his ship returns home after 6 months at sea. She awkwardly propositions him; asking for another fling while he’s on leave so she can achieve some sexual healing. Turns out she’s not the only one changed by her experience in Iraq. Danny went a little off the deep end when he found out the woman he’d found bliss with had been kidnapped. When his prominent family’s connections and influence failed in getting both cousin Christina and Stephanie back — but mostly Steph, he follows that inclination that’s been nagging him for some time. He enlists to make a difference, fight for others like them. Things are again white-hot and intense between Steph and Danny from the get go. He’s getting a second chance to convince this amazing woman he hasn’t been able to forget that he’s what she needs permanently. She should have figured it out when he takes her with him to the family home with his parents and siblings so they won’t be parted while he’s being welcomed home and seeing his brother hitched. Of course, while the chemistry is off the charts, there’s always adjustments to the changes in each life and experience have wrought. Plus, there’s her overachieving never-pleased mother’s constant disappointment in her less than genius normal daughter. When mom accidentally receives threatening emails meant for Steph, she’s beside herself. Unfortunately, the protector in Danny also rages and he oversteps in the help department, not waiting for Steph to take action as promised. Of course, Steph sees it as him trying to take away her hard fought independence, a sign he’s like her mom. What he unearths, that her ex, who works for the agency that printed her flop of a book about her experience in Iraq and supposed to be reporting these types of threats to the police, hasn’t reported any of the threats which continue to escalate. (And apparently years before failed to forward Danny’s letter to Steph pouring out his heart to her and asking for a chance.) She find out and is livid — until she realizes he’s not trying to take away her right to make choices and do for herself, but this time has to do something to make sure she’ll be OK, even if it means he loses her. He can’t stand by when a simple thing like a phone call can help. These characters work through their issues. Danny, although not perfect, is the perfect man for Steph. I love that he can be strong, yet still has that musicians soul deep down. He also knows himself well enough to no what his limits are and what’s right for him. And, despite being a sailor, he’s not a potty mouth. He gets “torqued off” when he’s peeved. I like that Rock can write a character that’s believable but doesn’t have to use f-bombs and excessive profanity to sell him as the red-blooded hunt in uniform he really is! Rocks’s secondary or supporting characters may have small roles in her stories, but you can’t help but become attached to them, as if they are your friends and family too. They serve their purpose without taking up too much ink — and you want to know them better. She give you just enough of them, you hope to see them again in other books or even their own stories. “Full Surrender” kept me turning pages. When I started the book late one night, I thought I’d read a few pages to help relax enough to sleep after an exhausting day. Lately, that’s been the case — I nod off a few pages in. With this one, as I often do with Mrs. Rock’s books, I looked up and found myself two chapters in. My mind was totally engaged and after a while had to force myself to put it down so I could get a few hours of sleep. Was almost late the next morning after again becoming engrossed over morning coffee. I finished it after work that night, sighing contentedly at the conclusion. Often, I find myself sad to leave the characters when the book ends, needing just a little more. Not so here. I felt good about where they were. Rock know just where to stop. Afterward, had the best, most rested sleep in a long time. Thanks, Joanne, for taking us along for Danny and Steph’s journey! To borrow a favorite phrase from a friend, “You RocK, girl!”
A sizzling hot contemporary tale! Taken from my review at RomanceJunkies.com:
Camerawoman Stephanie Rosen had hooked up with Danny, a lead guitarist, five years ago just before she took off for her six-month long assignment in Iraq with his cousin. They had spent five sensationally sensual days together before they parted ways, having agreed that this short interval was all they would have. But it was her memories of him that sustained her when she and Danny’s journalist cousin were captured and held for six weeks in Iraq. When she returned to the States, Stephanie had to not only deal with recovering from her ordeal, but also care for her mother. After Stephanie’s capture her mother had gone to pieces and ended up developing pneumonia. She was close to death by the time Stephanie returned home. Despite this, Stephanie and her mom, who wrote literary blockbusters, did not usually get along. In fact, her mom had admitted that she was not cut out to be a mom. After seeking therapeutic help, Stephanie had written a book about her ordeal. However, instead of the book being accepted by the public, there were some groups who claimed her book was anti-American. Now five years later, she is still receiving threats in the mail and by email. Having moved to D.C. and started a new business in pet photography, she is finally getting her life in order…except for one area, her intimate life. For the past year, she has not been able to get Danny off of her mind. So she arranged to meet him when his ship came in and proposition him to help her with a sexual healing.
Lieutenant Daniel Murphy had been the lead guitarist with an up-and-coming band when he met Stephanie five years ago. He had been blown away from their first meeting and had been unable to forget their five days together before she left. No woman had matched her since then. But when he heard that she had been captured, he went ballistic, wanting to go to Iraq and bring her back. However, nothing he or his wealthy family had tried worked. For some time he has wanted to do something more meaningful. So after going into a rage one time too many, he had signed up for the Navy.
Arriving back in Norfolk after six months at sea, Danny had been the last one off of the ship. After all, he had no one to meet him. He had a few days to himself and then he had to head to his parent’s home where his brother Jack and his fiancée were getting married. Walking off of the ship, he was shocked to see Stephanie, believing for a moment that he was hallucinating. Agreeing to go to dinner, he took her to his home. But no one could be more shocked than he when she propositioned him. Honored that she would come to him and wanting her even more than he had before, there was no way he was going to say no. But as they spent time together, he realized that he wanted forever with her. However, she is holding him at arms’ length except for their time in bed. Can he convince her that they belong together in the twenty day they have, or is this short interval all that they will ever have?
Hot, Hot, Hot! FULL SURRENDER, the final book in talented author Joanne Rock’s MURPHY MEN series, is a witty, passionate contemporary romance that will enthrall you from the very beginning of the story. I read it in one sitting, finding it impossible to put the book down until I found out how it ended. The Murphy clan is rambunctious and absolutely delightful, while the passion between Danny and Stephanie is explosive and instantaneous. Filled with humor, family dynamics, smoking hot passion, witty banter, engaging characters, PTSD, life threatening situations, healing and true love, FULL SURRENDER is unforgettable. Although it is not necessary to read the rest of the series before reading this story, I advise reading them for the entertainment value. In fact, as soon as I finished reading this book the first thing I did was search for the rest of the series. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great story with plenty of spice.
This is book five and the final book in The Murphy Brother’s series and it is Daniel and Stephanie’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Daniel and Stephanie have history because they spent some explosive nights together before Stephanie went abroad and Daniel went in the navy but neither forgot each other but will they get a second chance after everything that they have been through only time will tell what the outcome and future holds for them in the end. Stephanie had been through a traumatic experience while being held captive in the Middle East where she had gone as a photographer for the media and her ordeal lasted for six weeks before she was released leaving her with anxiety and mental health issues but now she was at the dockside waiting to see Daniel again after so many years have passed. Daniel went into the navy after Stephanie had been kidnapped and held captive but now years later he loved the job that he did and was now a lieutenant and they had just docked and he was definitely ready for some leave so that he could see his family so imagine his surprise and shock when he saw Stephanie the one woman that he never forgot waiting for him. When Stephanie asked Daniel if he can help her with a personal matter because he was the only one that she trusted to help her he agreed even though he was only on leave for three weeks before he would need to leave and go back to his ship but he definitely wasn’t going to give up the chance to be with her again after so long as his feelings for her had never gone away. The attraction and chemistry between Daniel and Stephanie was as strong as ever and there connection was so intense and the time that they spent together they fell even more and deeper in love but would they admit it before there time is up and then complications arise that could either make or break everything that they had built together. When you have a love and connection as strong as Daniel and Stephanie’s it will definitely stand the test of time and give them the happiness and future that they always wanted and deserved. Wow what a amazing way to end this series and it was exactly what I was hoping for. No relationship is plain sailing and the Murphy clan definitely proved that but it is so worth going through everything that they did to get the outcome that they all wanted. Joanne Rock is an amazing author and writer and her books are definitely worth reading and I can’t wait to see what she writes next and I will be there to read it.
Daniel Murphy and Stephanie Rosen's story is the 5th book in the Murphy Brothers series. These two lovers are reunited after 5 yrs. It has been a traumatic time for them both. Stephanie was kidnapped while on assignment as a photographer, along with Daniel's cousin who was a reporter in the middle east and Daniel joined the Navy after her capture to do everything he could to free both women. When Stephanie waits for him on the pier after five years of not seeing her, he has been away for 6 months at sea, she needs him to find that part of her that can feel passion again and she knows Daniel is just the man to do it. Daniel is shocked to see Steph on the pier waiting for him, but his passion and love for her has never wavered and he is more than willing to bring the joy of passion to her again. And can he show her that she can feel more than just passion.
I found this book of all the books in the Murphy brothers series to be the most compelling. Daniel and Stephanie had a past that was both on the surface and deep in their shared past. Those days they spent together before Steph left held a deeper meaning when they once again reunited. You could feel the sexual tension between the two of them from the moment they were reunited and that sensuality and passion was on each page of this book. Joanne Rock does an exultant job of keeping her readers glued to her book to find out if this pair will have a HEA. Great characters through out the book, as we are reunited with all the Murphy brothers, their parents and their partners. While reading any of these books you feel like you are one of the family.

This book wraps up the Murphy brothers’ stories, and gives the last single brother standing his love story. It was fun to see a little more of all the brothers and their female counterparts during a welcome home celebration for Danny and Jack’s wedding. I enjoyed the family dynamics and brotherhood. It was overall a good read. It is noted that Danny and Jack are the brothers most like each other and I thought Danny’s book was most like Jack’s, if you have read them all. When naval officer Danny returned home from a deployment at sea he found Stephanie waiting for him. He had fallen for her five years before in a whirlwind romance right before she went overseas for work. A traumatic event on that trip had far-reaching consequences for both of them and they hadn’t seen each other since she left. Stephanie had done a lot of healing, but had one major hang-up that she wanted Danny’s help with. As they spent time together they both had to face the strength of their feelings. Being the final book in the series, there is carryover from the previous books, however this book reads well as a standalone as well. There are elements included in this story that involve a war zone and kidnapping/hostage experiences. This is an open door romance with some innuendo and occasional, mostly mild with a small amount of moderate, harsh language.

This is the 5th book in The Murphy Brothers series featuring Daniel and Stephanie's emotional 2nd chance romance between Daniel and Stephanie have a lot of emotional baggage and obstacles they have to work through if if they want to have any chance of being together. Stephanie has a traumatic past which includes being kidnapped which was the inspiration behind Daniel joining the Navy giving up his music career and he didn't join his family business. Once Stephanie decides that she wants to break free from the trauma of her past and what better way than to seduce Daniel because he's the only man she wants. When Daniel gets home from ship leave he's in for the surprise of his life when he sees the stunning beauty that's there to greet him. Daniel is in love with Stephanie we're talking he sees wedding rings when he looks at her where as she just wants to have some fun especially with how overprotective Daniel can be. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this emotional 2nd chance romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

Wow! This one was emotional - but so worth the wait! Danny and Stephanie met five years ago and had an intense attraction, but their fling had an expiration date, so they agreed to no commitments. Since then, she was kidnapped and held for six weeks in the Middle East, and he has joined the Navy. But neither of them has ever forgotten the other. Stephanie is suffering from PTSD and she connects better with the animals she photographs than with people. The last person she was really happy with was Danny. So she seeks him out, in a quest to help herself heal. Danny has thought about Stephanie every day for the last five years, so he's beyond surprised to see her now, but he's going to do all he can to not let her get away again. They have to work through her PTSD and his intense need to protect her at all costs, though she doesn't want to be seen as helpless. There are some missed connections, miscommunications, and plenty of nosy family members complicating their story. But in the end, can he convince her that what they have is forever? This was so good, and a nice end to the series, but I'm so sad it's all over! I can't wait to see what Joanne does next!

Full Surrender by Joanne Rock Danny Murphy has just walked off his ship and is back on land after months away at sea with the US Navy. Stephanie, a war photographer who was abducted and held and then released after some torture is there waiting for his return as he's the only one that she can feel safe near. They hook up and retreat to his family resort area where he has a place and she agrees to stay and accompany him to the family's reunion and to gear up for one of his brothers weddings. They rehash old things and he gets a glimpse as to what she is still terrified about as things happen. She finds out why he left the band to join the military after they had met over 5 years ago. Love the extras built into Danny's house for the future. Love the family outing and how everyone is connected with having fun. Love how hi tech comes into play in this book and how he finds out about her pet photography business. She is an author and is getting threats and her mom thinks it's the kidnappers again. When he tries to help with going to the authorities she shuts him down, she can take care of herself. Gonna go find the rest of the Murphy men series!
Coming Undone is the fifth book in Joanne Rock's Murphy Brothers series. The book works fine as a standalone. However, this book was particularly satisfying to me because there had been hints about this particular Murphy brother, Daniel, and a past heartbreak that he never truly got over.
Daniel Murphy is a lieutenant in the navy, in fact, it was mentioned here and in a previous book that one of his older brothers joined the navy to support Daniel. Years earlier, Daniel met a woman, Stephanie Rosen and they had a one nightstand. Afterwards, he was abducted, and knowing Stephanie's trauma has not left Daniel the same. But now that he's back home on shore leave, Daniel and Stephanie meet when she meets him at the ship.
There is so much that they left unsaid. There are so many feelings. There is so much that they need to learn about each other. Stephanie's abduction makes their new relationship complicated. But Daniel is a nice guy. The Murphy family once again show their support for the couple in question as they find friendship and love.

Danny and Stephanie's story is a sweet and steamy second chance romance. Danny's the last Murphy brother to find love, and fortunately for him, it'll be with the woman he's been in love with for the last five years--since they spent a magical five days together and then went their separate ways.
In the meantime, Stephanie's suffered a horrible tragedy that she's just starting to recover from, and Danny's been in the military. He doesn't expect to see her when he gets home from deployment, and he expects her proposition--to help her find her mojo again--even less. But he's not sorry about it...until it's clear he has feelings beyond another fling. Now he's going to have to convince her to try for forever instead...
Though this is the fifth book in the series, it worked just fine as a standalone--though I can't lie, it might leave you wanting to know more about the other brothers' stories by the time you're done with this one ;)
An earlier draft of this book was published by Harlequin as Full Surrender.
Rating: 3 1/2 stars / B

The second chance romance that will sweep you off your feet! I feel for Stephanie as she finally breaks away from her traumatic past and plans to engage her long hidden feminine needs by rekindling the over the top romance with Daniel while he is home from ship leave. To say that Daniel is bewildered by the femme fatale bombshell that greets him as he walks off the ship is putting it lightly. Stephanie was the one that got away and the final reason he joined the Navy to help others in war-torn countries. While Daniel sees wedding rings in his future, Stephanie is keeping things light. Yet as Stephanie’s past comes to head with a new threat, Daniel’s overstepping may complicate things. Will Stephanie be able to accept Daniel’s protectiveness and will Daniel listen to his brother to make things right? You have to read to find out!
I won a copy from the author couple months ago and finally had the opportunity to read it. I enjoyed it and give it a little more than 3.5 stars. The chemistry between Stephanie and Danny was off the charts, and the flashback scenes were interwoven nicely with their current relationship. The only thing preventing me from giving it more stars is that the subplot in the story (surrounding threats on Stephanie's life) wasn't really explored or fleshed out. It was presented in a way that hinted it's sole purpose was to create conflict between the 2 characters, which actually reduced any sense of urgency/sympathy that I could feel for her. The end result was an ending that felt rushed and incomplete.
When Stephanie and Danny meet 5 years ago, it was magic. They spend 5 days in bed, falling in love with each other. When Stephanie goes overseas as a photographer and gets kidnapped, Danny is beside himself with worry and joins the Navy. Now it's five years later and Stephanie tracks Danny down when he come home on leave to celebrate his brother's wedding. Can these two work out the past and have the happily ever after they deserve?
I really liked this book. Danny and Stephanie are two characters that you grow to love when reading this book. The family interactions are well written and make the book so much better.

First, thank you to the author for the ARC. This story is a nice change of pace for a modern day romance. The two main characters try to rekindle a romance from their white hot time together five years ago. The author includes snippets of that initial romance throughout the story at integral times to explain their choices and their relationship today. I found this helpful, as she included the actual dialog and the full scenes instead of eluding to what happened. It was interesting to see how the story would play out with two very different yet very strong individuals. The battle of wills was intense at times, but ultimately ended in true HEA form.
Danny and Stephanie had a fling before she had to leave for a job but they aren’t the same people they were five years ago after all they both went through. I can’t imagine having her experiences. It’s understandable she has fears and her neurotic mother doesn’t help. She reconnects with Danny for another fling to help her get past her intimacy issues but it isn’t long before they realize they are meant for each other, if only he doesn’t go into protector mode and cause her to back away. I loved that she photographs animals and works with rescues. It was great to catch up with the rest of his brothers and their significant others in this steamy second chance romance.
The last Murphy brother to get his happy ending, Daniel Murphy and Stephanie Rosen had a summer fling five years ago and went their separate ways. Until Stephanie was kidnapped and the only thing Danny could do was join the Navy to help secure other Americans safety abroad.
Now five years later, Stephanie is a changed woman, and so is Danny, so her proposition surprises and intrigues him… because he never got over her.
Loved the couple as they slowly found their rhythm again after so man6 years apart. And it’s great to see the rest of the family at Jack and Alicia’s wedding.
Stephanie and Danny get their happy ending, but not without drama from her mom and a potential stalker.
Danny and Stephanie's story is the fifth and final book in the Murphy Brothers series. You can enjoy it as a standalone but it is connected to the other books in the series. Danny and Stephanie connected five years ago but went their separate ways. Danny joined the military right after Stephanie and his cousin were kidnapped. For Danny Stephanie is the one who got away so when she shows up looking for him he sees it as his chance to convince her they are more than a fling. Steamy and entertaining, their story wraps up the Murphy Brothers series.

Very emotional story, romantically and situationally. I love the way he loves, totally dedicated and committed. Love that they got a second chance to relate and roll with the people they've matured into. Very realistic, antsy and steamy. Love that the relationship building is the main focus as they work through everything else. Great story for romance readers that want the romance with some depth. Great characters, looking forward to reading more about these brothers. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is book 5 in Rock's The Murphy Brothers series (the final) and can be read as a standalone but is a great addition to this series. This is Danny and Stephanie's second chance romance journey and I found is so well written. Great balance of heat and sweet with an emotional journey. A great read! I loved this book and all the books in this series I've had the pleasure to read. I can't wait to see what Rock will be writing next!

If you love a good second chance romance I recommend giving Daniel & Stephanie's story a read. She has fought very hard to bury the demons from her traumatic past. Her new business is booming & she's decided to dip her toes back in the dating scene. There's only one person she can think of & that's Danny. He spends many months away on a ship & he's only home for a brief visit. He has longed for her for years. Is she about to get more help then she bargained for?.

Stephanie and Danny had a short affair 5 years ago and now Stephanie approaches Danny in need of his help. Five years is a long time and both have changed during their time apart. Danny is quiet, intense, loyal, protective, and focused. Stephanie has found a new, fulfilling career while she's still haunted by her past. While their relationship moved quickly upon reuniting, it was believable due to their past and obvious chemistry.
The final Murphy Brothers is Daniel. Five years ago, Daniel meet Stephanie Rosen and had a five day affair before Stephanie went on an overseas assignment, where she is kidnapped. Present time and fate they find there way back to each other. Stephanie dealing with her pass experiences and her overbearing mother, has lots of hang ups, both Daniel's love can heal all. I received this book as an ARC
