My first Love Inspired book and definitely not my last! Great suspense. Plots inside of plots!

I discovered Shirlee McCoy's books earlier this year and became a forever fan. She does suspense so very well. Her characters are well fleshed out and seem real to this reader. The plots are great and my attention never wavers. This one was wonderful. I am on a mission to read all her books. That's the good thing about finding an author after they've written more than a few books---you get to read them without waiting for each new release. And she has about 50 out already! Awesome!

Navy Seal Rescuer by Shirlee McCoy
4 STARS Catherine Miller spent four years in prison for murders she did not commit. Now she was home in her family home with the grandma who raised her. She only wants to be left alone. Her house keeps getting vandalized and now someone tried to kill her. She tried to run to the house that was down the road and she fought her attacker enough that he had to stop choking her to get her hands off him and was able to scream loud. Darius Osborne was outside his house on the first day of his vacation when he heard a scream. He grabbed his hammer and found Catherine. She told him what her attacker was wearing and height. After he took her into his house,called 911 and got his gun out and loaded he went to search for her attacker. Darius was a Navy Seal and now a security contracter he was a good person to have on your side. He was able to follow the trail. Catherine's Grandmother Eileen was getting cancer treatment when Catherine was attacked. She did not want to wait for the police to take her statement and worry about her. When her car would not start he took her to the hospital. The policeman made comment about having a bodyguard for a neighbor was paying off now. Eileen tells Darius to go ahead and put in security system. After another attempt on her life Darius is determined to protect her and find out who was trying to kill her. Lots of drama, some tears, romance,car chases before its all over and done with. It keeps your attention and keeps you guessing who wants Catherine dead and why. I had no clue. Its amazing that Catherine is not filled more anger at being away from her grandmother and being in prison for four years. Like all the Love Inspired books you know what will happen. You just have to read the book to know how it will happen! Faith plays a part in each story, lost then found. When I got to the end of this one, I had to read a little late into the night to finish it! Catherine and Darius.

Just when I think the series can't get any better....it does! WOW...I really, really loved this book. The characters are great and the sweet, sweet romance that builds from the beginning just takes your breath away! Of course, lots of drama and suspense can also be found.

An excellent thriller. After being cleared of a false conviction for murder, Catherine is suffering from repeated vandalism at her grandmother's home. When someone attempts to choke her to death when she's home alone, her screams bring her neighbor Darius running to help. He's a bodyguard—security contractor, more particularly—and is insistent that she let him make sure she and her grandmother are protected. When the attacks escalate, he's by her side.
I read this all in one sitting and will be on the lookout for more from this author.

Catherine's anger, as well as her desire for freedom and an independent life are understandable, but with a backstory as interesting as hers, I wish we had been given more details, instead of the glossing over that she does when she meets Darius. I like both of these characters, but think some of the physical language could have been toned down a bit.

Have enjoyed all of Shirlee McCoy's LI Suspense books including this one. Didn't know who the bad guy was until the very end.

- The reason I gave this book three stars instead of five is because, even though there was good action, there could have been a lot more. The book focused mostly on their relationship, which was fine, but I think the plot could have been developed a little more. Still a good book though.
- Darius was a great guy. Almost too great actually. I didn't really see any of his flaws, which would have been nice to see. He did sound really attractive so that was cool. And I liked his friends from the agency where he worked. Also, I appreciated that he was a compassionate person and the author didn't do the whole sexy bad guy thing. Sweet guys are much better anyway.
- The walls that Catherine had in place were totally understandable after all that she had been through. It was interesting to see how she lowered her walls and let Darius in. I also like how she didn't take crap from people. At the end, she grabbed the gun out of Mitch's hands because she was like "I ain't goin out like that", and she also elbowed him in the gut. That was pretty epic and I'm happy she stood up for herself.
- I liked Eileen's spunk. I can see where Catherine got it from. I was sad that she passed away, but happy that she got to go to her home in glory.
- Great, quick read for people who like romance with a little of suspense.

Ok I didnt know if this would hold up to the last book and it definitely did. I am SOOOO glad I stuck it out with this series bc this and the last one have been my favorite. Again I loved the 2 main characters, Cat and Darius. One if his last lines in the book Cat asks him not to go and he says "Why would I do that? You are the only place I ever want to be." Seriously such tender moments. I also like how you can feel the connection between them. Some Christian romances dont have that spark or connection. Not to mention the angst and suspense. It seems they skim over both those emotions as to not be too strong. This book did not do that and I am so glad. I'm glad we felt the pull and chemistry between the 2 characters, the terror and sadness. I must confess I'm a little nervous to read the next book. I dont want to be disappointed and feel like it's similar to the other books in the series before Ryder and his men.

This was a well put together story. Catherine was wrongfully convicted and sent to prison. When she was exonerated, she went back to take care of her sick grandmother. Darius is a former Navy Seal who is now a body guard. He stumbles into protecting Catherine when her and her grandmother's lives are in danger. Catherine and Darius both have healing to do and they help each other in many ways. The plot has nice twists and the pacing is excellent. I want to check out the other books in this series!

the plot is very intriguing, complex and well written.
The situation is inherently interesting, characters believable and consistent with the situation.
This book is the set just after the end of a previous book, and enlarges upon experience of a character who was central to, but not the focus of, a previous Personal Securities Agency book and Ryder Malone.
it is completely stand-alone, having read previous book just added to the enjoyment for me.

Much as the author’s writing is quite good, I am afraid that this time the story was just too full of angst and difficulty for me to be able to get through successfully. In most ways, all of the negative emotions, and everything that happens to worsen the situation is understandable; however, that doesn’t mean that it sat well with me, given the state of mind that I have been in recently. What can I say, I’m just in the mood for only happy things now!

Darius is one of my favorite heroes because I like the fact that he was an amputee war veteran who didn't let this define who he was. Also, Catherine's emotional difficulties after her unjust incarceration add depth to her character. However, the physical descriptions were a bit too detailed for my taste.

I do enjoy Shirleen McCoy's books. Love the fast paced action along with the romance. However, what I do not like is finding a few foul words in an inspirational book. That is a big reason I read inspirational books so I don't have to read foul words.
Other than that it was a great read. I really like this series.

#2022 - 5 Ebook. Very well written and engrossing story of a young woman’s struggle to reestablish herself after 4 years of wrongful incarceration. A chance meeting with an ex Navy Seal (he saves from a murder attempt) and the story evolves around his ongoing efforts to keep her safe while her unknown assailant makes other attempts on her life. Good read!

Catherine Miller has just been released from prison, but somebody thinks she doesn't deserve to live. The action in this novel is fast-paced as Catherine and her bodyguard friend try to find out who is trying to kill her. Shirlee McCoy is one of my favorite Love Inspired Suspense writers; she rarely writes a book I don't enjoy.

This is the story of Darius and Catherine. We met Catherine in the previous book when she was in prison for a crime that she didn't commit. She's finally home and is being harassed and threatened...and the question is WHY?

Good book. My chief complaint with Ms. McCoy 's writing is that she switches POV without a break or signal, which is a pet peeve of mine. The MMC was so patient and willing to serve, he was incredible!
