Bestselling author Barbara Tanner Wallace makes her living making up stories. When not writing, she's either reading, crocheting or bowing to her cats' whims.

Mr. Right, Next Door! Is right up my 5 star rating alley!

Gasp! It is an older woman, younger guy Romance… Yes! it’s a harlequin :) shocking I know! But it totally worked with this story.

Ladies let me warn you that DIY contractor Grant is just de-li-cious!

Sophie and Grant are two wonderfully written characters…polar opposites yet exactly what the other needs but not necessarily what they think they want….but fate and love sure gets in their way to HEA.

I loved the writing and the witty dialogue; I think Barbara has it down to an art form.

If I had to nitpick on anything it would be the epilogue, I sure would liked to have read a little longer epilogue...having said that The ending is beautifully written...

Mr. Right, Next Door! Is Fun, flirty and an absolute delight to read a book I would definitely recommend.

Here’s a quote from the book

"What would you like me to do?"

Wasn't the request obvious? Stop making so much blasted noise. "I wonder if you wouldn't mind keeping it down. Your loud banging makes concentrating difficult."

"Little hard to bang any softer," he drawled in reply. "By nature banging is a loud activity. Even the word—bang—" he let the word burst loudly from his lips "—implies as much."

Akankah mereka mempertahankan gengsi masing-masing?

Mnrt saya buku ini biasa saja sih. Nothing special to me, baik karakter maupun plotnya. Cuma lucu aja, mengejar pria disamakan dgn mantel loakan. Rasanya gak feminis banget sih.

It was ok. I liked Grant, but I wasn't too fond of Sophie. She was a total workaholic, which isn't a problem, except that she allows her boss to walk all over her and won't allow herself to have one iota of a life outside of work. She is one of those women that expect people around her to do as she says because she is saying to. She does get better, but I guess she just rubbed me the wrong way. Grant is a contractor who is a former architect and has a guilt hanging over him that you find out about throughout the book. I did feel for him. Also, Sophie is about 10 years older than Grant and she keeps throwing that into his face.

Okay book. Sophie is a driven, career focused woman. She is also a workaholic who even works at home on the weekends. Her weekends lately have been disrupted by her neighbor's renovation work and she's finally had enough. When she goes upstairs to complain she is stunned by the gorgeous guy that he is. He is also very laid back and ten years younger than she is. Grant was once as driven as she is, but a tragedy forced him to reevaluate his life. Now he makes sure to have balance in his life and has given up the high pressure life he had before to do the historic renovation work that he loves. He wants to help Sophie see that there is more to life than her master plan. He lures her out of her apartment to do some fun things with him. He also feels the same attraction to her, but the age difference doesn't bother him. He knows that if he can get her to relax they'll be great together. I liked Sophie okay, but her tunnel vision regarding her job, her master plan, and the age difference bugged me. I know it was necessary for the story, but I had a hard time feeling any real empathy with her. I liked Grant a little better. His attitude was a little overboard the other way because of the guilt he felt over his friend. I did like the way that he was trying to help Sophie, and I did like the way things worked out in the end.

I love Barb's books and I loved this one too, reading it in nearly one sitting. Her hero, Grant, is delicious, and I could totally see scenes in my head (especially the one on the stairs near the end). It was great to escape to New York and the charm of the brownstone where Sophie and Grant lived, too.

Sophie's had a rough go with her past and Grant's reason for changing his life broke my heart, making them both wary of falling in love. It's a sweet, charming read!

A heads up for bonus materials - for more insight into Sophie's motivation and backstory, Barb posted a "deleted scene" which was a prologue on the Harlequin Romance Author site. I loved it - here's the link: http://www.harlequinromanceauthors.co...

"Sophie learns a lesson in not focusing so much on work and success from her younger neighbor, Grant. In the process, the reader will laugh and have their heart touched by her struggles of over-coming an emotionally crippling past. Grant had his own issues to work through. He suffered from extreme guilt and it took a lot of soul searching to open up to risk again. Overall, I found it to be a very entertaining and compelling read. ~ Kim"

I found that the writing flow was easy which made it easy to read and to enjoy. I'm not a normal romance reader but i will be keeping my eyes out for more books by Barbara Wallace. This book is sweet and funny.

This would be good for anyone who likes 'sweet' romances. I read to the part where it should have gotten interesting...and it didn't. DNF.

I expected more from this book but sadly it didn’t deliver it to me. I found the narrative to not really rise to the climatic point I expected and it was just so obvious from the get go what was going to happen. I read the first 50 pages then flicked through to the ending and I will say, the last few pages were beautifully written. I think this book will appeal to some but it didn’t to me.

Kui üldiselt oli raamat nagu iga teine romantiline jutuke, siis mulle meeldis teema arendus - mis on elus tõeliselt tähtis… Lihtsakoeline raamat, aga pani mind küll mõtlema nii mõnegi asja üle…

Light and fun with a twist of sensibility. The central characters are in a contemporary role reversal. Grant and Sophie are setting themselves apart from each as polar opposites. The older woman is the workaholic and the younger man is expelling himself from the main stream daily grind. Can they find a happy medium?
There is a good level of angst and denial between the characters in the novel and this manifests into the premise and plot. The characters are believable and likable. Virtues and values are examined by the author through this touching tale.
I recommend this book for those looking for a light, witty, and uplifting story of neighbors finding love.

Closed door romance, with definite references to sex, which must be the romance line's thing. I didn't love this, but I liked it. Older heroine, younger hero, and a book about life/work balance. I did think it might have come together sort of fast, but eh. Maybe I am becoming numb to that.

It was okay. For a 40 year-old woman to be that obsessed with her age (she's already in reading glasses--pretty unusual for 40), is a little crazy. That part annoyed me. But as writers go, I liked her more than most.

Pleasurable story with intense relationship that comes alive. Heroine could be somewhat unlikable at first when is so wrapped up in her work and there are a couple of associated stretches

Lectura fácil y entretenida; aunque trata de la relación entre un hombre más joven que la dama y hubo alusiones sexuales a todo lo largo del relato, fue muy rosa.
