Chrissy Peebles, a practicing nurse, has always loved reading and writing fantasy from the earliest age she can remember. She plotted every single twist she could think of during bedtime stories for her children. When her little ones begged for more adventures, she felt confident enough to let her overeager imagination and sense of humor spill out into her first novel. She lives in Ohio with her husband, two young kids, one hamster, three dwarf hamsters and cat. When she's not taking the kids to Little League soccer, basketball, or baseball, she loves to snap photos as her favorite hobby.
I read the first book of the Ruby Ring series and couldn’t wait to get home from work to pick up the second book to find out how the story between Sarah and the immortal Victor progresses. In Book one, Sarah entered Victor’s world by chance when she stepped through a portal in time that once swallowed up her sister. Sarah’s struggling to find her way in this new world. Even though adjusting doesn’t come easily, she’s tough and won’t give up her quest to solve the mystery about her sister’s disappearance. When first signs appear that something horrible happened to Liz, Sarah’s determined to find her no matter what. But to do so she must risk her own life by exposing herself to her pursuers. The Immortal Court is not pleased that Victor shared the Ruby Ring with his new wife, Sarah. For his reckless behavior, he must be punished with death, and so must Sarah. More than ever before, Victor’s determined to save both Sarah’s and his life…even if it means going against her will. So he hunts her down wherever she’s going, watching her, helping her to learn to use her powers, keeping them alive when in reality all he wants is her.
The romance part was definitely heating up in this book. I found myself blushing a few times and wishing Victor wasn’t just a figment of the author’s imagination. The second book of the series also has more drama, more action, and an ending that left me wishing there was another book in the series so I would get to continue following the characters’ lives. Eternal Destiny was definitely one of those emotional reads you cannot put down. If you love your males strong and your heroines funny and stubborn, and a good romance that also offers a bit of a mystery, this is the book for you. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can only recommend it.
The Ruby Ring series never fail to amaze me. From its seemingly simple and redunctant storyline the author has created a world and characters so charismatic that it becomes evident that after the first two or three lines in to the book that you are not wasting your time with this venture. If anything this book does not stretch on and on and start getting on your nerves but is precise and to the point. No idle lingering on the immaterial, no useless descriptions and no excess drama (even though there was some drama they are there because they are a necessary part of the story). There isn't any unpredictable turns in this book, at any point in the story you can guess what is going to happen next but that doesn't less interesting.
The story takes off from where it left in the last book. With Sarah trying find out more about her sister with King Victor right on her trail. Try as she might she can't stop thinking about her gorgeous immortal husband and the weird connection between them is getting more stronger with every passing second. But Sarah doesn't belong in that world even though she is royalty and an immortal in that particular dimension. Of course Victor has other ideas but Victor is not the only problem Sarah has to face this time. Even he she could wrap her head around the whole marriage thing she still has to face a trial for becoming an immortal without permission and more secrets about the ruby wedding ring she wears are still to be revealed.
If there is any problem that I had with this book then it is that there is too much of a convinenence thing going around her. Everything happening to Sarah seems so convinent and at other times seems too much coincidental. The funny bold heroine I encountered in the first book turn kind of preachy in this book. Taking over conversations with moral undertones, trying to spread the message of peace and love. Sometimes I felt the character was contradicting herself with her actions. King Victor who in the first book acted as a high and mighty ruler in the first book is turned into another one of those lovesick Edward Cullens "I love you too much that I will let you go" "I had no life before I met you" "The little time we sent together is enough to last me a whole eternity". Sounds familiar....It should because these are the same lines uttered by every lovesick romeos in YA fiction history. The book had these flaws but it can be easily overlooked as the bigger picture is much more enjoyable. If you have read the first book then don't miss out on this one.
This was more like part 2 rather than book 2 and it was thoroughly enjoyable.
As we know this book is about Sarah and her friends coming through a portal to a medieval realm and they are trying to get away from King victor (her accidental husband), King Williams knights and the immortal gaurdians as well as find her sister and trying to hightail it back home.
This book was fast paced with lots of twists and turns to the story which will surprise and delight you.
Sarah feels an attraction to King Victor the whole time she is running from him- and she is running from him because... well would anyone trust a big bad ass who claims they are immortal and that you are mated for life by a ruby ring? However the attraction is undeniable, especially when he helps her survive the Guardian immortals who want to kill her and shows his willing to change in order to be a better man/king.
Sexy
By the time they had gone though all the events that they had to go through in order to survive and how their relationship progressed- I found myself very anxious about weather or not Sarah would choose to step through the portal and go home as if it were me trying to make that decision- and if an author can pull you in that much then they are doing something right.
I of course downloaded the 3rd book the very next morning that I finished this book. There was no cliff hanger but I will want to continue their journey- and see how her new powers progress.
I was privileged to read and review book 1 in The Ruby Ring series and loved it! You can read the review of book 1 here. Needless to say, I was on pins and needles waiting to read the second book, and I was not disappointed by it in the least!
While I felt the first book focused more on the adventure of a modern day girl finding herself in a medieval one, this story was all about the romance. Sarah and Victor and thrown back together in this book and the chemistry between them practically leaped off of the pages. I really appreciated being able to take a look back at Victor's past; a lot of things are revealed that cause the reader to understand why he appeared so cold and heartless in book one. In this book, he became quite the romantic hero and I came to love him even more than I did in the first book.
Did I mention the chemistry? Sarah and Victor's relationship becomes very sweet and intense and by the end of the book I found myself rooting for them as Sarah struggled with her decision: should she go back through the portal to the modern world, or stay where she has found the love of her life? If it were me, and I had a king taking me to beautiful waterfalls and kissing me on the beach and taking me on unicorn rides...well, screw going home! The passion between them was nice and executed with class. When they do finally come together physically, it is incredibly tender and tastefully done. While much of what happened remained behind closed doors up to a certain point, I still felt satisfied with what I'd been given and feel that this would be a good story for people who like sweet romances with little or no sex. The sexual tension was there but not in a rip your clothes off and throw you down on the bed sort of way. The reader is given just enough to be able to understand what has happened and put a smile on their face.
There were plenty of twists and surprises to keep the storyline interesting and an ending that melted my heart. I appreciated the epilogue as it gave a sense of closure to Sarah's character and gave her a piece of something she thought might have been lost to her forever. I won't say more for fear of spoiling the ending for you, but trust me, it's an ending worth waiting for.
This has two stars from me as i love the imagination.
But no world building really at all i get it medieval but i'm hearing more about our world than theirs, the characters well im stumped.
Sarah, who finds out her best friend shacked up with her ex immediately after they broke up wants to throw her a baby shower....
Victor is hopelessly in love with Sarah after knowing her less than a week.
Liz, Sarah's long lost sister now wants her to risk her life to save her father in law or she will never forgive her, even though the dude tried to kill Sarah.
Charles who is still alive after Liz was said to have been killed, must be a way around that immortal tie i don't know about maybe they cut off her finger first, or no one really questions it and are that stupid.
The story/thought/speech process seems the same
I don't belong here
Victor
newfound magic power
Baddies
I want to go home because my hair gets frizzy here without electric.
No i don't i'm willing to give up everything to be a queen with a man i have known a few days.
The world she though up could have been amazing but just predictable and characters unlikeable.
I read the first book (free read) and the reviews were so good I purchased the second now I'm confused because no one else mentioned it but they seem very good at spotting the ruby immortal rings so when they killed Grace thinking she was Elizabeth no one noticed that she wasn't wearing one which, since it was common knowledge she was mated to Charles she should have been. Then thinking that they'd killed Elizabeth no one seemed at all surprised that Charles was still alive when he would have died when she did. I've given this book 2 stars because this spoilt the rest of the book for me I only continued reading in the hope that this would somehow be explained away, now I did skim read the rest since my heart was no longer in it so if I missed the answer let me know but as it stands I won't read anything by this author again.
A comment was made about my review by Donna Johnson explaining that she would fix this problem, apparently she's gone back to book one and changed the ending and completely taken out Prince Charles leaving Sarah to go looking only for Gloria. Hopefully this made the book make sense and anyone reading this after the changes on 14th Nov 2012 should be ok.

Can you tell I am in lust with this series yet? Not only did Crissy leave us on a type of cliff hanger at the end of book one--to the point I screamed and shook my Nook like an irate child--but she gave us more, more, more Victor. Have I mentioned that King Victor makes my ovaries vibrate yet?? Oh, le yum, he is a force of nature. He is Alpha without being a cave man. He was written so well--to the point where he had the potential for cave man without being a pain in Sarah's butt. Because she totally loved his butt. *smirks*
Once again Chrissy gives us a very well written, fast paced, fantasy romance story that makes you loathe putting it down. Just when they get out of one mess, they jump right in a another. It just wouldn't be believable if they got out of a scrap and it was all sunshine and roses. Chrissy has a way of unraveling a plot like a very awesome present.
I have to say book two delivered just as good as book one and I really really liked book one I was worried going in that I wouldn't be as happy with it. Another book in the series that made me an addict. Oh, I am so addicted. I'm gonna need anonymous meetings for this soon!
The second book in the Ruby Ring series is fantastic! Move over Vampires, Hello Immortal King Victor! I loved this series. Sarah's journey is exciting with danger lurking all around. The bond between sister's is strong, eternal even and Sarah proves just how far she'll go, not even an army of Immortals out for her head will stop her. She has a stubborness that I love in a heroine. She's no pushover and gives King Victor a run for his...oh shall we say, vows?! Sarah doesn't realize just how loyal and true her Immortal king is ... or is he? If you're a vampire lover, then suck in some new blood and dare to be drawn into the the Immortal world of white ... I mean HOT Knights and step into the portal with Sarah Larker and the gang!
The dialog was so sappy and corny that by halfway through the book when I'd hit an Eye Rolling 8+ spot, I couldn't read it without hearing the characters in a 60's superhero cartoon voice. Ya know, like "Holy Wompers, Batman!!" or "Oh, Superman, I don't know what I would have done without you. THank You, Superman!" I could actually see thickly inked cartoon eyebrows waggling during some exchanges.
The plot actually stayed pretty tight which I how I was able to finish it, so well done there. I would have really liked this book if the characters didn't speak to each other at all.
I was surprisingly compelled by the characters through the end of book 1 and this one was pretty highly rated or I wouldn't have bought it. I am afflicted with being perpetually nagged by unfinished books, even if I'm not necessarily liking them. So I read this to the end, but man did it get tough for a while there. This book is perfect is you like cheese with your cheese on your cheese.
Now, I was okay with the first book to this, but this one was terrible. Extremely cheesy. Why didn't she learn how to use her talents? I mean I thought that was what should have been a big piece of the story, not just her running from the other immortals. I felt that this book was rushed and lacked a whole lot of the creativity that was in the first book. Also the dialogue between Sarah and Victor was just bland and horrible. A shame really, this could have been a lot better.
Good 2nd book in the series. I understand the author is planning a third in February...not really sure where the story can go. Seemed pretty wrapped up. But VERY enjoyable, easy read...I finished it in about half a day.
It seems like this series is going downhill fast. The characters are really shallow and unlikeable. The dialogue is very annoying. Yes, we get that the two main characters are in love, soul mates etc.
Here's a snippet of what is most annoying and frequented stated every few chapters or so. Ad nauseam. ---------------------------------- She brushed his hair out of his face. “I’ve never loved anyone the way I love you. If I went back, I’d have all my friends, family, and the convenience of my world, but I’d be so empty without you. You see, it doesn’t matter where I live my life, because as long as I have you, my life is full and complete.” She lowered her mouth to whisper against his lips, “I love you, Victor.”
“I love you too…from the minute I laid eyes on you.” He kissed her long and hard. “Truly, this is the happiest day of my life.” His eyes glinted with a sparkle as he cupped her face tenderly. “Let’s go home, to our castle, my Queen, my beautiful wife.”
She smiled as his fingers intertwined with hers. Their ruby rings glowed in perfect harmony. Never before had she been more proud to wear Victor’s perfect token of affection. She stared up into his amazing blue eyes. “Nothing would make me happier, my King, my beautiful husband.”
As the story continues from book one, we find Sarah struggling with her inner self. Should she stay in her husband's world or return to her modern world as she has planned all along. Danger follows her and her team with death threatening at every turn. Exciting and entertaining.
This is such an awesome series. As our little group explores more of this new world they don't completely understand where will our group end will they make it home safely
The novelty was what kept me, but the energy was a let down, as well as the ending. I started the third but never finished. The writing was so repetitive, it seemed like a good portion of the text was nothing more than filler, to get the word count high enough to count as a novel.
This book was very entertaining with the Sasquatch and time travel into the past on another planet? It had romance, with lots of adventure with romance and fighting for your life. Helping people along the way. Also learning to live in another time and place.
Picks up where book one left off. Sarah finally starts accepting her husband and role. While trying to save all she cares for lives including herself she learns more and more about her husband and maybe a bit about love.
I enjoy the book nevertheless the girl, Sarah made me clench my teeth all the way. The story is original and cool, but I sure expected more than a cliche attitude and a very selfish one, for a girl that thinks about other the way she thinks of the King is nothing but self centered.
This story is about Sarah, and her struggles, and the disappearance of her sister. Narration was good, good flowing plot and enjoyable to listen to. GiVen Audio for my voluntary review .
