Shyla Colt is the sassy USA Today Bestselling author of the popular series Kings of Chaos and Dueling Devils M.C. This genre-hoppers stories feature three of her favorite things: strong females, pop culture, and alternate routes to happy ever after. Listening to her Romani soul, she pens from the heart, allowing the dynamic characters, eccentric interests, and travels as a former flight attendant to take her down untraveled roads. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, this mid-west girl is proud of her roots. She used her hometown and the surrounding areas as a backdrop for a number of books. So, if you're a Buckeye, keep an eye out for familiar places.
As a full-time writer, stay at home mother, and wife, there's never a dull moment in her household. She weaves her tales in spare moments and the evenings with a cup of coffee or tea at her side and the characters in her head for company.
This story is the heart wrenching tale of a drug addict fighting his habit, and the woman who loves him. I've never been with a drug addict, but I was right there with Oceane as she rode the roller coaster of distrust. My heart clenched as I cheered Max on, hoping he would fight for his love.
I have it on good authority that there will be a second book coming, featuring Oceane's sister. I'm truly looking forward to reading that and watching Shyla's talent continue to grow and flourish with her writing. The emotional passion that puts you on the edge of your seat, wondering how things could possibly resolve with a Happily Ever After is what makes this a MUST READ!
I appreciate that O makes Maxim agree to no drugs, less alcohol, couples counseling and a twelve-step program when she takes him back. I also liked that they both had a part to play in their co-dependence rather than it all being Maxim's fault. I'm not sure that there shouldn't have been even more angst in the making up process, though. It was almost too easy for her to take him back. On the way to recovery, Oceane was sometimes suspicious for no reason, which also felt realistic. Of course, being surrounded by nosy family and friends was sometimes more hurt than help as well.
I really enjoyed this story, I love how love conquers all, even an addiction. A funny, romantic drama, I felt like I was watching a movie in my mind. Beautiful work, Shyla.
