Molly and Walter move from London to Poltrue, a village in Cornwall. However, strange things begin to happen when Molly starts having odd dreams about Poltrue and Walter gets caught in a storm from which he is rescued by Martha. Unbeknownst to them both, Martha is a witch and is determined to win Walter. Janice Elliott is the author of "Secret Places", which was made into a prize-winning film in 1984 and won the Southern Arts Award for Literature. There are some strikingly beautiful images in this. p1 - "And as they came round the headland there, like God's finger, the sun stabbed through mist. Light when it was first made." The book lacks the sort of drive that makes you keep reading though. Didn't engage me.
Kind of a strange one this. Molly and Walter Waterman retire to a little cottage in Cornwall, across the bay lives Martha and her cat Pounce. Befriending the couple Martha then proceeds to ensorcell Walter to do her bidding meanwhile hatching a plot to get rid of Molly to have him for herself. At times not the easiest to understand, in a way also cluttered with characters that to me served little purpose apart from those within Martha's coven. An OK read but not the best witch book I have come across.
