Interesting... a yaoi manga that isn't just all about sex, but an actual exploration into the dynamics of the relationship. Overall, the story is a bit dry, and some of the characters' interactions seemed a bit forced (their communication was definitely lacking to begin with), but there were some sweet moments.

I sat down to read the first chapter and didn't put it down until I finished the entire volume. Then I wasted 5 seconds trying to force the page to go forward as if that was going to work. Want volume 2 asap.

Just a good written BL manga with a natural developing relationship.

Did Not Finish

dnf @45% bc I realized I don't need to finish something I'm not enjoying
hashtag back in the day I remember really enjoying this but the age gap is just a bit too much for me, not to mention some other uncomfy things (maybe the mc has internalized homophobia but christ).

Siempre que releo este manga me maravilla el estilo tan bonito de la mangaka.

Algo a lo que no le di importancia años atrás fue a la diferencia de edad y ahora no paro de pensar en eso. Huh.

The Story

Yorozu is a high school boy that lives with his family at a love hotel called Castle Mango and the place is his sanctuary. Until the day that director Togame crashes the hotel to film one of his porn movies. As if being mistaken for one of the actors for the movie, Yorozu also has to watch Togame “hitting” on his young brother, and that was too much.

After a hard party when Togame had too much to drink, Yorozu sets him up for Togame to think that they slept together on Castle Mango. What Yorozu didn’t expect was to Togame to actually ask him out and become his boyfriend!

The Analysis
Just remembering that those were my impressions and opinion as a reader :)

This is a two volume series and it was adorable. I started to read it because I found the title pretty peculiar (I mean, Castle Mango? Seriously?) and I’m so happy that I did so! It was surprising, entertaining and different from standard high school boy with older guy mangas. Yorozu never wanted Togame and flees from all his efforts for a normal relationship to work between them.

The narrative pace was fast, without much of background for both Yorozu and Togame, but all gets clear with time. Both men are very decided regards their life plans and Yorozu didn’t even feel attraction towards men before meeting Togame (cof after meeting him, not much is changed cof). Togame was openly gay during the whole series, but he didn’t hit on Yorozu because the boy was 17 and he didn’t want to be arrested, haha! The turning point was Yorozu’s scheme and Togame starts to glimpse the man that his boy would become through their forced time together. SO CUTE.

The plot was simple, yet I couldn’t predict how the series was going to end, as it was a drama labeled manga. Also, it proved to be so different from its colleagues on the same category that I found myself breathless, not even knowing if I should cheer for their love, as it was all a lie. Complex business, guys. Complex business…

As for characters, the one that develops the most and was my favorite is Yorozu. He is very mature for his age thanks to life’s beatings, but omg, he changed so much in two volumes! Although not admitting that, he learns a lot with Togame, that is on his thirties. Such a different couple seemed doomed to not work and, in a way, they never did. I’m a goner for dysfunctional relationships between men.

The art is beautiful overall, but it didn’t take my breath away. They are beautiful, but not jaw dropping beautiful, in my humble opinion.

I feel on the duty of advising that you shouldn’t read this series if all that you look for is hot sex scenes with an excuse of a story behind them (I confess I started it for this reason, haha!). Castle Mango is complex and barely contains sensual scenes; sex scenes are out of the table for real. This is a warming-heart life-lesson manga series, you need to read it focusing on the human relationships shown :D

Overall, I loved this series and have no complains. It’s a wonderful and different yaoi manga that deserves to be more known <3

That’s it! Thanks for reading :D

Absolutely love this story--it takes time to build momentum, but when it does be ready to pull out the tissues. It's wonderfully different and kept my attention from the first page. And thankfully, the plot is typical yaoi like "we've been friends since elementary school and I just couldn't tell him I love him" or "sensei attacks his student" or "I was raped and now I've fallen for my rapist" ugh. The characters are endearing, strong, and in the end, lived up to my expectations.

Funny, this manga is well loved by the masses but I just thought it was okay.... Also it is definitely not my favorite by Konohara San, it is probably my least favorite by her. I just don't get it. Hopefully on a second read I'll like it better.... As I'm used to Konohara san's light novels, I'm spoiled by them, because they are amazing!, when I read the mangas I seem to miss her beautiful writing & insightful characters...... I wonder if this was published as a novel first, hopefully it is still put there & by the time I'm fluent in Japanese, I can read it in the original language....

The back blurb (and the summary on Goodreads) do not do this series justice. It is a complex exploration of social stigma and its influence on those who do not fit in as well as an equally compelling tale of underdogs who want to achieve their goal in life. It is also a well done love story with a dose of self discovery about one's sexuality. In my opinion, it goes beyond the constraints of the yaoi genre to be something much more of worthy of wider readership.

I thoroughly enjoyed this first volume. The two main characters make me so happy I can almost forget the age gap....ALMOST. It's definitely a fun premise, but for this to take place in a love hotel, there's no smut. But again, age gap, so I am a-okay with there not being any smut. Togame is your strong, silent, sweet type and stole my heart immediately. Yorozu is your typical angry but only cause he has too many responsibilities at such a young age character. I am excited to see their relationship play out in the second volume. Would definitely recommend.

The description to this is utterly cringeworthy and misleading. The story is actually a little bittersweet and altogether well done.
I remember reading a bit of it a few years ago and then I saw amazon had it for kindle and went ahead and bought it. I'm glad to finally have it and I'll probably end up rereading it eventually.

I like how the older character takes his time to get intimate , I am so bored of bl stories where they rush their partners.
Also there are a lot cute hugs in this volume! Not the most catching plot, but nice!

Molt cuqui ♥

Castle Mango is a really nice story that has a much more original storyline then you typically find in BL manga. Shiro is a very quiet and serious young man in his senior year of high school. His family runs a love hotel and his dream since he was a kid was to expand the business. This dream wasn't supported by teachers etc because of its associated taboo subject but this didn't deter Shiro's dream but made him turn more inward about it.

Togame is the director for a porn studio called Kaleido Fish and in his world he's popular and praised for his work. When his studio books Castle Mango for a filming, Shiro and Togame meet and don't take a liking to each other. Shiro's younger brother however who's a more open and free individual (of which Shiro's always been jealous of) and Togame start to get along. Shiro begins to worry about his little brother being around a gay man who films porn and uses that to justify him wanting to keep them apart, though the truth seems more just basic jealousy.

One night, Togome goes out drinking with his film mates and they leave him in the care of Shiro to sleep it off in one of Castle Mango's rooms. Shiro uses this opportunity to make Togame think he slept with him and took his virginity so that he'll take responsibility, since Shiro was told that Togame's very mature and responsible. Shiro's plan works; Togame feels guilty for what he thinks he's done while drunk and he promises Shiro that he'll stay away from his brother (and other men since Shiro claimed that the reason is because he's easily jealous) and he starts to date Shiro.

What Shiro didn't realize was that he was attracted to Togame and jealous of the attention Togame gave his brother while calling him cold and average. Now that Togame is treating him like a boyfriend, Shiro starts to fall in love... but what should he do now?

Its a fun story so far and you really feel for Shiro and Togame. The artwork isn't beautiful but its good and there's backgrounds and side characters to support the story very well. I can't wait for v2...

Method acting - you adopt a style/character and you become that. So Shiro who just pretends to be a uke actual ends up...end up. *snicker*

Any whooo, Shiro is a model A student at a prestigious boy school however he is on a scholarship so his grades are everything. He lives in an antiquated love hotel with his mother and little brother called - Castle Mango. Their father had passed away early and both boys are starving for male companionship. Enter a AV production company with a director who's first impression is that Shiro is a porn actor so he pulls down his pants and declares him *average.* Needless to say, Shiro doesn't like him.

His little brother latches onto Togame as a mentor but Shiro accuses the director of being a child predator and tells him to stay away from the little guy. When his brother goes out of his way to hang with Togame Shiro goes and does the drastic. Togame ends up in a drunk stupor at the hotel and Shiro blackmails him into an exclusive relationship after pretending Togame took advantage of him the night before.

Shiro thinks he's saving his little brother. He intends to string Togame along as the non-boyfriend but the strength of the directors arms brings back warmth that has been missing in his life...

Maybe it was simple nostalgia or my familiarity with love hotels (hey, they're cheap accommodation and offered a bathtub I didn't have in my apartment), but I really liked this story. The characters are intriguing, the pacing is perfect, and I'm itching to read the next volume. I've only once ever seen a young cute guy in a love hotel office (usually it's old men or middle-aged women), but the whole point of those offices with their little windows are privacy and discretion, so it's not like I'd have had an opportunity to get all chummy with the staff. It does make it awkward when you have to bang on the window to wake the owner up at 8 PM while his dog runs over him barking though! I loved the retro themed-rooms in the hotel. I miss some of that silliness in my day-to-day life that is a given if you live in Asia, especially in Japan or Korea.

**Grammar**

What can i say about this manga? i love it. The high-schooler and the av director are just perfect together, and when they meet again 1 year and 6 months after they separated still loving each other, i cried, that scene was really beautiful and we see how much they love each other and how in all the time they werent together they only thought about the other. The fact that the uke was a virgin and still isnt described as a feminine char without personality, was a huge bonus. He is smart, handsome, and mature, also the seme is not the typical asshole all muscle and dominant, but he cares deeply for the boy and is gentle, mature and let's not forget handsome too.
I loved their bickering :D

They are just the perfect couple, sweet manga with no rape or cheat.I will read more from this author for sure. This managa will be a re-read for sure in future. ^_^

This is such a lovely book. When I first read the description - adult video director falls in love with the son of a love hotel owner - I thought it had to be pure crack, but in fact it's anything but. It's a really lovely, slow-paced story about two people gradually falling in love with each other, and while there are a few typical tropes, it's done so well that I didn't mind them. The balance between humour and drama is great, too. And there are quite a few scenes that just - stay with you. I can't wait for the second volume.
